  1. Sorry, I have been so busy, I haven't checked the posting. Mashallah, i'm glad you have your appointment scheduled, and by now it is finished. Did it go well? Alhamdullilah, my wife's appointment is March 27. I'm trying to find out when I should tell her to be in Abu Dhabi for her medical, pictures and things. Also, I'm trying to schedule her flights. If you have any advise, it would be so appreciated.

Alhamdullilah, my wife's case was completed by the NVC on Oct 26th.:dancing: Does anyone know about how long it will take for the NVC to schedule her appointment in Abu Dhabi ???

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to ease my wife's concerns about waiting too long. I keep telling her she should be so so so happy that things have gone this well, alhamdullilah. But I know it's hard on her.

Any clue would be much appreciated. Trying to plan on ticket prices and time off from work.

    Thanks.

  2. Shukran Matt. I appreciate the help, I'll definitely look up Brad. Inshallah we will all be with our loved ones soon. Ameen.

:innocent: hala! ya salam. Sabre aboy i happened to read your post, and i suggest you message 'brad836'.. search his Id on the search page. He is an Iranian and his wife had gone through Abu Dhabi Embassy.

    Hope this could help you..

Walla Inshallah everything's gonna be just fine!

  3. Did anyone going through Abu Dhabi get an interview date yet (for I-130)??? This waiting is hard. I know it's hard on all of us. If the embassy would just give us an interview date, at least we would have an idea when we could be together.

Has anyone going for their K-1 had their interview yet? How was it?

    Thanks.

Did you get a date for the interview yet?

I am going through the same wait time, Our case was completed in July 20th at NVC. Still waiting for a date for interview..

We are going through the same process as yourself CR-1/IR-1 through Abu Dhabi.

Just to give you a little idea, our case was completed on the 8th September, unfortunatly still no interview ...

OOooooh WOW. OK, now i'm feeling a mood crash. :o:unsure: Would you mind updating or sending me your timeline so I could see it, and compare. Our I-129F is still pending also. Is your spouse from Iran also?

  5. We've had very few people go through the UAE. At this point, the NVC will send your visa packet to the embassy/consulate. The embassy/consulate will then send your wife papers that she needs to fill out. After she sends those back, the embassy/consulate will schedule an interview.

Unfortunately, I don't think there will be anyone here who can help you time specifics. It could be a few weeks for her packet to arrive, and then a few more months until the interview.

It is a very stressful process! I hope things move quickly for you both!

Yeah, Abu Dhabi is one of the few embassies that the NVC actually handles all the information for, and schedules the appointment for. I'm not sure if thats better or worse for our timing. I called the NVC to try and get a better idea, they just said it depends on the embassy load, and that once they schedule it the NVC will send me a letter. So I guess, I'll just have to keep praying and waiting. But after I go through it, i'll post it so some other poor sap has an idea.

  7. Oops! Sorry! I forgot about the backround check. My case was back in 2002! So I guess I didn't have a backround check done. I've seen other people havin their visa in hand immidiately though. This ad. process is new. But I'm not sure exactly how it works! Parents of a friend of mine got their green card lasr December. The mother was given the visa immidiately and the father had to go back to Iran and wait for ad. process which was done in 5 weeks. So I'm not sure how exactly it works.

Thanks sooooo much for the help. Now I feel a little more comfortable. :D I'm debating on whether to get certified copies from the IRS or just bring my copies of the tax returns. I pray she doesn't get an AP :( God willing it will all work out and be the best for us, and most EASY :D

Thanks again for your input. It really helped me grasp the process a little more.

  8. Hi,

I am from Iran too and i think our case is in the same process. Please let me know if NVC has assigned a case number for your wife. It must be like ABD2006######

if NVC assigned a number then it takes about 2-3 months to schedule an interview date (if your case is Cr-1 or IR-1). then they will send you a packet including interview date and medical test letter. your wife should go to Abu Dhabi for medical test and interview. hopefully her background check takes just a few weeks after interview. So i'm not sure if she can flight to US directly from Abu Dhabi after interview as Her visa validity will be just 14 days. The best way is some tour agencies which have designed trips to Abu Dhabi just for interview in US embassy. Then she should check Abu Dhabi wheb site to see if he case number is in their list. http://uae.usembassy.gov/immigrant_status.html . once she found her case number in this site it means that Administrative process is finished and her visa is ready. this time she can schedule her trip from Abu Dhabi to US. Please let me know if i can help you more.

I hope your wife comes with you soon.

