  1. That is what is called fast ,, another update in our case..

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On November 3, 2015, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number MSC159143XXX to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by December 3, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Congrats! Crazy fast! I am in disbelief after how painful the K-1 process was. My wife's green card arrived today.

  2. So here's how it worked for us:

When we saw that the case status was "Ready" - meaning the embassy has received it from NVC, my wife (fiancée at the time) emailed immigrantcaracas2@state.gov to request an interview.

They emailed her back with a list of all the required documentation, and told her to respond when she had collected the required documents and was ready for her interview.

So she got everything ready other than the Apostille for the birth certificate, and emailed asking for an interview and explained the situation with Apostille. The embassy responded with a date several weeks out and told her the Apostille wasn't needed. No lawyers involved.

I can forward you the list of requirements that the embassy sent to my wife if you're interested. This was all several months ago so things may have changed - definitely verify everything with the embassy via email before the actual interview!

  3. When the time comes, I recommend the beneficiary email the embassy and explain the situation.

My wife ran into this same problem, so she emailed the embassy and they told her that the Apostille was not required for her birth certificate. She did have SAREN do something to validate her birth certificate but I'm not sure if even this was required.

    Best of luck!

  4. Is tax return enough for proof of income. ( it mentions tax return on I 130 if self employed)

I am trying to avoid the letter from employer.

This might be different depending on the embassy. The Caracas embassy specifically requests the letter.

"Affidavit of Support, with a job letter stating how long he/she has had his/her job and how much money he/she makes annually (W-2 forms and 1040)."

  5. Hi all,

My fiancé is in the process of filing for my K1 Visa and we just want to be sure of the following:

1: I read on a forum here that you do not need to send proof of ongoing relationship? Such as boarding passes, pictures? Is this true?

2: If we are to send these evidences, do we send the original of say, boarding passes? Or will a photocopy of boarding passes, hotel bookings etc suffice? AND - we have currently booked and locked in our venue for our wedding in Austin. Will a copy of this booking or any other bookings made for our wedding day be good to provide to show the intent of marriage etc?

3: Also - does anyone know the average length of time it takes to get approved?

4: It is only the petitioner (my fiancé) that sends a notarised copy of his birth certificate for this initial application I-129F right?

At the USCIS step you're just proving that you actually met in person in the past 2 years. I sent photocopies of my boarding pass, photocopies of entry & exit passport stamps, and 3 photos of my fiancée and I together in her country. Our petition was approved without an RFE.

When you get to the interview at the embassy you will need to provide evidence of an ongoing relationship between when the i-129f was filed and the date of the interview.

You can take a look at Igor's list for TSC to get an idea of current processing times.

  6. hello everyone, I need your help. Me and my fiance are going through some problems to get his police certificates...

I am peruvian and american, my fiance is colombian. During our 8 years of ongoing relationship we lived together in my home country (Peru) for about 2 years and 11 months together. Now during this time, his status in Peru was asi f he was a tourist. As you know when you are more than 6 months in another country, any extra day you pay a fee for staying. Well my fiance did paid all the extra fees for staying overtime. Since he needs police certificates of every place he has lived more than 6 months we are suppose to get his police certificate of those 2 years and 11 months he was in Peru. But now that we want to do them, the consulate of peru in Colombia just told him he can not get a police certificate because he was a TOURIST.

Now, we dont know what to do, we know he is supposed to have police certificates of everywhere he has been over 6 months. Is this something that may cause a rejection during the interview?

Please help us, or re direct us to a thread where we can get help. Thanks to everyone!

Have you tried asking around the South America regional forum? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

  7. So sorry to hear this - maybe that's why it's been so difficult for you to get an appointment. Why not contact your representative here and see if they can advise you or help you?

My fiancée was able to talk to someone via the Skype ustraveldocs contact. They said there was an issue with the website not accepting K-1 appointments. They escalated the issue to the embassy and we're supposed to hear back in a day or two. The embassy has posted on their twitter account "Estamos trabajando de forma normal." - we are working normally. Keeping my fingers crossed...

  8. Today the president of Venezuela told the US Embassy it has two weeks to reduce its staff to 17 diplomats... Right now they have around 100.

Is 17 even enough to keep the embassy open? I'm worried we're going to have to wait months for an interview date, or get transferred to another embassy (Bogotá?)

I have emailed the embassy but have not yet received a response.

The president of Venezuela also said US citizens will now need to get tourist visas, so being there for the interview might not be possible.

...and just as things finally seemed to be moving along

  9. I'm losing it... We are both panicking. Still no appointments available for K-1 interviews, and now this today:

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/28/americas/venezuela-us-pilot/

"Speaking at an "anti-imperialist" rally in the capital, Maduro said visas would now be required for all U.S. visitors and that the U.S. Embassy in Caracas would now need foreign ministry approval for any meetings. The Embassy, which he said had more than 100 staff, is to be reduced to a number closer to the 17 Venezuelan diplomats based in Washington."

  10. Is there a chance she can call to the embassy to ask for more information? it is kinda frustrating... best luck now you are just one step away! :D

Thanks! Best of luck to you as well!

She emailed the embassy (there's no phone number to call) and she got some weird generic email to contact USCIS... From searching around this forum it sounds like she just has to wait and keep trying. She still needs her medical as well, but the clinics won't let her make an appointment until she has an interview date.

  11. where do you guys check the status of the k1 in NVC? Because in uscis it doesnt tell me anything new. Actually yesterday I received an email from my fiance( beneficiary) embassy saying they have received the k1 papers. I was not noticed by nvc if they received, accepted or even if they sent them.
