  1. I don't have the DS-3025. I got it sealed and brought to the Embassy when I had my visa interview. After visa was granted I received a sealed envelope with all the documents, which were later taken by DHS in the airport. So I never had in my hands the DS3025, it probably was in that package. At the airport they said that they will forward it to the local USCIS.

Anyway, I had my vaccination record with me, from my home country. I translated it and sent to the USCIS when applied. Did not get any RFE, so I guess everything is ok.

In instructions to the form I693 it is said that I don't need a new exam, since my is still valid....

  2. Hi guys! I have a quick question.

I have my Green Card Interview in 2 weeks. I came to US on a K1 fiancee visa. In the USCIS notice regarding the interview, they ask me to bring form I-693 (medical examination).

I think it does not apply to my case, I had my med exam less than a year ago. I did not do it when I applied for AOS for the same reason, I just sent my vaccination record, and did not get any REF.

I read the instructions to the form and as far as I understand I don't need to do med exam http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-693instr.pdf

Can someone share there experience in the same situation?

    Thanks very much!

  3. Hi guys!

Got this online notice from USCIS:

As of April 20, 2015, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number xxxxxxxxxxxxx, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.

How soon after that they actually schedule the interview? 3 weeks passed since then (((((

    Thanks for help.

  4. Those are not fraud but using them in the way you mentioned sounded fraudulent.

A student visa is a non-immigrant visa - the person is supposed to return home at the end of their studies.

If their sole purpose for acquiring the student visa was to eventually apply for asylum and stay in the US, then this is considered fraud.

Just warning you from my limited knowledge.

I never suggested anything fraudulent. What's wrong with you guys today.

Coming on student visa and study here is as right as anything else. After he finishes his studies he gets OPT, that allows him to stay legally in US another year in order to find a job here. If he gets lucky, his employer can petition him for H1B work visa and so on.

Don't be so limited in thinking and do more research on the topic.

I never implied or said to get a student visa with purpose of then getting asylum or do anything fraudulent.

There are many different ways to get legal to US and stay legal here.

That's why I suggested him to consult a lawyer, because those guys know much more then all of us here do, and know legal ways to help him to get his brother to US.

  5. Because the Op has no posted anything suggesting the beneficiary has a cause to request asylum, and claiming falsey they are would be immigration fraud. Now let's get back to constructive advice, please.

We don't know the whole story. I did not suggest him to claim it falsely.... never. This said, I never suggested him to do immigration fraud.

If this kind of decision applies to his brother situation he can use it. Maybe he just doesn't know about this kind of opportunity.

  6. Hey guys! Thank you all for helping me figure this out!

I applied today for my SSN, it all worked out, though they will issue me a SSN under my maiden name, not under my married name, because their data base does not contain any record on me (passport, visa) with my new name. So once I get my GC or EAD, I can come back and change my name :)

    Review:

I went to the office in Daly City, CA. Had to wait 1h and a half before my number was announced....did not expect to wait that long :D. The lady was very nice and helpful. She tried to register me under my new name, but system did not let her do so, she tried couple times and than told me that she can try do this under my maiden name, and it worked. So, everything went smooth. :luv:

Tomorrow plan to file for AOS, AP & EAD. Fingers crossed. Wish me luck :goofy:

  7. HI!

I need some help with filling out the Advance Parole form, if someone knows the answers, please share your experience:

    1. Part 3. Processing Information: date of intended departure and expected length of trip - i have no clue when I will go back to my home country, i wanna have AP just in case. What should I put in?

    2. Part 4. Information about your proposed travel - purpose of trip, list the countries you intend to visit. Ok....this one is a bit easier.....purpose to visit my family or maybe even make our religious wedding but not sure yet. List of countries, probably only my home country. But what if we decide to go somewhere else while being there? WIll they make me problems at POE if i did not list those countries when I filed for AP?

    3. Part 7 - on a separate sheet of paper, explain how you qualify for AP doc...bla bla bla.... REALLY? Did anyone fill this out?

Looking forward for your replies. Thanks!

  8. Hi guys!

I have a question regarding completing application for SSN, question 5 CITEZENSHIP and it's possible answers:

    - US citizen

    - Legal Alien allowed to work

    - Legal Alien not allowed to work

    - Other

Which of the above applies for K1 filers? Didn't find any proper answer in instruction. Please help!

  9. Yes you can apply for your SSN. You only need to wait until you have your EAD if your I-94 is already expired or there is 2 weeks or less remaining until it expires.

Be sure to apply in VISA name.

Not true. You can apply for the SSN before or after marriage. You need to apply before the I-94 expires though.

I am bit confused now. My I-94 expires in april. I am only preparing to apply for AOS, AP and EAD (so don't have an EAD yet) - can I apply for SSN since my I-94 is still valid?

  10. I can tell you my experience....

    I too did a K1 Visa

My husband arrived in the US on 9-30-13

We got legally married on 10-26-13

It took me a while to file the AOS stuff, I'll be honest...We sent it in on 12-30-13

He got his Green Card in the mail on 4-1-14.

He never had to do an interview or anything like that. He just went in and did his biometrics when the appointment was scheduled and that was it! So really, it only took 3 months which was an awesome surprise because the website says that the average wait time is 6-9 months. I think it was quicker because we did the K1 Visa and as you know, immigration is already privy to the beneficiary's information and situation. I think it takes 6-9 months if the person were to be already here in the US on like a visitor visa or a student visa and then they happened to get married to someone, THEN I think that is when it takes forever, because immigration wants you to prove the legitimacy of your relationship. With a K1 Visa, you've already done that. So I think your husband should have it in no time. Good luck!

    Thank you for sharing!

  11. No, the interview is always required AFAIK. I think the interview can be quite short if there isn't a cause for concern -- and it is likely that the decision is already made before the interview for a good percentage of the cases. I think her comment probably meant that you can show your pages of communication history, pictures, etc if required at the interview. Adica, she didn't want to take your great big pile of docs that they didn't really have an interest in reading -- I'd take that as a good sign.

Thnx a lot for you reply :)

  12. I've heard nothing but good things about the Chisinau consulate. We haven't gotten to the interview yet, but they have been great to work with on things like CRBA, extra passport pages, etc.

Thanks for your review. When I came to drop off my docs, lady told smth like: If an interview will be needed you will show the rest of the docs you prepared....

Is there any chance they can decide on a case without an interview?
