  1. Guys I have a question. My wife will have her interview soon for her CR1 visa. I was wondering, can I purchase a round trip plane ticket for her to come to the states instead of a one way, to save money since its much cheaper or will it be a problem when she checks in at the airport. Someone told me that since she will have a American visa coming to America that she will have to show a one way itinerary to avoid immigration problems. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks in advance.

  2. Oh, didn't know you were self-employed. Any chance you can take screenshots of the last few payments, paste them in a Word document and print them out?

As for the employment letter, if they don't have any official letterhead, then regular paper will do. Make sure they mention the company name, your name, how long you've worked there, how much you get paid and how often.

And the fact that part of your income is being used to qualify is the likely reason why they're requesting proof of current income.

    Thank you Saylin.

  3. Your tax transcripts don't prove CURRENT income, only an employment letter and pay stubs do. Tax transcripts are for PAST income.

I'm self employed subcontracted by a company. I don't get paychecks, All my payments received are through square which is a credit card program used on my iphone. The company I'm subcontracted by doesn't have letterhead paper that they can write a employment letter on, it would just be on a plain paper typed up. What should I do? And why would they need proof of my employment if my income alone isn't enough to be a sponsor?

    Thanks.

  4. Hello friends,

Does any one knows, whats the last scan date on which NVC is working? I feel they are working so haphazardly over last week of September and its really so depressing :-(

My scan date for both AOS and IV is 26th sep and CEAC is still showing PAID :-(

This is crazy but yes I am checking Ceac 20-30 times in a day :-/

Hang in there. Hopefully we will get good news soon. I'm also still waiting with scan dates of Sep 22 for AOS and Sep 25 for IV.

I've seen people with later dates get CC. I dont know how they check cases there.

  5. I am in the same situation. Got a email with the IV invoice yesterday. Went on the website and it shows 0 and no check box available. Called NVC to find out the situation and was told that I have to let the system refresh within 24 hours. Checked today after 24 hours were up and same situation. Still shows 0. Later today got another email with IV invoice, thought maybe I'll be able to pay this time and still 0. I bet we have to wait till monday. I doubt their system refreshes during the weekend.

  6. Hey guys, I have a question about part one in the I-864 form. I am the petitioner for my wife so I will be the petitioning sponsor. My income is insufficient by myself. My brother will by a joint sponsor and his wife will file a I-864a as a house hold member since she has good income to contribute. My question is, when my brother fills out the I-864 part one where it asks to check the box if you are the only joint sponsor or if you are the first joint sponsor of two. Since his wife will fill out the I-864a, does he need to mark that he is the only joint sponsor or the next one where it says he is the first joint sponsor of two total. I'm not sure if the person filling out I-864a (his wife) is considered a joint sponsor. Please help as I don't want to receive a check list and delay the process. Thanks in advance.

  7. I think it works like this. You and your brother both fill out seperate I864's. Your brothers wife will fill out an I864A. There is another way if your brother qualifies to co sponsor with his own income. I am not sure I just thought I would chime in and try to help. Hope someone else who has actually done this can help more.

Thank you. That makes sense but I think the

I-864a is only of its a household member living with me and not my brother.

  8. Getting my AOS packet ready. I'm using my brother as a cosigner. My question is, since he is married and he filed taxes joint with his wife, in the I-864 form where it asks about annual income it gives you an option to use additional income so he wrote his wife as additional income. So they are both my sponsors. In this case, on the first section does he check that he is the only sponsor since his wife was written in as additional income or does he check that he is the first of two joint sponsors and in that case will she need to fill out a I-864 as well? Their taxes are filed joint.

Thanks in advance for the replies.
