My wife entered the US on a K-1 visa. When she obtained her greencard she used her married name but her cambodian passport still listed her maiden name. To reconcile this we sent her passport to the cambodian embassy in washington DC and they added her married name with an embassy stamp to the passport. Now we need to get my wife a new passport. This can only be done in Cambodia. The problem is that when we went to get the new passport we were told that the name on the passport would need to match her Cambodian ID card, which contains her maiden name. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I'm guessing that if her name on her passport and visa do not match we will have trouble entering the US. Once back in the US I can just get her married name added at the cambodian embassy, but that does not seam to be an option in Cambodia.

In addition to having your relatives mail the letter i would have them scan it and email it to you.

Yes my fiance is cambodian. Interview was good. We were one of the last to get called up, so we didnt get out until around 2 pm, but the actual interview was quick and easy. From watching other peoples interviews i got the fealing that they had already decided who they were going to approve from looking at their paperwork. Some interviews were quick and friendly like ours while others were long and confrontational. My fiance was really nervous, but the interviewer kept smiling and telling her to relax and not to worry. He asked my fiance how long she has known me, how she knew she loved me, and how many times i had been to cambodia to visit her. He was impressed that i had come here 5 times. He asked me why i first came to cambodia, how i met my fiance, and what i do for work.

My fiance had her interview yesterday and i can confirm that an ID card was not required. The only time she was asked for her ID card was at the second set od guards that hand out the visitors pass. When she said she didnt have hers they just wrote her name on a piece of paper and kept that. They took my drivers license when they gave me my pass.

My fiances k1 visa interview is schedule for April 28 in Phnom Penh. The instructions we recieved from the embassy direct us to the ustraveldocs website to set up the visa application fee payment. On the website we created a profile and printed a deposit slip for Acleda bank. Do we just need to go to an Acleda bank, make the payment, and bring the reciept to the interview? The ustraveldocs website asks for the reciept number to schedule an interview, but we already have an interview date so I am wondering if this is necessary.
Thanks
Joe

My fiance will be going to Phnom Penh for her medical exam and police certificate. Can she do both in one day? Does she need to come back at a later date to pick up the reports or will she get everything she needs at her initial visit. Also, how much does the police certificate typically cost?
Thanks in advance

It takes around a month for the embassy to receive your information after you receive the NOA2 notification. You can call NVC and ask if they received your case. If so they can give you your case number to use when contacting the embassy. With the current procedure the only thing the embassy needs to schedule your interview after receiving your case from NVC is form DS-160, which you submit online and then email the confirmation page to the embassy. Most of the info on DS-160 is stuff you already included on the I-129F, so it shouldnt take too long to fill out.

I heard back from the embassy in Phnom Penh. They said that as of December you now email the DS-160 confirmation page. Then they will schedule the interview. This seems like a much better procedure.

The packet 3 instructions say not to mail anything to the embassy. I dont know if this is a new procedure to avoid the cambodian mail system. Im going to email the embassy and confirm this is correct.

On the packet 3 instructions I downloaded from the US embassy in Phnom Penh it states that the DS-160 confirmation page should be emailed to the embassy, and that form 169 and I-134 should be brought to the interview along with all of the other requested documentation. Is this a new procedure? Previously I had read on this forum that the DS-160 confirmation page, form 169 and I-134 should all be sent by mail to the embassy.

On the DS-160 online form it asks whether you have documentation of vacinations. I thought that vacinations were performed at the medical exam you get after your interview is scheduled. Should i just mark this as NO and in the explanation field state that documentation will be obtained prior to the interview?

Congratulations! Thats great news. What is AP?

We received our NOA2 notification email 2 days ago. I am in cambodia now visiting my fiance. Can we start filling out the DS-160 now? Are there any other things we should be doing now while we are together?

Way to go! Best wishes on your life together.
B2 for my wife’s sister
in Tourist Visas
Posted
My wife is from Cambodia and is in the US on a green card. After our second child was born her sister applied for a B2 for a 6 month visit. She was denied. It has now been 4 years and she would like to try again. This time she would like to come for 1 month along with her girlfriend. Im wondering if its. worth trying or is it likely she will be denied again. She works food delivery and her girlfriend does internet sales. They live in an apartment.
