Got my card last week, waiting for my new ssn card and a call back from dmv regarding my learner's permit, apparently they have to verify my combo card first before they can issue me anything.
Anyone here having issues with e-verify self check? Or does anyone here got hired and already started working even though they're unable to check their eligibility to work through e-verify?

I don't know on what forum should i post this, but does anyone here have a experience or know anything about the possibility of derivative claim to citizenship for adult?
My mom was born March 24, 1946 to an American soldier ( during WW2) father and a Filipina mom ( by the way my grandma got pregnant when she was 16 years old ). My mom will be turning 69 yrs old this month.
To cut the story short, it was just 4years ago when me and my mom applied for a tourist visa, the consul saw that the father on my mom's birth certificate is an American, that's when he ask my mom why she's not applying for her American passport, that's the only time we knew something about derivative claim.
She went to the states to meet her half siblings and they accepted her has their sister and was told that their father ( deceased ) have been trying to locate her ever since she was a child but due to the distance it's next to impossible. She's the eldest among her siblings.
They gathered all the documents that the immigration require forms, affidavits etc. The immigration officer in Florida says she has to go back to the Philippines for her interview bec that's where they will review her case.
She got denied in the Embassy of the United States in Manila, the CO told her they only process child of an American citizen and that she's TOO OLD TO APPLY. But aren't she's a child of her father regardless of how old she is.
Physical presence, legitimation and blood relationship are all well established, in fact my mom's half sister even say if the embassy needs a DNA Test they are willing to dig out the grave of their father.
"Applicants 18 years old and over, born outside the United States, may claim U.S. citizenship through his/her biological parent who at the time of the applicant's birth was a United States citizen. Once the citizenship claim is established, the applicant qualifies for a first-time U.S. passport."

I'm curious, what date are you flying and to which airport. MNL to ?
Booked a flight Mnl-Atl, March 12
-
That's a dead link for me because the details are cache in your PC. But I never fly UA going to the east coast, they have such bad connecting flights. I always fly Delta going to the east coast...2 connecting flights and you are done! My last flight was via Japan-Detroit- Cleveland....with max of 3 hrs layover each P
And we already booked my ticket for next month (1-way) and we paid USD1100. For me, 1100 is okay to pay the price of comfort...it's not a joke to fly that long especially in the coach section. To each its own, but to other travelers who are flying to the east coast here are my suggestion: avoid JFK airport, choose 3 layover max, and as someone mentioned cheapest is not the best option.
Alright! Mr. Or Ms Everything is awesome! Lol love that movie! Love Emmet! By the way do you know where can we find great deal to fly to Nassau Bahamas & Puerto Rico?
-
Prices are jacking up because spring break is coming...I booked a Delta flight for 1100 last week. IMO, they offer the bests connection if you're flying in East Coast.
Awww good for you! How i wish i found that price when i booked 2weeks ago.
-
A good place to start looking for prices on tickets is https://www.google.com/flights/. Also try http://matrix.itasoftware.com/.
Ty i'll consider this next time we fly, i had a bad experience with a flight search engine "3rd party flight booking CHEAPOAIR" I thought i already have the greatest, AWESOMESS flight deal but it's just a ripped off. ? had to pay additional fees and cancelation is just a PITA. That's why me and my family always prefer to book directly to the airline after that bad incident.
-
Omg! Delta's new economy fare $2864 one way! I hope it's just a servers glitch ???
-
I know that, i'm not a newbie in terms of finding great deals/flight for airfares. Monitored these airlines airfares for a week ANA, JAL, Korean Air, EVAAir, PAL , Delta & United It's just that, this time i don't have any other choice. It's either i'll take this flight http://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/searchResult1.aspx or i'll pay $1200-$1300 for one way ( which is usually a price for roundtrip ticket ).A lot of stops on that flight it seems like there should of been a flight with a fewer layovers If it was purchase because of price. the cheapest flight is not always the best option.
http://www.delta.com/air-shopping/findFlights.action Delta's new economy fare. ???
-
That ticket should only cost you 600 or less.....if not, you are subjecting yourself in a lot of pain.
Jetlag and fatigue in consideration, you'll be running around from one plane to another five times. Be sure your carry-ons are light and goodluck, you'll need it.
Here's the link http://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/searchResult1.aspx
What flight will you choose? I wouldn't be having carry-on since i can check-in 2bags for free

