  1. I had oath last week. Now I’m citizen.

At interview IO didn't ask for anything. So, I thought they might checked them self or yellow letter was mistake.

I gathered following documents for my interview (in case IO ask for anything).

    1. IRS Tax: I went to local IRS office. Officer gave me Account Transcripts for all tax years since I came to USA. Account balance is zero in all transcripts, means I don't own any taxes to the IRS.

    2. State Tax: I contact State revenue office. They gave me Tax clearance letter, means I don't own any taxes to the state.

    3. Voter registration: I contact local County Clark Election commission office and previous County/state election commission office. They didn't find my record. So, they all gave me letter stating no record found. Means I was never registered for Voting. In my case I lived in more than one state since I came to USA.

I was so worried, I went little extreme and ordered copy of my original DL application from all DMV and my mortgage application. To make sure I didn't do any mistake. This might not need.

    Best of luck for interview....

  2. Thanks and congratulations to you too! Could you be more specific with your timeline? Your interview was on the 22nd so when was your case updated? And when did you receive the letter? Sorry...now that the interview is over I'm getting anxious about the oath! LOL!

My case was updated 09/30 and I have interview on 10/14. I hope this will help you.

  3. Hi everyone!

I had my interview today and passed! I got the letter saying that it was recommended for approval and that I should expect the oath letter in a couple of weeks. The IO was very nice and the whole experience was very pleasant. I was super nervous and had a ton of paperwork (because I spent a long time abroad due to my husband's job) but I only had to give him my my children's birth certificates and he made a copy of my passport. Hope to hear about the oath soon.

Carly and Cheryl, congratulations to you! Where was your oath? There were tons of people for oath there at the USCIS office this afternoon.

Sam3323, have you heard anything about your oath? I had the exact same questions as you.

Congratulation Alix, I have oath schedule for next week. My case was updated more than week after my interview. Usually it's update within week and you will receive letter 2-3 days after case status updated.

  4. Hi Sam, my case status was updated on the 24th and received oath letter on the 26th. Hope you will also receive yours for the October 7th oath ceremony.

    Thank you Cheryl,

I called USCIS today. It was not helpful said wait for 90 days. I was reading couple of cases online peoples cases was stuck for more than 5 - 6 month after interview. I hope that'll not happen to my case.

Thanks again. Best of Luck for your Oath...

  5. Hi Sam, my case status was updated on the 24th and received oath letter on the 26th. Hope you will also receive yours for the October 7th oath ceremony.

I read some where that we can request or ask IO to schedule in next oath ceremony. In case for example foreign trip need to carried out or oath with other family member. Did you guys requested any? I didn't. At end of interview IO told me that normally oath will be within 6 weeks.

  6. Hey, just to keep you updated my oath is on 7th October so exactly two weeks after my interview.

Hi carly , When did you receive letter for oath? Is you case status updated online? When?

I gave interview last Monday and passed... Still my status not updated online nor receive any letter.

My oath ceremony is on October 7 at 1 PM.

Hi Cheryl, When did you receive letter for oath? Is you case status updated online? When?

I gave interview last Monday and passed... Still my status not updated online nor receive any letter.

  7. Hi All, I had interview last week and I passed. I was really nervous. So, I arrived there more than 2 hrs earlier than appointment time. IO called my number around 45 mins earlier than appointment time. She was very nice and professional. She asked me about my passport, GC and DL. She started Civics and English test. I passed both. Then she went through my application Name, name change, address, employer, prior marriages, children, trip out side US and all Yes/No questions. She particular ask me what my wife does and where she works. All went very smooth. She ask me to sign on my photos and in application. Then she hand me letter ... Congratulation recommend for approval. I think interview was finished within 20 mins. It was very smooth interview.

    Civics questions:

    1. commander chief of us military

    2. What are the two major political parties in the United States?

    3. What is the political party of the President now?

    4. There were 13 original states. Name three.

    5. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

    6. Name one state that borders Mexico.

Thanks all for helping on the forum.

  8. Hi All,

No interview date yet. We tried to fill out some type of online inquiry (available when you look at case status) and it would not let us because the case was within normal processing times.

We have to go back and look at our dates and how long other people have been waiting - maybe its our location?

for Chicago, I sent file in Mid May. And I have interview next week.

  9. Until I read your post I thought I was the only person in the world who got this. My yellow letter is identical. It also asks for DL or State ID.

Bad news is that it's hard to figure out what triggered this part with the voter's card. After the initial surprise I started digging through old documents to double check every little piece of paper. I went to our local elections office and got a confirmation that I was not registered and they had no records of me whatsoever. I also wrote an email to the DMV and they confirmed that there was no mistake there either. I received the actual interview letter (white color) and it asked for a completly different set of documents (passport, DL, LPR card). Meanwhile I went so far as to request from banks copies of old mortgage applications to ensure that I did not accidentally check anything wrong there. And I haven't.

