  1. Hello,

My IR1 VISA just arrived today, nice and secure in my passport! I'm going to be moving to the US in a few months. I'm aware that when I enter the US I will have to apply for my green card, which can take a long time to be received?

However I was wondering the process from entering the US to getting my driving licence and what I need? I can't seem to find a process anywhere, but I know living in the US without a car will be very painful!!!!

Would be great if anyone has any advice or done the same themselves.

    Thanks

  2. Hello,

I received my case complete from the NVC on the 28th July, I booked my medical soon after and completed my medical on the 12th August in London.

I received an email on the 28th August giving me an interview at the London Embassy on the 22nd September.

If you have a case complete from the NVC you should book your medical before you go to America.

I would look into booking an open return flight, you would need to contact the airlines directly to do this.

  3. Hello,

My progress seems different from others and I was wondering if anyone else has had something similar.

I was final able to pay my $325 IV fee on the 6th June, a few days later my IV application was available and I submitted the IV application on the 12th June.

However since the 20th June the website is now showing my IV fee as NOT PAID and I can't review my submitted IV application, of course they are no help on the phones. I just don't know if I need to start the process again.

Has this happened to anyone else?

  4. Hello,

The NVC website is keeping me on my toes again... we paid our IV fee on the 6th June and is showing up on our receipts. I then submitted the IV application on the 12th June, I thought we were finally winning on the website. How wrong was I ha.

The past few days when I log onto the website to check everything is still ticking along the IV fee has gone from PAID to PAY NOW and I don't have access to the IV application anymore. We called them and they confirmed that they have received the IV fee, but honestly I'm more worried that they have lost my IV application and they don't know on the phone?! That application was the most intense application I've ever done in my life! I really hope I don't need to do it again and be delayed longer.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

  5. Hello Everyone,

Thought I would ask the question as I'm always unsure what is going on with this VISA process....

We completed the DS-261 on 12th May and paid the ASOS fees on the 13th may and showed as PAID a couple of days later.

Everything else on the website shows N/A for example supporting and finance docs, IV application, civil docs.

The IV fee shows PAY NOW but when I click on the link the fee shows as zero.

There doesn't seem to be any link to start the DS-260 and I can't click the IV application button on the top right, should I continue to wait for something to happen or is there other steps I can be doing?

    Thanks for your support guys!

  7. Make sure to read the guides here.

Had you started the process while your wife was still in the UK you actually would have had a much easier/faster time of it all. Can she still legally reside in the UK? There is an option called DCF and London is one of the few places in the world where it is available. You would cut your immigration time down to 4 months vs over a year.

Do you have any more information on this????? my wife's UK VISA is still valid for another year and she could come back at anytime but only for short periods of time.... She already has a job in America but I like the sound of cutting the duration down to 4 months!!!!

  8. Hello,

We've been married for 1 year 8 months and my American wife received a UK VISA after marriage and we have been living in the UK (The UK has a great 2 month VISA process!!!!) She has now moved back to America after struggling with the UK job market and I'm looking to follow. We are going to start the IR-1/CR-1 VISA process and start our long wait. However we are unsure when to submit the claim?

I've been reading if you've been married less than 2 years you get issued the CR-1 and then to get the IR-1 you need to reapply and pay something in the area of $600 to change your CR-1 to a IR-1?

However we are 4 months away from being married 2 years. I would prefer not to wait an additional 4 months till we can start our VISA process. However we aren't sure if we submit the I-130 this week the date on the application will be during our <2 year marriage and we might get a CR-1 which will instantly be out of date and have to reapply for the IR-1 and pay even more money.

Has anyone come across anything similar or know of any resources to point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

    Ian
