  1. I had been a student in the USA when I met my current husband almost five years ago at college, got married in March and filed for adjustment of status from F1 the first week of April. Got my new EAD literally two days before the OPT based one expired so I didn't get to take the break I was hoping to get from my job, but can't complain as this whole process with the filing and legal fees cost us over $3000 and extra money coming in helped. We had our interview on July 23rd and I was a bit nervous because although we had some evidence of comingling of financial resources like a joint bank account (savings) and we were on the same insurance for health and our cars, we were not both on the apartment lease or on any of the utilities or other bills. Having the lawyer there definitely was a plus as she let us know what to expect and to just take our time and answer only the questions and no more. The USCIS officer was very pleasant and asked my husband the majority of the questions pertaining to my biographical info and my occupation, looked through our photo scrapbook and pulled out a few pages to keep in her file, then asked me basic info about my husbands date of birth and parents names. She did not make any decision on the spot and told us we would receive a decision in 30 days. I felt good after the interview but was just a bit nervous since I felt that our case could have been approved on the spot. On The morning of July 25th my phone lit up with several text message and email alerts from USCIS saying that I was approved! Green card is in production and hopefully on its way soon so my husband and I can finally go on the cruise that we have been planning for our honeymoon! It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off our shoulders and we are grateful to everyone who has shared their experiences and advice on this site!

  2. As the universe would have it, I just received notification that my new EAD was picked up by the USPS for delivery today, tracking number was provided and I should have it in hand within 7 days! Whew! Talk about cutting it close. I advise anyone in a similar situation as I am to apply for AOS as soon as possible even if you have to borrow the filing fee from a few friends/family!

  3. Received email from USCIS inform that my interview will be on July, 28.

There is no news about I765.

By the way, anybody has experiences about GC interview to share? It will help me and others a lot.

    Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Interview July 24th but no word on EAD. Requested expedition today on grounds of financial hardship as my husband is only employed part time right now and we just got a HUGE bill exceeding 2000USD from when I went to the ER last month due to abdominal pain.... Hopefully something positive will happen soon with the I 765 application!

  4. Came to US on F1 visa, graduated from my program may 2013 and received OPT in July which expires June 30th 2014.

Application for AOS along with petition from my USC husband and I-765 received by USCIS April 11th.

    Biometrics done May 14th.

Received appointment notice for I-485 interview to take place July 24th.

According to current processing timeframes for I-765, it's not looking like I will receive new EAD before my current one expires on the 30th.

My boss wants to know if it is possible for me to continue working for the company as an unpaid volunteer after my EAD has expired, until I received new EAD after which I will be back on payroll.

Is this allowable? Will this have any impact on my pending I-485 application? I have to wait until my lawyer is back in her office tomorrow to ask her advice but I'm hoping someone sees this sooner than that!
