  1. I don't think Yo will have any problem and if they asked for the documents along with her passport it is a very good sign she will get her visa. Angel was waiting on a few documents after her interview and was told the same. After we shipped the documents to the embassy in Bangkok we checked via email to confirm they received them and they always replied very quickly. The best part after they got the documents about a week later Angel got her visa.

We are going home June 24!

  2. I have filed DCF here in Bangkok. My wife has already passed her interview and all we are waiting for is the paperwork from my brother who will be her co-sponsor. My question is can I leave

Thailand in the next few weeks and start getting our home ready and have her follow a month or 2 later? We originally filed the I-130 saying she would leave with me together, but now I need to

leave Thailand because the end of my contract here. She has renewed her contract and will wait until the school has a replacement teacher.

  3. Yes the police report copy is needed for packet 3 but when we submitted ours we didn't have it because of the 3 week delay. We now waiting for it and a support form from the US. Once we have all the paper work, we will mail it the embassy with her passport and then they will issue her the US visa.

I believe if Yo lived more than 6 months in another country she will need it because they asked Angel during her interview if she stayed in another country for more than 6 months. Did you receive the instructions for packet 3? They have all the list of documents there that you need to submit the photocopies. Did you do the online DS 260? She will need to take the print out to show both the police and medical departments. Tell Yo to get the police clearance asap in Thai Royal Police down in Bangkok and ask information for "express service" as Angel didn't ask first and now we have to wait 3 weeks. Then while she's in Bangkok she can also go for her medical check up at one of the two places listed in your packet 3. But Angel went to BNH hospital because its near the police station.

  4. Curt,

In the IV packet will be your important case number. Also it will tell you where to go for your wife's medical. There are only two listed. and it will run about 5300 baht. There is also directions to which police department to go to get the police clearance.

    @RobertAtlantaUSA,

As of last week Angel asked for the "express service", but was told they could not offer that "service" anymore at any price.

  5. Yes, that us the right one. It's a shame you can't be here to fix anything that may need correcting.

After the your wife gets the translation make sure she goes to the Foreign Affairs Department and has an official seal put on the translation. Some of the larger towns do have translation services that send it down to Bangkok for the stamp. If not she with need to go herself.

Good luck in he new job.

  6. Hi Curt,

We delivered it in person and I glad we did. There were a few minor errors that we were able to fix there and get the ball rolling right away. They are really great about answering questions via email and many are answered within 1 day. I would send them an email asking if they received your package.

In the most resent email from them it said it takes 60 days for them to process my CR-1, but it also said to check back in 2 weeks which would make it about 2 weeks early .

  7. I filed our CR-1 visa DCF in Bangkok Jan.16 and I'm now sitting on pins and needles waiting. There was a slight delay as the USCIS office needed copies of an old divorce in the US, but I sent it EMS and I got an email saying they received it and a adjudication officer was reviewing. They have been very helpful and responded quickly to the emails I've sent them.

My question is when should I be getting our NOA2?

  8. Quick update.....Angel and I were married Oct. 28 in the Philippines.

We have assembled our I-130 package and will be heading down to Bangkok next week to submit our paperwork.

I received an interesting email from the USCIS wanting to make sure we were both residents here in Thailand. Things like a visa other than a tourist visa, work permit, long term lease, and so on. Were OK there and very excited to start the ball rolling.

Thank you everyone for your help and we will keep you up to date on what happens.

  9. Thanks for the info.

Yes, she is here in Thailand legally and we are working at the same school with the proper visas and work permits.

I'm lucky as my family owns a business in Florida and I will return to work in the store. The business also owns a few homes and we will be living in one of these .

As far as taxes go I have filed every year working here in Thailand, but never made enough to have to pay income tax for those years.

  10. Hi all, I'm an American living and working in Thailand. I have been good friends with my Filipino fiancee for over 6 year before we decided there was more to it than just friends. We will be getting married this October and due to Thailand becoming more unstable and unpredictable I have decided to return to the states with my new bride.

I have found this site very helpful and look forward to reporting our progress through the visa maze.
