  1. My wife got Visa to migrate to the US and the US Consulate told her that she should make the green card fee payment after she receives the Visa and before she departs from the United States. I am making the fee payment on her behalf. However, in the Case ID field (which is the same thing as the NVC receipt number and added 01 in the end), the numbers limitation is only upto 0. For example, if her NVC receipt number is ABC2014000111, then her case ID number is ABC201400011101. However on the ELIS website (where you make the fees), you can only enter upto ABC20140001110 and not the last digit.

Has anyone else had this issue? What should be done?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Bhargav Sura

  2. My wife's interview is scheduled next month after about 13 months of petitioning for her. The NVC screwed up her married name. Her middle married name is not what it should be on the application. I called NVC and requested them to change the name in September. They told me to either send them a letter and wait for about 60 days for the letter to be reviewed or send them an email which is usually quicker.

So I did that in September. However, I received the interview date yesterday and I found that the middle name on her Interview letter is not the same as what it should be. I called NVC again and they said that it should not matter because she will get the same name on her visa as it is on her passport. But I am just wondering if this doesn't create any issues or anything?

    What should I do?

Will this create an issue for her Medical - what if the physician asks her why do the names not match? This is a mistake by NVC so why should we have to go through anything, if anything.

  3. Thanks again.

I called NVC regarding the required documents for the DS 260 form - they mentioned Copies of passport, Original Birth Certificate, and Original Marriage Certificate. I asked them specifically regarding the Police Clearance certificate (PCC) two different times and on both the occasions, they mentioned it is not needed.

I, however, have seen and have come across other websites, including VJ, about police clearance being a part of the DS260 packet. Can someone please clarify if this is an Absolute must or a just a "good thing" to send a PCC?

Is a cover sheet required? Where can I find the barcoded cover sheet (if there is one)?

Also regarding the DS260 form, my immigration visa fees says it has been paid on the ceac.state.gov website, but there is no link available to start the DS 260 form. Is this normal? What is going on? Can someone please help and chime in?
