  1. I can totally relate to the feeling of needing a proof of citizenship with me all the time. Therefore I got a US Passport Card when I applied for the passport. It costs $30 only if you are already a US passport holder or you request for it with your new US passport application.

See here for more information: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/information/card.html

Another option is the Enhanced Driver's License if your state offers it.

  2. Hi, Bosco1 and Jimmy,

I've updated the Global Entry profile with my new US passport. No appointment needed. Just visit an enrollment center and indicate that you want to update information with your GOES account (on the sign-in sheet at the center or tell the officer you see). It takes only 3 minutes for the officer to input the US passport information into the system.

The PASS ID (Known Traveler Number) remains the same. You can pay $25 and request a new Global Entry card afterward on the GOES website.

See more information on the official FAQ: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1265/~/updating-passports-or-making-changes-to-your-goes-membership

  3. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I read a couple of other posts on this topic with various outcomes:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/383275-n-400-was-returned/

To avoid any ambiguity with eligibility, I will follow Harpa's recommendation to wait until my 3-year wedding anniversary to file N-400.

Hope everything is going well with your application.

  4. Hi,

I got my green card through employment in August 2010, then married to a US citizen in mid-October 2011. I have been living with my citizen spouse in the same state since we were married and have only been outside the US for short trips (10 days per trip for 7 trips total since 2010).

I am wondering if I could file my N-400 in late July (90 days prior to our 3-year wedding anniversary of mid-October). I read the 90-day early filing provision which states "The spouse of a U.S. citizen filing for naturalization on the basis of his or her marriage may file the naturalization application up to 90 days before the date he or she would first meet the required three-year period of continuous residence. All other requirements for naturalization must be met at the time of filing."

Or do I have to wait until mid-October when we have been married for 3 years to file my N-400?

    Thank you.
