  1. Maybe the wording that USCIS uses is the way around actually having the EAD in hand? It does say that you must file form I-765, but it doesn't say that you must be approved and have it in hand.

Well, actually when you do get your approval notice, it DOES say that the notice itself isn't a work authorization and without the card, technically on hand, you aren't eligible to work.

  2. They should already have all that kind of information regarding your dad from your DS-160.... I would call the Embassy letting them know that the clock is ticking and you are very concerned about your status since you have already provided them with the information needed. Don't just wait for them. It happened to me too, but it was on an immigrant visa... The embassy kinda forgot what they were doing and I ended up spending more time in my home country after the interview than needed. Thus, I would definitely advise you to get in touch with them.

  3. This happened to me as well. My brother was supposed to walk me down the aisle and he applied twice and both times he had more than enough evidence in his hands, but he was discriminated for being a 22 year old male with no wife, kids, and a house under his name ( even though he has a job). I even called the National Visa Center and the Embassy in DC to make sure he had all the "proof" docs they would like to see and the Embassy in Greece still refused him a visa (We even had a letter from the Congressman representing Colorado). I emailed the Embassy and all I got was "Sorry, he did not qualify" , but they'd never give me a straight up answer as to WHY. So, yeah. Never make plans such as buying tickets because it really depends on how that consular is feeling that day.

  4. Once you receive package 3 or 4? It really depends on the Embassy. The one in Greece for example is the one I went through and they sent me package 3 and I had to mail everything required on package 3 to them and then they called me to schedule an interview date and a couple days later they emailed me package 4. So it really depends on the Embassy.

    Good luck!

  5. 1. You have to mention any middle / high school and college you have attended

    2. There is a box that says "does not apply" I think. If not you can leave it blank

    3. Well WHERE will you be staying? That's a question you will be asked by the consular anyways. If it is at a hotel, write out the address and such.

    4. Well just write your duties

    5. Well, being able to just as much money as you want from your father doesn't look that great because it seems like your ties to your home country aren't as strong. They tend to enjoy seeing "salary" so they don't have to worry about you working under the table while you're in the States or overstaying your visa and immigrating here.

    Good luck to you!

  6. As an F1 student you can work on campus, part time, as a student hourly. The downside to that is that there are NOT too many slots since colleges mostly hire students through financial aid which you do not qualify for. So your best shot is POSSIBLY finding a student hourly slot at your school (ask at the school library and bookstore). As far as your wife is concerned is suggest that she files for an F2. As everyone else has stated, someone has to sponsor her and that would be quite tough.

I worked at the bookstore of my college as an F1 student so I'm talking from experience.

  7. It varies from country to country. In my case (Greece) I had to wait for packet 4, which includes interview letter along with the medical one) to get my medical done. The embassy here calls you in order to schedule your interview date and then they email you packet four. In my case, this was the order/dates of the events.

Mailed required documents of packet 3 via DHL to Embassy: December 1

Embassy called to schedule interview: December 16

    Received Packet 4: December 22

    Medical: January 13

    Penal record: January 13

    Interview : January 27

I'd just wait for a week or two at the most and if you don't hear from them you could just email or call them asking about it :) hope this helps!
