  1. Hey guys, my visa interview is on April 27 at 7AM, so called Andrews Memorial today to scheduled my medical appointment thinking I would get a date in the 1st week of April, instead I got April 15. Which I think is TOO close to the interview date.

    1. What's the recent average time that it takes Andrews to issue medical reports?
    2. Also, how long until the visa is issued and in my hands after the visa is approved?

Visa class: IR-2 (minor child of a US citizen)

  2. Can you tell me how long you waited to hear from the consulate after they received your information from the NVC? They received odd ours on Feb 6 and we have heard nothing yet from the consulate. Thanks and congrats!!

Hey MashNme, the process for K-1 visas is different from IR-2 (which is my visa category). The embassy has never contacted me, NVC completed my case then set my appointment with the Kingston Embassy and emailed me the appointment date.

Sorry about the long wait, good luck.

  3. Dear Sir/Madam, All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified. The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview. Sincerely, Director National Visa Center<<<<<<<<<<<<<< that's what the email say

Yes it's a case complete email. NVC will forward the petition and any documents your uncle and petitioner submitted to the Kingston Embassy for his interview. See my post above.

  4. This is what the document stated

Certificate(s) of No-Impediment to Marriage: If you have any Jamaican-resident children 2/06/2013 who will accompany you and who are aged 18 or older, each such child can present a Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage issued by the Registrar General’s Department on security paper. In addition, if you are a Jamaican resident and are seeking a visa in a category that requires you to be unmarried (IR2, IR3, IR4, F11, F22, or F24) and you are aged 18 or older, you can present a Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage issued by the Registrar General’s Department on security paper.

The wording is very loose "...if you are a Jamaican resident and are seeking a visa in a category that requires you to be unmarried (IR2, IR3, IR4, F11, F22, or F24) and you are aged 18 or older, you can present a Certificate of No-Impediment...". They said can, which makes me think that it is not absolutely required. That's why I wanted to know what other Vjers have done.

  5. Can you tell that I'm overly excited? Yeahhhh! I received my interview letter today (via email). My Interview is scheduled for April 28, 2015, which is also my parents' wedding anniversary :dancing: . Thank god this process will soon be over, I hate the long waiting and uncertainty.

I do have a question to my fellow VJers. My visa class is IR-2 and I just turned 22 years old. Do I really need to submit a Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage. I always thought that was only for K-1 filers but I did some reading and I may need to get it. What you guys think? DO you have any tips for an IR-2 visa interview?

Also good luck to everyone who is still at the NVC stage, I know what it's like, especially being checklisted. Continue to keep the faith!

  6. Hey everyone, I received my case complete email on January 22, 2015 (IR-2 Visa). It's been over a month now and I still haven't received the follow-up email or phone call with the scheduled interview date.

I checked other Jamaicans' timeline and the average time for visa scheduling at KINGSTON is about 1 month, does anyone know what's happening/causing the delay at the KINGSTON embassy or NVC? I really need to leave for the US by May to be with my parents, but it may not be likely anymore. :clock:

  7. Hey VJ family. We just got checklisted! . My parents received a checklist via email for our AOS packet, this is part of the email we received:

Checklist for I-864A (filed by LAST NAME, FIRST NAME)

NVC has reviewed the financial evidence submitted. However, additional information is
required to complete the financial evidence review. Please provide all requested documents and
refer to page two for mailing instructions.
    General Instructions
[x] You will need to complete and submit the new form completely filled out (all pages required), which includes
the changes noted below. Submitting single pages of the form with the correction is not acceptable. In order
to make corrections you will need to download a new form at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov.
Part 1 Information on the Household Member
[x] LAST NAME, FIRST NAME's income indicated on line 11 of the I-864A does not correspond to that shown on
the most recent tax return and W-2(s).
    [LBL 11/11/2014]

We did review the documents and the values on the tax return does NOT match the W-2 because the tax return was rounded UP by the IRS. What we wrote on the I-864A was the income from the tax return and NOT the W-2. But either way we would have gotten checklisted because all the values don't match (precisely).

