  1. Also hold off doing anything else with the NVC. If you've already sent everything you can request them not to book and interview until your daughter's case catches up.

ok thank you. Also, If we apply for the I130 and can hopefully have it expedite do you think we may be able to get an interview by September. I was accepted in a degree program and I also want my daughter to start school. what do you think?

  2. Hi Everyone,

My husband filed an I130 for me last year June. He thought the I130 also included my daughter, who is 4 y/o. Yesterday we received a letter for NVC and found out that she wasn't added to the application. We are now trying to figure out what to do. We called NVC several time, each time we heard conflicting info. one rep told us to write to ASK NVC and request that she is added to the application. Anotrher rep said that will not work and we need to complete an I130 for her and just pause on my case. Then another rep said that I can wait for my interview and have her added at that time. Can someone clarify what is correct and what to do?

My case is CR-1, It was not my husband's intent to omit my daughter from the form. He had attached all her information such as her birth certificate, copy of her passport, and two photos, when sending my documents believing that my daughter was also attached to the application.

Thank you for your assistance and prompt response.

  3. Hi, Iam just cheking in . Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOU ALL(IMO whether you are a mother now or not-you are still female and that means you are someones mom, aunt sister cousin etc and that is all is required)

Congrtaulations on you interveiw date!!!!!!!!!1

\I am plague by this again sorry to sound like I am unsure of what I am doing, but I just informed my husband of what is going on with IMBRA and he is very sure that if I go the K3 route we are going to be apart much longer. I have sent out the I130 and the NAO1 is on April 8, bu taccording to the IMBRA and the Carl ( some attorney on one of the numerous websites I was on) CR1 will not be affected by this extended security check.

I am looking fo rsome advice- I am really looking to go the K3 route ( I finally decided on it after a little conversation I had with Elizabeth, but then last night I began reading about IMBRA and the I130 is now popping out at me. I know you guys can't tell me what to do, but I am looking to you guys as experience wives/fiancees of foreign spouses to assit me in making this decision. This new law really sucks.:cry:

I could tell my husband was upset when I told him about the law but I have no ontroll over it, how are the SOs of you other females who are abotuto be trapped in limbo taking this?

I am going to do some home work. If I do not return have a wonderful weekend .

    DW,

I did CR1 recently and it took 5 months in total. My husband came to America March 31 and received his ss# in less than a week. He received the green card two weeks after arriving and didn't have any problems with working or getting a driving license. I think if you are filing from vermont service center it will go fast. Most of my friends say it took about 6 - 8 months in total.

If you follow everything VJ saids in the shortcuts you can take off about a month off your time.

I am not sure how the new law will affect your timeline now so check with others on VJ for that.

  4. Happy Birthday (Belated) JILL and Kimone!!

CONGRATS!!!! I know how excited you must be.

  5. Hello everyone,

This is just a quick update. My husband arrived March 31, 2006, a day after receiving his visa by courier service.

We went and filled out an application for his ss card a few days after his arrival. Although we had answered question 32 (DS230 form) requesting SS # I thought it wouldn't hurt to go and apply anyway. He received it about 4 days later.

We also went to apply for his driving license the same day. It was fairly easy. The state of Georgia only needed his passport with the I551 stamped in it, and proof of residency. He then had to take the written and road test (same day).

Yesterday he received his GC (24 days after arriving in the US). He was so excited!

So far it has been reality easy for him to find employment since Atlanta is having a big real estate boom. Every where you go in Atlanta new shopping malls, homes, and schools are going up. He is a mason and found work with a mason company.

The job is a blessing but it has been hard for us because of our one car situation. Atlanta isn’t a commuter friendly city and it is hard for the whole family to deal with one car. Our daughter is feeling it the most. Before my husband arrived I would drop her to school everyday before leaving to work. Now, she gets up by herself, dress, and take the school bus to school. She is fine taking the school bus but I think she is having a problem with being alone for an hour before school. Kirk and I must leave by 6:30 if we want to be on time to work.

I am happy that we only have a few more weeks until school is over. Hopefully before the summer break is over we will have another car.

Also, now that my husband is here our sweet honeymoon phase is gone too. We must adjust to everything over again. When we first were married we lived in Jamaica and he knew his surrounding and his “place”. He was the man of the house. Now that we are here he is trying to figure out his place and surrounding. It’s a culture shock for him. I think he can’t believe how independent I am here. In Jamaica he did everything for me. He drove me everywhere (I was too afraid to drive – too fast and crazy for me). He worked and I didn’t. He did all the cooking. He even bathed with me (the water was too cold for me to go in alone).

I know we will adjust soon.

All in all it is wonderful having my family back together.

  6. :D

    HEY YARDIES!

BACK to New York FROM sunny JA, and the verdict is...

WE GOT THE VISA!! YAHOOOOOOOOO :D:):D:dance:

    ROHAN WILL BE COMING HOME

The interview was a snap, our interview was a 9:15, Rohan got there about 6 am and I followed later around 7 am. We had to pay someone to hold our cell phones. The security guards are extremely pushy and try to overly exert there authority. They let us in about 7:15am and we had to wait while they deal with the other 7:15 appointments until about 9:00 am, they called us about 9:15 am the first time , in all we got out about 11:30 am. The interviewer questioned us together and all he asked was How did we meet, the name of our church, How many other times I been to Jamaica, and when and where the wedding will be. He joked a little about Rohan's broken arm, and said congratulations. It was great, we hugged then proceeded around the corner to AIRPAK. The cabs offer to take you for a rip off price, but dont take it, is less than a 5 minute walk around the block. We are so happy, Rohan will be coming up in the next couple weeks, after I finalize a place he will stay at before the wedding.

My time in JA was wonderful, me and Rohan spent most waking hours together and really grew in our love (L) . I spent Tuesday in St Thomas at the LYCEENS Beach with his step mom, brothers and sister, we had such a great time. Also a church convention was going on and we had a great time there. I am ecstatic!! :D

Only 2 1\2 months until k1 approved amazing.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

    CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!

  8. GOOD MORNING! (F) TGIF

Dee~ Your EAD and AOS paperwork should all go to the Chicago Lockbox...That is where we sent everything.

Well Andre passed his driving test by 2 points. So much for that perfect score that he was going on and on about :lol: Honestly I am so happy that he can now be independant and out on his own but I am sooooo worried about him getting in an accident or even getting a ticket. He is really not a good driver and I can't believe he actually passed...although the examiner did say he still needed a lot of practice but that he had the basics down. So keep him in your prayers that nothing bad happens from him being a little too over confident and cocky

    CONGRATS TO ANDRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Hmmmmm Gee where can I start... this is a little much to debate over VJ.

But lets start here..... How is it that before Columbus proved a spherical earth it was already in the bible written centuried before JOB 26:10.. ISAIAH 40:22, Proverbs 8:27

Back when man thought earth rest on the back of a turtle ..the bible knew depsite that JOB 26:7..the earth stands on nothing..it is suspended. A few years ago when Science discovered there is water above the earth... DUH..the bible already stated that in Gen 1. Gee is science late

Hmm how about the science of wind.. read Eccles 1:6 and the fact that the weight of wind is made by water ..look at Job 25:25.. How about when science thought they had an accurate account of the stars and not until the 1940's when the Hubble was invented did they were imeasurable. Hipparchus said there were only 1,022 stars. Ptolemy said there were 1,026. They are immeasurable..well no duh.. the bible says that already in Hebrews 11:12. Genesis 15:5 and Jerimiah 33:22.

The point is not for little me to prove the existence of my God, but can you prove he doesnt exist. There is a million times more evidence that shows his existence then your weak points that says he does not.. The thing with Christianity is just this...look at it yourself... decide for yourself. if you decide there is no God..gee I really hope your right..if not welll...there could be some problems. Me I choose the safe side

Before I read the rest of the thread I just wanted to remind everyone that we aren't debating if "God" is real or not. Or if Tenika's theory on the Bible is correct or not.

The issue is should religion be taught in PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Should the Bible be taught in PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

I have a question for every christian that want the Bible to be taught in Public Schools. Would you be opposed to having the Torah, Koran or any doctrine from any other religions being taught to your children in PUBLIC schools.

  10. Good evening everyone,

Well mom and I just got back from looking at places to hold the wedding and now I am torn between 2 places, I guess I just have to start figuring out prices and what each place has to offer since I like both of them. One is a Wyndham Resort which is very nice and the ceremony and reception will be nice and elagant, and the other is a Doubletree Castle hotel that has a whimsical castle feel, it is neat and will have a unique flare to it. So I am very confused right.

Anyway hope everone had a great day!

There is a Wyndham Resort in Jamaica and it is very nice. Maybe you can get a trip there if you have your wedding there. I'm sure you'll know what is right for you so don't sweat it. Relax!

I live in Atlanta. I moved to Atlanta a little over a year now. I like it but I haven't done too much exploring. I hope to get to know Atlanta better when my husband gets here.

Yeah the Wyndham does offer a free honeymoon if you have your wedding there but you have to spend at least $12,000 in food and beverages, I dont think we will even come close to that

Both hotels have thier pros and cons, but it will probally come down to who ever offers is the best price!!

Smart thinking! It takes a lot of money to go through this immigration process. Save some money and energy for that day!

Any one else have to send the AOS and EAD to different addresses?

Ours went to Chicago but I don't know how the biometrics and interview will be done. The NOAs for AOS and EAD came from Lees Summit, MO.

    Thanks ChristineJames.

My husband asked me today what to bring with him to Atlanta.

What did you guys tell your SO to bring? Should he pack ALL his things (even the stuff that I'll hide somewhere deep in my garage)?

Congratulations Simone! Are you meeting him in Atlanta? That is a fun town.

  12. IF it stays in the context of historical/literature then it might have some value. But I can absolutely guarantee you that it won't. Georgia is a republican state, very staunch conservatives pretty much have the majority here. This won't stay as a historical/literature course...the conservatives will find a way to promote their belief system.

Religious instruction has its place, but it isn't in the public schools...and I hope I haven't offended anyone with that statement.

I totally agree with your statements. One of my concerns is who will be teaching the course.

especially since the article stated that many teachers do not want to teach it because it will put them in a situation that they are not comfortable in.

I don't want to teach it. It is hard enough teaching my subject area and trying to stay politically correct. I try hard not to give my religious view points on issues in the classroom. A few weeks ago a History teacher was put on probation and is now under investigation because he compared Bush to Hitler. He may lose his license because of he decided to compare and contrast two figure head in the classroom. If people in the country can't discuss being a democrat vs. a republican without getting upset what do they think will happen when religion is being compared and contrasted?

  14. That's a bunch of BS! I've never heard of them required a lease before. I didn't have one :ranting:

    I agree

I'm stunned. The apartment complex said they would issue a lease dated 4/25. If the unit isn't ready then we will redo the lease and no rent due until the unit is done and they give me the keys. I didn't think there was any way they would do this.

I will go to get it either at noon tomorrow or on Saturday. I'd go right now but I've managed to panick myself into a migraine.

Do you all really believe we still have a chance?

I think you have a really good chance. I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time with the gov't but the Universe is still providing. What is meant to be will be and clearly you can see evidence of that by the rental office offering to give you a lease.
