  1. My husband visited last June from the UK while we were waiting for our K1 visa.

He had a B travel visa and came out for my brother's wedding. He brought tons of support saying that he had a job to return to, money in the bank etc. When going through immigration he just said "I'm going to a friend's wedding" and it really wasn't much of an issue. The K visa didn't even come up.

Technically, K visa applicants are allowed to visit on a B visa to meet a fiance's family or make wedding plans.

    Good luck to you!

  2. My fiance put 12/14 as our intended wedding day and his interview is 12/19 as well. I contracted the embassy and they said there are no earlier dates.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems most people have have interview dates 12/18 or 12/19. I think one person may have had 12/9. Perhaps they only do K1 interviews a couple days a month? That would explain why it's impossible to get an earlier date

  3. I got approved on a tuesday. It went so quick. Done in 5 minutes lol...

Now looked at the ceac.state.gov website that my visa is in administrative process. Guess it means they are stamping it and sending it. I hoped to get it today in the mail but apparently that will be next week. I booked my flight for the 12th since they said it only takes 4-5 workdays :-)

Wish everyone else good luck! Time to get packing and then prep some papers for when I get there haha

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I was worried about exactly the same thing. My appointment was at 130 and last flight back from gatwick was 655. Give yourself an hour to get to and from the airport.

The lady advised me must exams taken alt an hour and a half.

If your fiance has a contactless Santander card they can use it for the tube without having to queue for ticket. The express from gatwick to Oxford circus runs every 15 mins btw then you can walk 5 mins to the medical

I will let you know as soon as I get word about interview dates. Fingers crossed, maybe we'll be on the same flight! Lol

    Great! Thanks for the advice!

  5. Hi all, literally just home after a long day trip to London for my medical.

I spent the past year dreading this day and even though I've read recounts telling me not to worry, I was still a ball of stress.

    Bottom line...'DONT WORRY ABOUT IT'

The staff couldn't have been nicer or more reassuring.

When you go in your met with the reception desk and asked for your paper work. Ie vaccination list, passport, police check, passport photo and medical questionnaire.

You then go to the waiting room (not unlike your regular GP waiting area) and fill out a slightly more detailed medical questionnaire.

After about 15 mins a super lovely nurse brought me to a room, confirmed all my vaccinations and reassured me of what to expect.

Immediately followed was the chest x-Ray. Bra off, fetching blue robe on.

10 mins later the lady Dr called me. I was asked to lay down while she took my blood pressure which I was positive must have been sky high but nope, it was fine. She had a quick breast check and feel of my tummy then took my blood.

The Dr was really lovely, chatty and warm. She asked me a few questions to confirm what I'd answered on my questionnaire. specifically, any hospitalisation, any allergies, any medication, if I smoked or drank, what I drank and how much ??? ...and that was it.

Sent back to get dressed, pay the bill and provided with my paperwork for AOS. The whole visit took one hour.

Thanks for the update! My fiance has his medical in London Wednesday and was concerned about having to wait and missing his flight back. (He's flying from Derry) I'm anxious to know when you're hear about your interview since it looks like we're a week behind you and were hoping for the same wedding date! (Although I have a feeling that's not going to happen)

  6. I would be curious to hear the official answer on this as well as it is not in the instructions. I said "Do Not Intend" as it makes no sense for a spouse to agree to a fixed amount of financial support (except in a divorce decree...lol). I think that is more geared towards a financial sponsor (non fiance/spouse) or a co-sponsor for an applicant.

I always found this question strange, We didn't tick any box, We just said "K1 fiance visa" Would this be alright?

Okay so I broke down and called the lawyer. The paralegal had a handy little instruction form that said to only check yes if they beneficiary will be in the US temporarily. So you guys are right, check "no" :-)

I wrote "He will be living with me and we will be sharing a joint checking account." I agree I dont think the question is directed at fiances but i wanted to put something to be safe

  8. Congratulations on all the recent approvals!!!!

I have a question about the I134. (I was about to email the lawyers but they always complicate things and VJ is way more helpful!)

My fiance already has all the supporting documents from me I'm just filing out the form now. The last part says, " I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3. If you check intend indicate the exact nature and duration of contributions etc..."

What am I supposed to put here? He's going to be my husband FFS....

  9. Where do you go to find out when your file was shipped to NVC? My NOA2 was 10/1 and I've been calling NVC since and each time I called, NVC said they don't have my file yet. I'm reading the post in here and alot of people with NOA2 around my date and after has received their case number from NVC. Please let me know where to go to find out the shipped date.

I was notified by the USCIS when the file shipped, which was 10 days after NOA2. I got a text, email, and a letter in the mail. When I called the NVC, they kept telling me 25 business days but it didn't take that long at all. The case was actually received by the consulate 1 month and 1 day after NOA2. Hope that helps!

  10. Seriously, just keep calling. NOA2 9/15 and shiiped to NVC on 9/25. On Monday they told me I had to wait 25 business days, but actually my case number was assigned the next day and the case was shipped to the consulate today.

When you call you just get the same generic answers as we got calling the service center. It'll be there much sooner than 25 business days :-)

  11. Congratulations on the recent approvals!!! This is getting really exciting!

What has everyone's experience been getting the petition to the NVC? It took 10 days for ours to be shipped, and has still not arrived almost 2 weeks later. Is this normal? Everytime I call they tell me to expect a month but I find it impossible to believe that it takes a month to get from Texas to NH. Is it going by horse and buggy?

  12. I kinda want to punch something everytime some asks me if our visa is "like that show on TLC"

That being said I saw the commerical during a Say Yes to the Dress Marathon and they show a clip of a couple hugging at the airport. I'm in the midst of planning a wedding and waiting on my fiance's interview and that scene definitely brought tears to my eyes :)

  13. Hi everyone! I wanted to ask you when it would be better to contact a senator. Do you think we have to wait 6 months or would it be fine to contact after 5 months?

You can contact them after 5. They can't speed up the process but you might get some information that will give you a better idea when you might receive an answer.

I did this and my fiance really wished I hadn't because all it did was give me more to worry about but it really didn't change anything.

  14. How many people are still waiting for their noa2? I'm just wondering when I should start to get worried..

I wouldn't start worrying until after it's been 6 months

We're still waiting with a NOA1 of March 21. I was able to find out from a Tier 2 officer our case was picked up by an officer on August 18. I found out from our congressman's office that it took a trip for "security checks" and was on its way back a week ago.

As my fiancé wisely pointed out, all of these efforts got information but none if them actually resulted in speeding up the process.

After 6 months, it's worth worrying and taking steps to move things along because the steps will be more effective.

  15. I'm finding the direction of this thread somewhat entertaining.

Before I found VJ, I followed the message boards at theknot.com. There are about 67 pages of arguing about whether it is socially acceptable to have a "wedding" after you are legally "married". They call it a "Pretty Princess Day" (PPD for short)- this is actually where my user name came from (ie The Princess Bride)

Immigration doesn't really care what you do, just as long as you are legally married within 90 days. If it's really important to you to have a wedding party later on to celebrate with family- by all means go for it! Heavens knows we all deserve to celebrate our love after all this! (And be sure to take plenty of pictures for future evidence of a continuing marriage ;) )

Let's just please leaving the arguing over the sublties of the words "marriage" and "wedding" to theknot.com... We have bigger issues :clock::unsure:
