  1. Hi Everyone,

I am filling visa application and AOS documents on behalf of my husband for his parents. I have few questions regarding online submission and process afterwards. I submitted visa application mid-november, uploaded AOS and supporting documents, and uploaded civil documents in mid-december. I was reading on FAQs that you will be notified if you have to mail any documents. I just checked "Visa Status" link on CEAC website and it says DS-260 submitted and send other documents in mail. I have already submitted everything online and I didn't get any email that I have unread messages on my CEAC account. To me, it seems like a general notice as there was gap between when I submitted visa application and my AOS documents. I just want to make sure it is not a true notice. I wanted to ask everyone how are you notified from CEAC if they need me to send things in mail? Generally, they would send email or mail letter. I am just not sure of new practices.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hi, My husband has PR and we are in the process of of applying for his US citizenship but it seems like it will some time. We are expecting our first child next month and really want my in-laws to be here. We are alone here. They have already been denied for tourist visa twice based on traveling reason.  They just asked two questions...who lives in US and reason of visit. They had hired an agent there but he wasn't very good at guiding them. We really want them here because of the baby now. How should we approach this in the consulate? What kind of evidence should we submit? They have business in India so there is a strong tie to the home country. Would really appreciate all your help!

    Thanks!

  4. Hello all,

My two relatives arrived from India in mid-January of this year. Both relatives were in same visa category, they arrived on same day and are living at same location. One of them received both SSN and greencard, while another relative only received greencard. SSN card has still not arrived. 8 weeks is unusually late for this process. I called the 1-800 number but their estimate wait time is 1 hour, I don't have that much time to wait over the phone. Is there something that can be done locally. Who should i contact?

  5. Hello,

My family member was denied visa on their first interview process due to some missing documents. We are resubmitting the documents and the letter says to drop of on any of 11 location.

    1) what to submit with these documents? should we include the cover sheet with case number?

    2) can anyone submit the documents or does the applicant has to be present?

    Thanks,

I will greatly appreciate your response.

  6. Hello everyone,

I am helping my parents fill out the I-864 for my grand-parents. The applicant already went to the interview and they were denied the visa due to lack of sponsorship; they need a new joint sponsor. I believe we were short $10,000 on the income requirement. I went back to read the instructions for I-864 and I recalled that we can also add asset value. Does anyone know what assets can we add?

1)Would bank statement, life-insurance policy be okay to add?

    2) What form would I fill out to provide these since the interviewer asked for new joint sponsor?

    Thanks,

    Kanika

    Oh i see...

That's because your appointment is within 24 hours so you wont be able to change from your end. Usually you have another option called "Re-schedule your appointment" just above Group Scheduling Request.. I'd say no worries because you have a update from the Consulate and since the Consulate is closed tomorrow then you may call ustraveldocs anytime from 8am and address them the issue and they have access on their system to change the interview dates. When you call them, make sure to put your case on priority.

Yea will do. I will let my family call them in the morning to reschedule. Will let you know what happens...

Sure definitely. Start calling ustraveldocs from 8am because generally they reply to their emails with 48 hours but since you've already sent a mail you must have got a acknowledgement reply with a Case Number and quote the same when you call them in the morning.

So I got an email from the VAC center read as below...

"In the interests of public safety, and due to the flooding in Mumbai, the U.S. Visa Application Center at Mumbai will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  We encourage applicants to monitor this website for updates, and to reschedule their existing appointments at the Visa Application Center and the Consulate by logging in to their profile.  There is NO need to contact the call center or customer support—simply log in to your profile and reschedule your appointment.  The Consulate regrets any inconvenience this may cause"

I am unable to reschedule online though. I don't even have an option to change the appointment date. The only options i get are appointment history and appointment confirmation. Do you  know how to edit it in general?