What to expect if traveling through Guam and then onto Hawaii.
When you arrived in Guam, look for the immigration counters (print off a map [see below] and look for the red immigration boxes at the ground level so you are familiar with their location) before heading to your connecting gate/flight. If your window to board your next flight is short be sure to walk briskly to immigration. Many travelers from Manila will have only a window of about an hour and 20 minutes before their next flight. Once you arrive, the immigration officer will ask for your visa packet and your passport. They may ask you to go to another document examination room. In this room, the agent will photocopy your passport and enter some additional information in their computer to generate your I-94. Hold onto the I-94 as you will need this for additional processing of documents once you arrive in the US. After a few minutes you will be called to come forward and get your I-94 and passport. They will emphasized that you will need to get married within 90 days or else you will need to return back to the Philippines.
After leaving immigration be sure to find your gate information and pass through security on your way. Everyone must undergo security to reboard. Check your ticket for your flight to Hawaii as it may contain the phrase "SSSS" (Secondary Security Screening Selection), which requires the TSA agent to check carry-on bags and an additional inspection of you.
When you arrive in Hawaii check the gate monitors to see which gate you will be departing from as it is customary to hop on the shuttle bus going to other terminals for your domestic flight. Be sure you retrieve your luggage to take with you on the bus and recheck them in again with the airlines that you will be traveling to the mainland US on.
Flight times: Manila to Guam is nearly 4-hour trip, then Guam to Hawaii is a 7-hour trip, Hawaii to east coast is a 9.5 hour trip, time to Chicago is 8.5 hours and the west coast is about 5.5 hours.

you need to get married before the 90-day period, i know it is very important day but you don't want to mess with US immigration. Remember you still have to deal with them after the wedding and 2-3yrs after. Tell your family to come within the 90-day period. Or you and your fiance can have the ceremony first and do the reception when your relatives arrives. Good luck on your journey.
Thanks for the info chillin4me

Guam is your POE and also immigration. Others before you have stated that runs pretty smoothly. For someone else's experience see the link below.
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/518962-poe-guam-any-recent-experience/
I'll be leaving Mnl 10:55pm - Guam 4:40am, departing Guam 6:35am for the connecting flight.
I hope immigration wouldn't be so busy by that time.
Thanks Greenbaum

Guam - immigration
Honolulu - customs
Thanks Hank

Guam, since it's your first touchdown onto US Territory.
Thanks ?

Yes, Guam is my POE. Though I am still trying to find out if i have to claim bags there and go through customs, or if i'll be doing that in Honolulu. (posted a topic about it)
Woooow that is one long flight for you! Mine is MNL-Guam-Honolulu-Denver. Hope you and your mom have safe and comfortable flights!
Also posted a topic about it, it's indeed a long flight for me but hey that's the shortest flight i found for that day whooping 29hrs & 25m.
My mom's flight is better only 21hrs and 45m.
I wanted to book with PAL as i always do, MNL to LAX nonstop then AA or Delta going to Atlanta but total price would be more expensive so didn't do that this time.
-
What would be my POE?
-
Coolness! Mine was delivered yesterday and booked a flight with UNITED too. Is Guam going to be our POE? My flight details are MNL-GUAM-HAWAII-NEWYORK-ATLANTA. So i'm not sure if NY would be my POE since it's in the mainland USA or it might be GUAM since it's a US territory. I'm really not sureGot my visa yesterday and I already booked my flight with United Airlines. POE is Guam. Hope all is going well with you too!
I also booked a flight for my mom she's leaving April but her itinerary is better, MNL-TOKYO-Washington DC -Atlanta, i'm sure DC would be her POE.

Hi kipper_22. I called SLEC on wednesday to ask them if TDAP vaccine is already available and they told me it's available but limited only. They scheduled me thursday for that vaccine. I got my vaccine and they updated my Immunization chart and gave me a copy together with the envelope. If you're planning to get that vaccine you should call them now so they can schedule you.
Hello! Mind if i ask, how long did you wait or what are the procedure to get the TDAP shot when you went back at SLEC? I'm scheduled to have it on Feb23. But planning to call on the 20th to ask if it will be available.

I might be taking the seminar on these dates, it would be nice to have someone to talk and take this seminar with someone whom i can relate with. ?

One BIG warning: DON'T press your luck for day 90. The 90 days limit is strictly enforced. While marriage on the last day is perfectly valid, marriage one day too late might as well be one year too late. A late marriage, even by one day, will screw everything up.
Most states require a waiting period, typically 1 to 3 days, after the marriage license is obtained to do the ceremoney. So if you get the license on day 89 and find out that the waiting period of that state is 2 days, then you will get pushed out to day 91. Please don't let this happen.
Get the marriage license at least 2 weeks before your time is up, and plan the marriage the following week. Things happen, like snowstorms. I know one couple who had to postpone their marriage because it was set for September 12, 2001, and because of what happened the day before, they had no way of flying to the place they were supposed to marry at.
Don't wait until the last minute. This is much too important to press your luck with.
Noted, thank you for the info.
-
Thanks for the info, but i will only get married ones so i want it to be very special. I value the sanctity of marriage, so in my opinion marriages shouldn't be rushed it should be all well planned. ?Go to Las Vegas and get married, They are open 365 days per year, and hours are from 8 a.m. to Midnight.
You can have one of your friends go online become a ordained minister and he can perform the ceremony.
I feel bad for people who use marriages just to get a visa to be in a certain country they've been desirous to reside at.
