  1. Thanks Christina but I and behold we have to wait even further because of the actual assignment of a waybill number seems to be averaging another 5 days!!!! This has to be the most excruciating wait of all its like come on now you have tormented me enough...the least they could do is fast track all the issued visas!!!!!!

Hoping that you don't have this torment in July and they are back to normal processing time by the time that u have ure interview!!

    Hi all,

just chiming in to say my visa was issued on June 30 but I have yet to receive a waybill number or any information from the consulate, either.

  2. Hi everyone,

We had our interview in Montreal today. Everything went smooth and all of the consulate staff were very helpful and kind. They said they are still not printing visas but I could expect to receive mine in about two weeks. Which, frankly, was a relief.

I will also mention that my wife, the petitioner, came along but they weren't letting in any additional people, so she had to wait at a café while I went to the interview. This might be something to keep in mind if you're interviewing in Montreal soon.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their interviews and their interview dates!

  3. For any of my fellow Canadians following along...... mining the data in Dwheels INCREDIBLE spreadsheet (cannot thank you enough for keeping that up!)

Filtering for just the Canucks (and the one on the list showing as Montreal).... in the last 18 months:

    - we're averaging about 12-13 days from CC to when the Interview is scheduled ((but that all depends on when in the month you get the CC...)

    - still running a fairly consistent average of 49-50 days from CC to the interview date itself..... ((though three recent ones have been under 35 days from CC to interview!)

Cortado... you're the only other Canadian on the spreadsheet right now waiting for an interview!! Good luck!! Hoping you get notified soon ('cause that means mine should be coming soon too! LOL )

After reading and responding to this thread, I decided to give the NVC a call and found out we have an interview for June 23! No email notification yet, but the operator said it shouldn't be too long.

Christina, that sounds about right. Though, like you mention, the time of month for CC seems key. I'm still waiting for my interview date and my hope for a June appointment is fading...

    Good luck!

  5. A follow-up on yesterday's 3 N/As...

Called and confirmed that we had a case complete (May 6). Then, this afternoon got a checklist for 2014 W2, which the petitioner had already submitted--though she had fellowship income that didn't receive a W2, so we were worried that we'd have to explain that. Called again. Operator (somehow it's Arthur like half the time) said that we should ignore the checklist and that our case was waiting for an appointment.

Those false checklists are unnerving, but it seems like it's actually complete.

  6. Thanks for the reply :). The agent told me it would be a week, but I've seen several other timelines with more immediate action, so I wanted to make sure I had my bases covered. Your comment's helped to sooth my nerves.

ArroTG, we have very similar timelines and, after our 261 was reviewed over the phone, it took about three working days for the bill to appear but I was told to expect longer. You also get an email telling you there's a new bill but with us the email still preceded the bill's actual appearance by about 6 hours.

    Good luck!

  7. Hello, I just wanted an opinion on listing American residences on the I-130.

I'm a Canadian and in 2013 I spent five months in the United States researching for my PhD. As a Canadian, I can spend up to six months in the United States in a single visit. During some of this time I was staying with my now-wife.

Should I list my US addresses as residences for this period?

Or, should I continue to list only my Canadian addresses, since those were my permanent addresses.

As I was a tourist I'm not sure if this should be listed or if it will look like I was illegally residing in the US. On the other hand, it was a time that my wife and I spent a lot of time living together.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  8. Hello All:

First post on here after extensive reading. We are a Canadian-American couple with a lot of questions.

    Situation:

    Canadian citizen husband
    American citizen wife
    Married in Europe

    He has a NEXUS card

Both PhD students in graduate programs for the next few years.

Husband a PhD student in Montreal
Wife a PhD student in New Jersey

    Plan:

To visit each other for medium-to-long stays
For her to extend her tourist stay in Canada for up to a year
For him to eventually immigrate to the United States

    Some questions:

    1) If we are travelling between Canada and the United states alone and without our spouse, for work or for pleasure, will we be able to cross the border without a visa (as we currently are able)? I.e. if I am going to the US for a conference, is my marriage to an American going to prevent me from entering the US?

    2) If we travel together between the countries, will one of us be prevented from entering?

    3) Can the Canadian citizen go to the United States to visit his spouse for a short period (1 month, say) without a visa?

    4) If she applies to extend her stay in Canada, the process takes anywhere from 25-40 days if there are no issues. Would she be able to leave Canada during this period or would that cancel her application?

    5) During what phase of the Green Card process can he enter the United States? After the I-130 approval and during the I-485 approval? Or only after the I-485 approval?

Thank you so much, these forums are extremely helpful.
