Ian trying to help My friend out Who recently got married to her boyfriend. What are her steps?
Does she have to apply for I130 first before submitting AOS package?!
-
So back in February/ March I had to send back my green card cause they issued me the wrong card (10yr card tho I should have had a 2yr...)
Did my biometrics in April and have no heard anything ever since. Anyone who knows how long it normally takes?! I know it is a loooong wait....
Just to be sure - I was given my work permit pretty much the same day as my green card was approved, assuming I don't have to worry about that work permit (since that is only issued for a year) since my green card was approved already?
-
Ahm I would say match green card with your passport. Or mayby make an infopass appointment.
-
My GC arrived with incorrect data on it and we filed for I90 back in March, I went to my uscis office and got the I551 stamp and I've used it to travel out of the country with no problemas at all.
You would need to make an info pAss, bring passport, I90 acceptance letter and they can issue it for you right away! Took less than 10 minutes for us to be in and out.
-
I had to file I90 and send my green card away too, I90 (by paper and mailed everything together) takes around 6-9 months... Awful long...
After about 2/3 weeks of filing I had another biometric done.
I also made an info pass to get an I551 stamp (which I am using right now for traveling)
-
I kept my green card for a month so we could travel with it for our honeymoon. No problem at all coming back to the states! Just make sure you bring passport, GC and marriage certificate if you changed your last name.
-
I had an info pass spot last week and they printed out my biometric appt letter and I was scheduled on a date which I could not do and simply asked if he could change it now and then but he said: try go a day or two before the date and they will let you in.
I went to do my biometric yesterday (a week before I was scheduled) and that was no problemo
-
I had an info pass today regarding an I90 and the guy was able to print out my biometric appointment BUT I will be traveling on the scheduled date and the guy told me I could just go there a day ahead of time and tell them I will be away blabla...
Has anyone done this at the biometric place in port Chester, NY?? Success?!
Read so many times how people do this and they are not let in and I would rather not drive there and no be let in.
Anyone know if I can actually call this office and ask?

We did our honeymoon AFTER GC was issued and in hand. Flew from NYC/ EWR to Dominican Republic and as long as you book your airfare in passport name there's not gonna be an issue.
When we arrived back to NYC I was worried how everything was gonna go but it was so smooth and I just gave the customs my passport and GC and had our marriage certificate ready in case but it was never asked for (travelled with husband and assuming the lady figured out I took his name)... Just be sure to book flight so it match with passport and that's it

If you get the stamp, you should be fine. Do you still have your EAD/AP card?
Yes I still have that card. I was told last time I spoke to a uscis rep that my AP no longer was "acceptable/ valid" since I now had my GC....
-
By the end of January my GC was approved but I was sent the wrong card (should have had a 2yr card but got the 10yr...) anyway I sent it back with the form I90 and just yesterday I received a letter from uscis (guessing noa1)
I have made an info pass appointment for this Friday and I'm hoping I can get the i551 stamp in my passport for travel purpose (would like to travel to my home country in 2,5week)
Am I correct about this whole thing? Will I be able to get this stamp? And how about returning back to the USA, is that all safe and sound with this stamp?
I know very little about this process and have not been able to get much information...
Thanks for any kind of tips you may have!!
-
You would need to file I-90 and send the green card back for correction. It takes a while but it won't cost you anything.
I just sent mine back!
-
Due to my conditional green card having error I recently sent it back to uscis for correction, now I have a trip I possibly would want to do coming up in 3/4weeks, is it possible for me to get the I551 stamp in my passport to prove my immigration status?
I have scheduled an info pass already. Do I need to have done biometrics before I can have the stamp issued?! Is a conditional holder allowed this stamp even?! Anything else I should think of?
-
Yes, you should bring something that says you applied for I-90.
Any idea when I would be getting that after sending them my stuff?
-
I sent my I90 package including my GC (error cause by DHS) and now I just realized that i could travel home to Sweden for a week in April but obviously I would need either my GC or the i551? Stamp which I would go to an info pass in Hartford and get.. Question now is - before I go to this info pass do I need like an acceptance letter from uscis that they recieved my GC and I90 papers?!
Super confused how the process of after sending I90 and whatever but ahm yeah... Anyone knows anything?
-
We had to file I90 cause of an error caused by DHS, how is the procedure of this I90? Will we get a NOA1?!
The package was delivered today so assuming I will have to wait a few days until we hear anything but curious how this works, please fill me in if you know

Seems like you already know the answer to your questions - obviously you could face problems if he doesn't come back soon as a GC is for living in America. If he cannot commit to the life here then mayby you two need to consider perhaps his country? I really doubt you buying a ticket for him and he didn't use it has any kind of "good news" to your ROC. Sounds like all you can do is to try get him back, discuss the future, then move on from there and see what ROC brings you but one thing I could almost ensure you is - the longer he stays out of the country and away from you the harder ROC will be.

So here's my question, I received my green card with an expiration error (received the 10yr card and not the conditional 2yr card) so anyway, since I need to file form i90 and send my green card back to uscis do I check
I am a lawful/ conditional resident
Or...
I am an alien authorized to work
When I now need to sign papers for my new job??
-
Mine was approved like this as well took about a week before I had my GC in hand! Congrats!!
-
So I received my green card a few weeks ago with an error. Supposed to get the 2 yr conditional card but got the 10yr, now about to file I90 to have this corrected.
What are the supporting documents I need to file with it to make sure USCIS knows they did the error and not me?
*I90 form
*green card
*COPY or certified marriage certificate?! (If even needed?)
Anyone who can direct me to the correct forum or another similar thread about this?

I sent 3 service request and waited 95 days and then wops my EAD/AP and green card was approved.
I called for one service request when I was on day 87, sent one online on day 75 and then another one on day 91
-
Just remember the I90/ new corrected card will take about 5/6 months apparently..
I have same with my card, was issued a 10yr card when I should have had a 2 ur card.
I used this GC to get my drivers license tho cause I refuse to wait another 5 months lol.
-
Would it otherwise cause problems keeping the 10 year rather than applying for a 2 year gc?
Yes and no. I could keep it and pretend like nothin BUT I know the rules are different for someone who hasn't been married 2 years so I would want to have it corrected rather than living with it in the back of my head.
-
Just wonder you are not happy to have a 10 years card ? How long you had been married upon approval ?
We got married last October..
I90 - 9months later.....

My GC was approved back in February and in march I sent my card back cause USCIS gave me a ten year card and I was supposed to have the two yr card. Anyway, I did my biometrics long time ago and now nine months later I still haven't heard anything. Sent a service request in this past week which I got back almost immediately with a "case closed" and nothing they could do about it.
My stamp in my passport (I551 for travel) expired a few months back.
Like HOW long should I seriously wait?? Anything I can do to see what's going on?!
