I marked on my DS-260 form that I wanted to get a SSN. It has only been a week and a half since I entered the US and I know I have to wait 3 weeks before I go to the SSA office if I don't get it in the mail to apply for one.
Most of the posts on this forum indicate that they never received the SSN in the mail and had to go to the SSA office anyways. Is there anyone out there that successfully had the SSN card mailed to them after saying "Yes" on the DS-260 form?

I got my interview from the NVC on Friday but I have not received my email either.
I have a question. For the vaccines it says that you need a Flu Vaccine between Oct and Feb annually. My medical is scheduled for September but my interview is in October. I have all the rest of the vaccines on the list. Does that mean I have to get a Flu Vaccine as well because my interview is in October?
I think I found the answer to my question about needing the Seasonal Flu vaccine in Canada. First of all nobody I can find is offering the Flu vaccine yet until October. My medical is booked for September so according to the link below I won't need it:
http://www.uscis.gov/news/questions-and-answers/vaccination-requirements
Q. When does the flu season start for purposes of the seasonal flu vaccine requirement? Since the seasonal flu vaccine is required, do I have to get the seasonal flu vaccine if it is not the flu season?
A. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine.

Hi dwheels76,
I noticed that I am in the spreadsheet twice. Sorry about that. Originally I thought my Case was closed July 29 when I got my email but when I called it was actually July 22. So I have a July 22 and July 29th entry. The July 22nd one is correct.
Thanks

Great news for both of us after the long wait. Just got mine as well.
I'm trying to test a theory, so could you please tell me when did your AOS fee changed from PAID to N/A?
I didn't have to do an Affidavit of Support for the NVC because I was derivative beneficiary (I am the spouse) for an employment based petition. Mine has always said NA.
I am curious what I will be asked to bring to the interview? Obviously the Birth Certificate, Police Check, passport, passport photos, marriage certificate, and medical. I will bring originals and copies because I did electronic processing.
I was thinking of bringing an Affidavit of Support just in case the interviewer wanted one but it probably isn't necessary. I have no idea what kind of questions they will ask me because my visa is employment based but it is my wife's employment not mine. I guess I might need some of her forms?
I might need to bring proof of domicle and a copy of my wife's green card. When I get the letter I will know better. Is an electricity bill in my wife's name enough with our home's address enough proof of domicle?
I am just thinking out loud because I am not sure what to expect at this point. My situation seems to be pretty unique.

Hi,
I am new here.
I received my case complete email on July 29th and have been waiting for my interview at the Montreal consulate. When I call the NVC they told me that my case was actually completed on July 22nd but that I don't have an interview scheduled yet. I noticed on the Interview Date spreadsheet that others from Canada have their interviews scheduled even though their cases where completed after mine. It must be due to the type of immigrant visa I have applied for.
My wife has her EB-3 based green card since March 2014 and lives in the US. So I have been at the NVC since March. I applied for a following-to- join benefit so my visa type is EB-3 because I am a derivative beneficiary. I did not have to submit an Affidavit of Support as part of my paperwork.
Do you know if EB-3's are a lower priority for interviews than IR-1? Also are the questions drastically different at the interview? I am thinking I should bring an Affidavit of Support just in case the interviewer requested it.
Thanks
Just as a follow-up to the above thread. I read on this forum that the NVC was handing out interviews so I called them up. I was told by the representative that I was given an interview date today. Oct 9th in Montreal. Lucky.

Good to know. That means I should be getting an interview scheduled soon. I was looking at the stats for IR-1 case completes and was wondering why mine was taking so much longer. Hopefully I get an interview soon. It is hard to find much information of family based following-to-join EB-3 visas.

Turned away at social security office, told to wait 21 days

I had read that checking the box on the DS-260 does not work very often so I went to the SSA 6 working days after I entered the US. After waiting for a couple of hours I was told that I had to wait a month before coming back because they did not want me getting 2 cards. The lady was very nice and apologized for me having to wait so long without me even mentioning it. I know that the month timeframe is not correct so I am going to go back on Nov 25th and try again because at that time the 3 weeks will have passed. Luckily my new bank gave me a business and personal account without requiring a SSN.
I still want to get the card quickly so I can get on my wife's health care plan and get a drivers license.
