  1. Hi all,

I have a specific questions concerning reentry to the US as follows:

My wife lef to visit her parents in Ukraine with our son in July. I fly over ine a week, stay with them, and we all return the next week.

    Here's the issue:

She left using her old Ukraine passport with a temporaty visa extension sticker/stamp on it.

Her permanent residency card arrived while she is away. I called and told her.

She decided to renew her Ukraine passport while there and succeeded in the renewal.

the temporary visa extension stamp/sticker is transferred to her new card.

However, the stamp showing her exit date from the USA remains on her old passport. She no longer posseses her old passsport.

I will bring her permamnent residence card to her in Ukraine.

Is her reentry into the USA a problem without the exit stamp on her new Ukraine passport?

  2. If I had my druthers I would live in Portland, OR.

For all the reasons mentioned above - surrounded by natural beauty, relatively cheap cost of living, temperate weather, decent public transport, reasonable amount of nightlife and shopping and an hour from the ocean.

Though it rains a lot -- it's not perfect.

Unforunately, my job as it is at the moment limits me to LA and maybe NYC.

I live near Portland, OR in Vancouver, WA. Yes beautiful nature, mild winters, and perfect summers. So now the reality check:

Due to the nature quality of the city and state many fruits and nuts move here from LA, SF and other areas.

The Willamette River is the sewer of the city of Portland. The city dumps millions upon millions of gallons of raw sewage into the river every year. The fact of this environmental autrocity is actually very much under reported by the liberal Oregonain newspaper. Areas of the city stinks terribly on the many days/weeks/months of the sewage overflow.

The liberal population in the most liberal city in the country perfers to protest well planned (no impact to water life or surrounding environments) tree cutting than pay to clean up its own affluent. Their affluent kills millions of fish on the protected species list.

A general attitude of entitlement and expecting the federal government to remedy the problems rather than local expenditure.

The city spends money on fountains and beautification rather than sewage treatment.

The city schools are vastly underfunded due to the politics of the large numbers of childless couples living in Portland.

If the water doesnt stink the corrupt liberal politics prove intensely odorous.

I live in Vancouver, not as pretty but practical attitudes and responsiblity here.

  3. A copy of the entire divorce decree?

As far as I know, copies of all divorce decrees that you and your fiance have (not just the latest one).

Divorced 1x. So one copy I guess.

Wait. I just re-read the instructions and they don't say "copies", they say 'proof'. So it's best to check with the embassy whether to send them a copy of an original decree. Better be on the safe side, right?

Agree. I call the embassy tonight.

  4. Ok,

I earn 3 to 4 times the poverty limit. My Ukranian Fiancee holds an original and 2 copies of my bi weekly paycheck itemizations showing year to date pay, starting date of employment (1997), deductions (savings...), and biweekly pay. She also holds copies of 3 years of tax returns.

Does she need the I-134 in addition to the above for the interview?

    The embassy states:

"Petitioners may submit a notarized Affidavit of Support form I-134 if they wish."

    at

    http://kiev.usembassy.gov/visa_K1K2_eng.html.

    Is the I-134 a requirement?

Where do I find the official I-134 form?

Does she need a copy of my divorce decree?

    Please advise.

  5. Received 2 e-mails this morning (03 Jul 06) saying the RFE was mailed on 23 June 06. Are they staggering the mailings to not be "flooded" by responses? I believe this is the IMBRA RFE. Hopefully, we'll know in a few days.

Me too. I think this is EXACTLY the case - stagger to avoid being bombarded - but they told everyone they were mailed on June 23 to get us off their backs.

ugh..., agree with what u r saying Kitkat, they just want to get us off their back. .. I am the same here, got email notices but have not seeing the RFE .. Hopefully all of us will be able to received it soon and wish that our petitions will not go to the end of the pile (I know that CSC might process our file based on the NOA1 date, but who can believe that is what they will do .. :( ..)

Situation identical for us. I guess USCIS requires us to send the IMBRA form  .

  6. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for posting in this thread. My fiance and I are about 11 years apart (I am 34 she is 23), so I was really interested to read people's experiences. I think I will not worry about this issue anymore! :D

    qiao,

I agree, my fiancee and I feel more comfortable on the age diff now too ^_^ . If only this IMBRA becomes clearer :bonk:.