The most idiotic thing (shall we call it coincidence or I don't know what to call it) is that the same day when I got the interview letter, I received jury duty summons.....crazy, right? So I promptly went online to the court house's website and submitted a request to get disqualified. I specified that I'm not a citizen as a reason for the disqualification. Within an hour a person wrote me back an email that I was disqualified and there was no need to appear. I used that as an opportunity to ask how this even happened and I got an answer that they assembled their records from the DMV and voter's registration records. Anyways I saved and printed all this communication, got the letter from election department certified, actually got so nuts that I went there twice to check again, and checked it online perhaps 10 times :)

My interview is a month from now. I'll let you know how it goes in case you don't have your interview earlier.

Hi Sandi123, Did you had interview, how it went? I got same yellow letter stating to bring My Voter Registration card (I never registered to vote). I have interview next week.

We called USCIS again and spoke to an "officer". She claimed that at the interview they will have the original application where my wife indicated she was never arrested, detained... and that she never registered to vote or voted. We'll still print out the voter look up to show her name is not found but we're not so worried about it right now. We were definitely a bit surprised when we first got the letter. She went for her fingerprints and photo already but she still has not received an interview date. I'll try to remember update here with what transpires when she does go.

Hi rob11715, how was yours' wife interview went? I have interview next week.

  10. Oh my God! What I should do?

Here is my situation I came in 2008 by visa fiancé, and then we got married in April of 2008, so I got my green card, I have with him 2 girls now, so I applied 2 days ago for my citizenship.

And I said YES to question about owe overdue tax to federal...

About my husband has this tax issue from 1999 to 2005 but he's paying monthly and we have agreement with IRS office.

So now please tell me what I should do for my N-400? Should I whrite a explanation letter to uscis? Or what?

    Thank you so much

I got my yellow letter asking me: If you owe taxes to IRS, state or local, then bring repayment agreement (sign with IRS) and payment history to the interview.

I don't owe any taxes to IRS. I paid remaining taxes with my Tax return (taxes after withholding from my paycheck), but any taxes paid with tax return is not show in Tax return transcript (it show as I owe taxes to IRS), These transactions show in account transcript. So, I'm going to take Account Transcript for past 3 year to the interview.

I suggest you to order account transcripts from IRS website and bring to interview. And also your husbands Bank statement that show, he is paying over due taxes to IRS. And also any agreement he has with IRS. It's good idea to bring as many proof as possible in interview.

USCIS take over due taxes seriously than any other issue.

  11. @rob11715, Did your wife had interview? Any update?

I'm schedule for interview. I don't know interview date yet still waiting for interview letter.

My wife applied for citizenship and received this letter today.

The Incorrect part states: "You indicated on your application that you have been arrested, cited or detained"... and goes on to say to bring all documentation. She's never been "arrested, cited or detained" and answered No to these questions on the form.

The Odd part says: "Please bring your voter's registration card and provide documentation obtained from the local election authority documenting your voting history." How can she vote if she's not a citizen??? Who knows, maybe they would be incompetent enough to register her but she did not try to register.

We called USCIS and spoke to a customer service rep but she really wasn't that helpful. She just said it was probably a mistake and tell that at the interview. We think the incorrect information should be corrected before hand. As far as the voter's registration we are just confused.

Any advice? Has anyone else received such a letter?

  12. Rob11715, Did you file application with New N-400 form (where all information record in the bar-code bottom of each page)? I filed with new N-400 form, it's mandatory to use if file after May 15.

I read so-many places that the new application N-400 form "page information" saved in bar-code at bottom of each page. And digital application information save in the USCIS system by only scanning barcode.

I'm thinking even we answer "No" to relevant questions, but when page scan and system automatically enter information "Yes" by mistake. May be wrong bar-code generated based on different combination of information from same page.

I got two request in yellow letter: Voter registration card and any IRS/Local Taxes overdue. Questions related to both "RFE" are on same page of N-400....

I read somany cases Voter registration and N-400. Most of cases they knew they I applied for Voter registration or they found out in interview. I didn't see any case where they send Yellow letter, apart from your and my case...

  13. My wife applied for citizenship and received this letter today.

Any update? I also filed from Chicago. I got same king of letter for voter card and history.

  14. I got yellow letter last week on my n-400 case from USCIS.

I have to bring following documents in my interview.

    * Please bring your voter's registration card and letter regarding voting history from local election authority office

    * if you have Federal, state or local Taxes overdue, bring documents

    * Bring state ID

    * Bring all passport and travel documents issued by any government

I never applied for Voter registration. I check state website to voter registration status and also call County clerk office of all counties where I lived in Illinois and Texas. None of them find any data, so I never register for voter. Is this mistake by USCIS? Do I need to go some office and bring any document in interview? I'm going local County clerk office to get letter, Do I have to go Texas too?

For Taxes I got account transcripts from IRS stat, I don't own Taxes to IRS. Also got from my state tax office.

I'm more worry about Voter registration card. I never registered and no record found in election authority office in both states. What you suggest? Do you want me to contact Attorney before interview or go to interview with letter local county clerk office and screenshot showing no record found regarding voter registration?

I check my application, didn't answer YES to relevant questions.

    Please help me.

    Thanks
