Guys, long time lurker here. I posted quite a bit 3 years ago when I first applied for my conditional green card. Anyway, I'm an August filer, CSC, and I just got my 10 year GC on the mail on Saturday!!! Just wanted to let you know things seem to be going in the right direction now!!
Hang in there, you will get approved soon!! good luck everyone

I did use my SSN as I was employed at my university... and I believe I did mention that on i-485... but nothing related to employment was asked during the interview... which lasted about 15 minutes. I was in and out in 30 min.
Pretty smooth process, but I did my homework before filing my AOS package... took me over 15 days to put it together...didn't want to have any RFEs..
-
Thank you guys....very excited to be done with the process... of course, I still have to file more paperwork in a little less than 2 years.... but that's easier.
By the way, I went to the SS office, and they will give me a new card. they also recorded all the numbers on the back of the card.....The endorsement will be gone like you mentioned

Hi guys,
I want to thank everyone that helped me during the process!!!! I received my green card today!!! yay!! I had my interview last week (Oct 30) and approved right away...
I filed my AOS package back on August 19th, so a little under 2 months and 20 days from beginning to end... very exited to be done with the process.
One last question... I was a student prior to the adjustment of status, and I had my conditional social security card... do I need to visit my local office to have it replaced?
Again, thank you very much VJ

Just received my letter yesterday... and I have to agree with you... it is a little confusing. Not asking for any specific documents makes you wonder what exactly is it that they want. My guess is that they want to see originals of any document you might have submitted with your AOS package...
A lot of the items listed were already submitted when I filed my applications...
-
supergirl,
did you get any RFEs since you filed?
-
Wow, so that is good news..... roughly 2 months 1 week after I mailed the documents!!!
How likely is it to get a RFE at this point?
-
I submitted my AOS package on August 19th.... got the biometrics done on September 19th, and I just checked online and I have an interview scheduled for October 30th...
Is that fast, average or slow?
Also, can I still get a RFE once the interview is already scheduled?
Thanks

Hi everyone... I would like to start by thanking everyone for their help... I filed my i-485, i-130, i-131 and i-765 forms last Tuesday (F1 student married to USC), and I already received 4 email confirmations last night. However, it seems like one of them, the i-485, was transferred to Nebraska...is that common? will that delay the process? Thanks
-
Hi, I am planning on adding form I-131 with my AOS package.... but I would like to know if RFE are common for this form, or if it is a yes or no kind of answer. I am thinking about filing this form "just in case"... I have elderly relatives, family, etc.... just planning for the worst case.
However, I don't want this to slow the process as I don't have a strong enough reason to leave the country, and they may require further evidence..... what is your opinion on this?
Thanks
-
Ok, that is what I thought, it just seemed redundant to me...wow, getting the package ready is taking me longer than I expected.. even when I have all the required initial evidence.....
-
Thank you once again Hypnos!!!
Do I need to file form G-325 A twice? one with I-130 and one with I-485???
-
Thanks Hypnos.... I think I'm ready now..
Should I add older I-20's and I-94.. or just my latest...
-
First, I would like to start by thanking everyone in this forum...it really helped me preparing my AOS package...
I think I have all the documents necessary now, including the doctor's examination.......but I still have a few last minute questions... A quick reminder, I am a F1 student married to a USC applying for green card
1..Form I-485.. Date of Las Arrival? Do I use the date on my I-94 or the last time I got back to the US.. as you know, most student are allow multiply entries to the country... without the need of a new I-94...D/S
Same thing in Part 3, section A... Place of Last Entry into the United States?
Also, form I-765, item 12 Date of Last Entry into the US
2..Is it a good idea to file form I-131 if there is no specific reason to leave the country, just "in case"? You never now what life can bring you, and for some reason something happens to a relative, I would like to be able to go back.. Like I said, just in case... Does the fact of adding form I 131 has any detrimental effects on their final decision... I don't want to look too "needy" about going back.
3...Form I 765, item 16... do I check ©(9)?
4..Form I-130 does not allow you to use non numerical characters when you are suppose to write date.. for instance, D/S or Present... do I leave it blank and write by hand?
Similar thing in Form G-325A... some last names do not fit in the box... do I write it by hand?
5... What do you use to file the package... I know that you should avoid staples.. so do I just make a gigantic pile of paper, or do I use folders to separate forms and their respective evidence... Were you guys able to mail it in a regular envelope.. Just the tax documents for three years will make 10-12 pages......
Again, thanks for your help!!