If you are unable to make changes on ustraveldocs then call up ustraveldocs....people at consulate are mostly rude...you will have to contact ustraveldocs by phone....since its 9pm its no use....you will have to call them at 8am on Call +91 120 4844644 or +91 40 46258222.

hey you are in luck.....go here http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-main-contactus.asp the live support team is online...go now !!!!!

Thank you! I tried but no luck..nobody is live. The link finally led to sending an email.. I agree the consulate people are so rude! They should not work there! I sent an email to support-india@ustraveldocs.com. Hopefully we get a response soon...Thanks for your help. Let me know if you come up with something else

  10. Hello All,

My grandmother had to take the sputum test when she went for her medical examination and they said the reports come after 2 months. Do we let the consulate know about the failed medical exam? Do we have to go to the interview  on the scheduled date? not sure what to do with the current date, to go or to not go at all?

    Thanks in advance!

My wife just got done going through the sputum test. It takes three days. She has to go to the clinic every morning to give a sample. It's not painful, they just make you cough so they can get the sample for culture. Tell her to get some cough drops because she will have a minor soar throat the first day. Two days after the sputum test she has to return for the first results (will confirm if she has TB or not)and doctors recommendations. They will culture the sample for the next two months to confirm she does not have TB. If the sample test positive for TB then the treatment takes 7 months. She would have to live in Manila for the 7 months because, St. Luke's has to dispense the drugs daily. Lets not hope for that. Yeah two month delay, it sucks but what can we do but be patient. Good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Do you let the consulate know about the failed medical exam? Did you have to the interview  on the scheduled date? I have a similar story about my relative, not sure what to do with the current date, to go or to not go at all?

Why don't you log in on ustraveldocs and re-schedule the interview but i don't know if you can do that 24 hours before the interview but its worth giving a shot. Also in cases like this the consulate will re-schedule the appointments automatically but first I think its better to log on ustraveldocs and search for more available dates

I am unable to make any changes... Will the consulate send email/letter about re-schedule? And if we just don't show and in case the embassy is still open on 31st, would it count against us if we don't go? What is the procedure to re-schedule?

  13. Hello,
My grandmother has VAC appointment tomorrow (8/30/2017)  and Interview on the following day (8/31/2017) in Mumbai Consulate. There is terrible rain and flooding issues. The trains have been cancelled and the Mumbai city itself is closed due to it. I do not know about the consulate. My family is suppose to leave for Mumbai in early train on 30th. We have tried contacting the consulate but a very rude man answered and said he cannot provide any information. Can you guys please help? What should we do? What is the procedure to reschedule for both VAC and interview?

And also another question, my other family member didn't pass their medical exam, they need further examinations done. The medical office said to just not show up on the interview. Is No-Show allowed or should we reschedule their interview as well? Theirs is on 31st August as well.

I will really appreciate your replies. Please help!!!

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Hello, I am filling out DS-260 on behalf of my relative. I am applying for F4 based visa (uncle, aunt, and their two kids). I was able to sign and submit 3 application online but I am having trouble with the last one. Seem like I am not able to sign it. I keep clicking the sign icon but nothing happens!! I am wondering if anyone is encountering the same problem and will it be fixed. And who should I call to submit it via phone if the problem persist?

    Thanks a bunch!

  16. It is not adjustment of status you'll chase, it is the removal of conditions. I assume you have been married less than 2 years correct? If this is the case than after approx. 2 years you'll petition to remove conditions.

Once he receives his initial green card, it will say 'resident since' on it. 3 years after that he'll qualify for citizenship

    good luck

Thank a lot for your reply. So it 5 years total since the day he entered US.

The ROC filing is specific to the DAY that your spouse entered the US. So...if your spouse entered on June 5, 2014, then you back up 90 days from June 5. If your spouse entered on Jun 22, then you back up 90 days from June 22.

The three-year ticker started the day your spouse entered the US on the CR-1 visa.

Our ROC "filing date" is April 16, 2016, so we are busy putting our package together!

Be sure to use the new I-751 form...

    Sukie in NY

All the best! And thank you for feedback!