    Arash

Mersi Arash. Yes she has an NVC case# with ABD2006######. Alhamdullilah her case has been flying through the NVC. It has been at the NVC for 4 weeks, and this week they are sending me the DS-230 and I-864, inshallah. Is there any way to start her background check before her interview ? I will be taking unpaid leave from work to be with her at the interview, and I want to bring her back with me to the US, because I can't afford to fly back to get her again, and I know she will not want to fly alone from Iran to the US.

Thanks again. Let me know when you get an interview date. I'd like to keep in touch so I know what to do next.

    Khuda hafez

  9. Sorry if I misunderstood but do you mean can she do the medican and interview in one trip? I suppose so! I'm not sure how long it usually takes the embassy there to issue a visa but if she is approved and they don't do any name checks then she should get it maybe the next day and can leave for the US. Usually women have an easier time than men in terms of not being on AP/AR for long periods of time.

    Good luck!

    Sarah

Thanks Sarah, I appreciate the information. I'm just getting nervous, and trying to make sure I understand everything I need to get in order before she goes for the interview.

  10. Salaam Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. My wife's I-130 is at the NVC and thank God, is getting closer to moving to the embassy. I was wondering if anyone has been through the process with the embassy in Abu Dhabi and had any advice to share.

One question off the top of my head is, will she be able to go to the UAE from Iran, and do her medical, interview, etc on one trip and then come to the US if she is approved? Another would be how long would she be there? I'm planning on meeting her in UAE to be at the interview, God willing.

    Thanks

  11. Thanks for all the help guys.

I know this is a dumb question, but what exactly is the difference between the CR-1 and IR-1. I am trying to use James Shortcuts, and I'm not sure which category we fall in.

    Thanks for the help

Your process will be CR-1 process, if your marriage is less than two years old and your process will be IR-1 process, if your marriage is minimum two years old. When your spouse will arrive in the USA, he/she will be given either CR-1 status or IR-1 status depending on the length of your marriage at that time. With CR-1 visa, one has to remove the conditions as soon as the marriage is two years old. But with IR-1 status, there is no need to remove conditions. CR-1 status means conditional permanent resident status.

  12. As I am Muslim, I can understand where you are coming from. I do know US law only recognizes 1 marriage at a time. For instance, if a man has 2 wives, he could only file for the 1st wife to come to the US.

According to the instructions on the I-130 you must show documentation that all prior marriages were legally terminated. So you may still be OK, since he has already legally ended all other marriages, and is only married to you.

In my opinion, I can't see that you would have to remarry, because there are scores of countries around the world that recognize polygamy. So, I'm not sure it would be fair to make some one remarry his wife after they have been married for say 30 years, and then have to go through the conditional residence status scenario.

Another thing to think about for additional supporting evidence, is since he did Islamically divorce his other wife some time ago, maybe he could have the witnesses (possibly a shiekh or imam) sign an affadavit stating when/where he divorced her.

But I would definitely consult an immigration attorney before you file anything.

    I wish you the best.

  13. Awesome new PT! :dance::dance::dance:

Glad to hear that you are on your way to the embassy. Best wishes for a quick interview and to be reuinited with your love.

Encorage those who havent gotten their approvals yet, they are still struggling!

    Rob and Melinda

Definitely. Thanks for the help and sharing the joy guys. I can definitely say VJ has been a BIG theraputic help for me during this whole process. For all those worrying, just think they just approved my wife's petition, and she lives in Iran. You guys CAN'T be far behind :D

  14.:dancing::dance: Our I-130 was just approved on Monday! Thank God. My wife and I are so excited. I know we still have a ways to go, but it just feels good to know we're moving along.:dancing::dance:

From what I see from others, it looks like it take the NVC about 14 weeks from assigning a case number to case complete, correct ??? I had already read about James's shortcuts for the NVC, a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know about how much time the short cuts save ?

    Thanks

  15. Congratulations, hope the next stage goes quickly for you

Check out my timeline it took just over two weeks to reach the NVC

Munchkins, my wife's I-130 was just approved :dancing::dance:

I was looking at your timeline to get an idea of how long the process takes from here. Did you use Jame's shortcuts, or just the 'normal' way of waiting for the bills/fees and mailing them back to the NVC ?

    Thanks for the help

  17. It depends on the country you're gettting them from.

In Brazil, they expire within 90 days.

Thanks for all the help guys. My wife is from Iran, so looking at the website, it seems the police report is good for 6 months. Thanks so much for the info and support. This community really makes waiting for her a lot easier. :)