Thanks guys.... it is correct, it is very hard to prove that you will be employed after you become resident... at least in my case. Research assistantship is pretty much provided on semester basis... and there is no guarantee you will be receiving long term.
I don't want to wait until next year since I'm planning on graduating this semester (also part of the reason I cannot prove I will be employed in the future). Also, I want to have our religious wedding in my home country, so we have to wait for that until my AOS is done.....
Now, what happens if for some reason they don't feel my wife's income is enough? I'm thinking worst case scenario here, as we already got a letter stating that she earns more than the requirement and we have payment stubs for 6 months confirming that.... do they usually reject the entire package... or do you get a chance to add a co sponsor....
Thanks
-
Thanks.. so is it G 325 or G 325A??.. I'm seeing conflicting information here... both forms look the same....
-
Hi guys... it's me again... a couple of questions regarding filing form G-325.. first do I fill form G-325 or G-32A?
Also, at the bottom of the form, "this form is submitted in connection with an application for: Naturalization, Status as Permanent Resident and Other"??
We are submitting our package for AOS.. she (my wife) is the USC... should we check "other" in both? and write down form I-130 in hers and I-485 in mine?
Thanks for your help... tons of very useful information here

Hi guys, like I mentioned earlier, I'm a F1 student trying to adjust my status after marrying my wife (USC)... now, I have a question filing form I-765 since I had an OPT in the past when I finished my master's, prior to going back to school. In line 11, I mark Yes right? the USCIS office from which I received the letter is Mesquite, TX... is that the office that I use?? I did a quick search and I didn't find that office....it was back in 2008
Lastly, in line 16, do I still put ©(9)??
Thanks a lot!!!
-
Thanks again guys.... is it a good idea to add stuff related to my income (IRS, pay stubs, etc) even if I do not state that in the form... does it hurt to add more, or does that just confuses the officer....I just want to reassure them that we won't be a liability...
-
No, we can get a letter without the date.... of course, we don't want to lie..... she will continue working there even after that date...
-
Thank you everyone, it is now clear what I need to do....
One final question, my wife's job is renewed on yearly basis, so the letter she received states that she has a job until June 2015....would that hurt us...???
-
Newbie, you're right, my wife, the USC, is the one filling the application... but since we do it together sometimes I mention myself as the one filling it. And the way you suggested is how we initially filled it out.... what I meant to ask on my previous post is how is it supposed to be in case I want to add my income.
Now, after reading the instructions a hundred times, there are still a few confusing terms, for instance, the second to last paragraph on page 6:
"For purpose of this affidavit, the line for gross (total) income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income...."
I also spoke to an immigration firm in the past, and they mentioned that what is on her 1040 forms is what counts... that if we didn't meet the requirements based on 2013 taxes I needed a co sponsor.....
-
Thanks, I understand what current means, but since they ask for your 1040 forms, I assumed they meant that... your last taxes, which happen to be 2013...
Now, will it hurt to add her current income, which is barely over 20K as well as mine, just to be safe?
My concern is when filling part 3 item 1 "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2" would I have to check NO?. Also, Item 7 in Part 3 will be 0, is that correct?
-
thanks guys, I was reading that too, but everything is confusing.... a lawyer told me that I cannot include my income... but the form says otherwise.
Now, let's say I don't include my part,.. what should I add as her income, her current (2014) or last years income.. Like I said earlier, we can proof that she earns enough right now... isn't that the whole point, to avoid people asking the government for money? In the end, what if you claimed you earned X amount back in 2013 but you are currently unemployed!!!
Travel in the last 5 years, I lived in the border!!!!
in US Citizenship General Discussion
Posted
Hi guys, just received my 10 year green card this weekend after removal of conditions... and now trying to complete the final step!!!
My question is regarding travel in the last 5 years, and here is the problem. I lived in the border for my first 1.5 years after becoming legal resident. The thing is, my family lived only 40 miles away from me, in Mexico. I found myself crossing the border about every other weekend just for a day or two. We (my wife and I) both have family and friends living there, so we traveled whenever we wanted. When you cross the border by car, you don't get a stamp on your passport, so there is no way for me to know. Also, no cc record as I mostly used cash. It is nearly impossible for me to remember when and for how long I was there.
Also, do I need to report all 5 years even if I'm applying after being a GC holder for 3 years... I had a student visa before that!!
Any other Mexicans/Canadians that faced the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
