  1. My interview experience

    Venue : Mumbai Consulate, India

    Date/Time : 19 Aug 2014, 09:30 a.m.

Administrative staff asked for DS 260 confirmation page stamped by OFC (fingerprinting), PCC, Medical reports, Birth certificate photocopy and Marriage certificate photocopy, 2 US passport size photos and interview letter.

All the documents were re-verified by another Indian officer. He already had my file containing all papers sent from application of I-130 till the end. He returned my original birth and marriage certificates and provided a pamphlet for protection against Domestic violence and abuse for immigrant folks and suggested to read it while waiting for interview.

Finally after 1.5 hours of waiting, the immigration visa interview officer called me. She asked me to read a paper aloud declaring that all info I have submitted so far is true to my knowledge. Below are the list of questions she asked :

    - Who is calling you to USA?

    - Was it love marriage / arrange marriage?

    - How did you know each other?

    - Where your parents happy with the relationship?

    - What does your husband do in USA?

    - What do you work as in India?

    - I see that you have traveled to USA on tourist visa, did you like it?

    - Did you go through the pamphlet on act against domestic violence?

    - Can you please give me an idea of what did you understand based on the pamphlet details?

she just explained that many people are afraid to raise voice against any kind of ill treatment they get from the petitioner, assuming that their

green card might be taken back. However, that is not the case. They have many provisions in such situation where you green card would hold good and government will help them to come out of such situations.

She also explained about payment of 165$ post getting visa in hand and before reaching USA.

Also, my tourist visa got cancelled since GC issued :). The interview lasted for about 5-7 mins and she did not ask for any documents at all,

    absolutely none...!!!

Yes finally came those golden words "Your green card is approved, you will shortly receive a mail/sms from our end once the stamping is done to collect your passport. All the best and congratulations..!!"

I wish each of one you and your spouses all the very best for this journey. Yes, it has been a very long and frustrating journey indeed, but it will

be surely worthy for your special one. God bless you and all the very best. I would thank this forum for all the support and suggestions provided by

    everyone.

Congratulations!!!! What an amazing moment it will be..I can totally understand...

Let us know, when you receive the passport back with visa stamped on it :-)

  2. Finally my husband's interview is completed and visa issued at the mumbai consulate...also my parents case (which I though would take another couple months to get a CC) has interview scheduled for 12th September!!!!!! One day my dad's file was in review stage and next day early morning when I called the NVC , it had an interview scheduled...can you guys believe it...if only this had happened with my husband's case as well!! But the journey seems to be coming to an end for me...fingers crossed!! Apartment hunting begins :goofy::dancing:

  5. Hi everybody. I'm confused a little. I received an email on Jun 5th, saying: "The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing

of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner

and attorney (if applicable) will be notified."

Does that mean that my case was complete?

So I'm waiting for the interview to be scheduled, and my lawyer said i must wait at least 8 month to get the interview date. Can it be true?

Yes, your case is completed since 5th June and you have to wait for your interview to get scheduled. I am not sure about the timeline, but if your PD is current it should not require 8 months. It will take 1-2 months generally if the PD is current.

  6. They've been doing it since 7/21 , people in IR category got IL since then

Due to priority thingy you sometimes gotta wait till there are available slots and with Mumbai being a congested city.

Yes, mumbai being very busy consulate delays are there. But it's been more than a month of waiting for me.

Now I need really need an interview date to keep me going...Ohhh god please do something.

  7. How long does it usually take for NVC to review a checklist response after receiving it? Do I have to wait another 30 business days or is it much less? Everything else has been reviewed and accepted. I just need my AOS checklist to get reviewed in order for my NVC case to close! Please if you have gone through these checklists let me know please.

Yes, they say 30 business days but On checklist letter, it's actually written 20 business days. Don't worry you will hear before 30 business days. NVC is quite prompt in responding to checklist response.
