  1. I'm also in the same situation but NVC says Embassy approved the request but told them to complete the case before sending it to them.

I ask the question; then, what's the point of expediting ? if it's still gonna take NVC the 60days to get Case Completed ?

I am in the same boat, I called NVC and the lady said I must wait for CC to expedite, but what is the purpose of expedite then? Have you recived any other information, like an email stating your expedite was granted?

  2. My scan date is Dec4. Im currently on hold waiting for next available rep. Been 35mins on hold now.

any new? my scan date is Dec 4 too.. and still no cc.. called early this morning, waited 45 mins. and got a really rude rep. needless to say he was no help (said i needed to wait. although today is 60 + days) .. asked for a supervisor and didn´t connect me said they were all in a meeting.

  3. Hey everybody,

Our interview is in Rio on Friday. We are pretty much on edge, can't wait to finish this!! Anyways, any and all advice is wonderful!! Okay, so just a question in regards to what we're bringing. We have already looked over the US Brazilian embassy website a million times and the interview guides on here. That said, just want to make sure. The embassy mentions brining birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. with a simple copy. From the research we've seen, guessing that is just a normal copy? Does it help to have them certified? We're bringing with police certificates that we're printing online (Embassy website says they accept), so our guess is just normal copies? We have everything else, bringing it all!!

    Anways,

    Thanks so much!!

    Best of luck to all!!

    JTJ

Good Luck, hope you all the best.!

After your interveiw post a review about how it went, I think my interview will be next month.

  4. I filed I-130 form in July 2014 for my wife living in Brazil. Petition was approved in November. Instruction email arrived Jan 20. Elected an Agent for the case (me) and payed the AOF fee. AOF Documents & Financial Evidence field was marked "N/A". I assume this mean "not applicable" and that I don't need to send one. I had included my AOF with the I-130 petition.

Next step on the Immigration Visa Summary page was the IV fee, which was highlighted red. I click on it and am taken back to the Sign In page. Hmm. Sign in, go to pay it again and the same thing happens. I see that the IV Application and Civil Documents fields are also marked "N/A".

Does this mean that my case is in process and that I need to do nothing more but wait for them to schedule the interview? I received no message,, email or notice that this is the case.

Thanks in advance for any help I can get. The process has been moving fairly well so far and I don't want to delay it further.

    Dan

    Hey dan,

You must send in both AOS and IV documents. (you may send them together) In order to get the IV invoice you must fill out DS-261 - choice of agent (which you did..) okay, so now NVC will review your ds-261 (it normally takes 30 days, so mean while get your document packages together and send them asap)

*the doc. section will stay N/A even after you send your documents to nvc.

    Check out this link.. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

and this one.. http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/pk%203%20supplements/RDJ%20-%20Rio%20De%20Janeiro.pdf(this will be needed for IV civil doc. packet)

P.S. you no longer need to send in original civil docs (now you take them to the interiew) ., but i sent in ´copia autenticada´ just to play it safe..

    hope this helped a little

  5. Well, me and my wife have been living in Brazil for the past 5 years. On all the guides we read about the IR1/CR1 visas, it always talks about the us citizen filing this and that while being in the US. Is it a requirement? My wife (the US citizen) has a house of her own in the US, and she can move back to it at any time. Apparently we'll have to file everything through mail. The consulate here in brazil doesn't let you file for visas at the consulate anymore, except in specific cases.

I was wondering if we try to talk to them about our case, like how we're already 5 years together and she's pregnant atm so it would be terrible if she had to go back to the US alone, or if such services are reserved to cases worse then ours.

Also, about the interview, can she be there as well or do I have to go alone?

Ty so much in advance ;)

I am the US citizen and i have been living in Brazil or sometime now, I filed I-130 from here to the Chicago Lockbox and my case took less than a month at USCIS (with no RFE´s).

Your wife may go to the interview with you, it doesnt mean they will ask her any questions, but they can.. (I heard they encourage couples to go together. I will go with my husband to his interview.)

  6. My son's fiancée has her medical 9th February but said that the doctor's office is on the other side of Rio than the Embassy! Is this true and any ideas how expensive it would be to take a taxi between the two?

    Thank you.

yes, its true.. I have no idea how much a taxi would be.. There is public bus if she doesnt mind, it would be cheaper but definitely more time consuming..
