Just wondered what people think is the best route for a fiance coming from the Philippines on her visa, I was considering setting up a flight through Hong Kong but not sure if she would be held up or not on exit if we decided to spend a night there. The other option I have is to send her through Guam to Honolulu. I'm planning on meeting her on her way here either in Hong Kong or Guam and riding back with her too.

What does "Derivative" mean on the SLEC website for medical exams? My fiance and I are both a little confused, I'm thinking it is for anyone else applying like children or relatives. I've sent an email to SLEC but haven't heard anything back yet, hoping someone here can confirm this for me.

What were the first available interview dates when you had to reschedule?

We will be scheduling our interview appointment shortly.

First available date was the 5th I believe but it looked pretty open with the exceptions of the 4 days after the 15th. It kept changing though. Last week of Jan looked wide open so we scheduled for the 22nd.

Just wanted to drop a line to anyone planning to schedule their interview for January in Manila, the Pope will be visiting January 15th. We found out the hard way, as soon as the schedule opened up we had an open spot for the 15th which was subsequently canceled due to that. I heard that the holiday is planned for 4 days in Manila. Just wanted to share that little tidbit that I discovered lol.

My fiance (petitioner) did it for me.. We talked about our target date for my interview and when it showed up open on the website he scheduled it for me. He emailed me the appointment letter/confirmation page.

I'm so scared of screwing something up lol. Hopefully the stuff for January and February will open up on the website soon so we can get something scheduled.

Hi guys, just a quick question regarding the scheduling page. My fiance is having some trouble with the internet at her house and I was wondering if it was ok for me to log into her schedule from my office and watch the open appointments for her? I'm in front of a computer all night long.

We know that there are open ones in December but she's not going to have time to get the rest of the requirements done in time for the interview. We were hoping for a January or February interview so that I could go there and be with her during the interview, she doesn't want to go alone.

Hey everybody, thank you for the replies. After a lot of searching and then finally getting the instructions I think it will be pretty simple. I never had to send a copy of her passport to USCIS so we are doing ok there and the instructions for setting up an appointment that I found on the embassy website actually had numbers and the website for Philippine passport renewal in the event that it has happened like that. I am going to guess that this has happened a lot so I'm going to relax a little and give the embassy a call to make sure on Monday.

Hi guys, I think this is the right section to ask this question. I was wondering if there was a deadline to file the DS-160 application and schedule an interview for my fiance? We just received the letter and notice from the embassy saying they were ready but in a weird twist we're waiting on her new passport because her old one expired as I was filing the petition.

Whew! I had the same question and was so thankful to find this answer today. Our NOA-2 says it expires Feb 4, 2014. I have been freaking out because we have run into issues on the Haitian side of things with renewing my Fiancé's passport. It has been taking 9 months to get his new passport and we need it for the medical exam and in order to turn the packet back into the embassy to get our interview date! Wish us luck that we make some progress soon! I'm so thankful for the answers VJ has helped us with so far.

Thank you, it was a little easier than I expected, now I guess it is just a matter of gathering the rest of the documents, making copies and getting her prepared. I'm planning to be there when she goes in for her interview too, hopefully that will make it easier.

Got a notification via text on the 25th, our petition was approved and being sent to the NVC.