    Example:

    -Tax return: $56,982.80

    -I-864A: $56,982.80

    -W-2: $56,982.79

This is just silly, its not our fault the IRS rounded up the figure.

Is there anyway for us rectify this problem and NOT have to resend the form and wait another 60 day for them to get to our AOS packet again, because It really wasn't our fault.

    Other case details:

    -Visa class: IR-2

-Case filed by my step dad (USC), mother (LPR) is the co-sponsor, also, the checklist is for her income

-We already submitted our IV packet 60 days ago with the first AOS packet.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you resolve it?

    What our next step (best)?

    Thanks for the help guys.

    :) but

  8. Hey guys, I am currently at the last stages of NVC (waiting for case complete) for a IR-2 visa. My parents already submitted a few of the documents on the packet 3 checklist (police record [date: august 2014], certified copy of birth certificate) in our IV packet that was sent to NVC in september 2014. Will I have to get a new police record and should I carry the original document to the interview (when the time comes)?

    Thanks for any assistance :)

  9. Hey guys, I have a question. I am currently at the last stages of NVC (waiting for case complete) for a IR-2 visa. My parents already submitted a few of the documents on the packet 3 checklist (police record [date: august 2014], certified copy of birth certificate) in our IV packet that was sent to NVC in september. 10. Hey guys, my parents have 2 cases at the NVC, one for my brother (age 17) and one for me (age 21, filed when I was 20). They received an email on April 21, 2014 with an Invoice to pay for my brother's IV application, did not receive one for me, they paid it and it shows as PAID in the online system.

In June 2014 (not sure the exact date) they received an email to pay the affidavit of support fee ($88) for me. They paid on June 6, 2014 and the status said PAID since June 9, 2014 and the online system still shows MY IV application invoice as "NOT INVOICED" and my parents have yet to receive an email with the IV application invoice to pay for me.

    1. Why did they generate an IV invoice for my brother and not me? Is it his age?
    2. We are about the mail in the AOS packages for both of us, and the IV package for my brother, can we go ahead and send my IV package before it's invoiced?
    3. Is anyone else experiencing this much delay at this stage of the NVC process?

We've called them and they said that they are backlogged but 3 MONTHS? :ranting::ranting: That is ridiculous, it's just so weird that they didn't generate my IV invoice the same time as my brother. :(

PS: my brother and I do NOT live in the US with our parents.

  11. I think I found the answer for anyone who may be experiencing similar trouble ( this article seems old though):

the I-864 asks the sponsor to identify the accompanying, derivative family members. It specifies that the sponsor is not to include any family members who are being petitioned on separate I-130s. For example, if a U.S. citizen is petitioning his parents, the sponsor counts one of the parents as a household member, but not both, when completing the I-864 for that parent. He or she counts the second parent as a household member, but not the first, when completing the I-864 for that second parent.

  12. Hello everyone, I have been reading posts on this forum for months now, this website is a very helpful resource. :)

My stepdad has 2 cases being processed at NVC, one for me (age: 21, protected by CSPA :dancing:) and the other for my brother (17) so he is in the process of filling out 2 AOS forms (http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864.pdf) but we need some help with 'Part 5 Sponsor's Household Size'. (See image below for what we filled out so far in that part of the form).

    NMdlqrh.png?1

    Here's the situation:

    • He is currently married to and lives with my mom in the US. That means that the current household size is 2.
    • The household size needs to equal to 4 (because there are 2 intending immigrants, me and my brother, right?) (PS my brother and I do NOT live with them in the US). It is currently equal to 3 based on the options on the form (see the image below)

Where in this section of the form should/could he indicate my brother as a member of the household? What do people normally do in this section when they have separate cases.

Please help! If you need more info or need me to clarify anything let me know.

    Thanks guys. :dancing:
