Your card probably says "valid for work only with DHS authorization", which the EAD itself is the authorization.
After you adjust status and get your green card you should bring your GC to the SSA office to issue a new social security card.

Hello fellow VJ members. For the first time since I was approved for my AOS last december, I am posting here.
Since I came to the country with my J-1 Visa ( and ended up overstaying until I got the green card) this is the first time I am leaving the country (and coming back afterwards)
Questions are:
-What should I do prior to departing the Country? Do I need a "Sailing Permit" ( http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Departing-Aliens-and-the-Sailing-Permit) showing that I don't owe taxes?
- What is it like when I depart? If I were a visitor I would have to turn in my i-94, do I have to do anything with the GC?- Should I expect any problems with the CBP officer upon returning?
Thank you very much

Interview was yesterday. Received approval e-mail 30 minutes later.
IO only asked biographical info, yes/no questions from i-485, how we met and how was the wedding.
Thanks everyone for this painful but glorious journey.

interview tomorrow. Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'm gonna be writing the succes in my interview. WIsh me luck.
-
Thanks LAstategal. So I should ask the two people who wrote the affidavits to sign and notarize another copy? because naturally, I sent the originals.
-
So, my interview is right around the corner, and I'm confused on what to bring as proof of bona fide relationship
With my original packet I sent the following evidence:
- marriage certificate
- 2 sworn affidavits by friends/family
- pictures
- 3 months worth of joint account statements (not it is up to 8 months)
- public service bill with both our names
- copy of dental, health and prescription insurance with both our names
- car insurance with both our names
- Renter's insurance with both our names
- power of attorney
- Rental Agreement with both our names
So my question is: Should I take all the originals to the interview? And what about the affidavits that the originals were already sent?
-
Gregorypeck: I received the letter saying it was approved one day, and then the EAD the next day.
And guys...

ead in hands. Very cool card hehe
-
Just got notification that the EAD was mailed today!!
me too ! hehe.
Did you get a tracking number for that?
-
Just got e-mail that my EAD was mailed. Wasn't I supposed to receive a tracking number for that??
Tina, did you get the update saying it was mailed?
-
today i reiceived in the mail a letter saying that my ead was approved, but no card inside. Weird. But my online status didn't change saying it was mailed, so I guess it was not an error, I just received that letter that I've never seen no one comment about
-
I didn't get an approval letter.. i just got the EAD.
Never even got an approval notice at all on the website, it just went to Card Production.
maybe your approval notice was undeliverable too, and since there's no tracking number, you never even knew that.
I still didn't get my update saying the EAD was mailed with the tracking number, maybe I will hear something today.... I'll just wait
-
Johan's EAD was approved on the 7th, went into production on the 10th, and, as of this morning, nothing about it being mailed yet. Like the rest of this process, looks like we're going to be slower than our fellow filers.
Did you receive the approval letter in the mail? My ead was approved one day later than his, I think, and today I received the official letter saying it was approved. But the EAD was not inside of it. I don't know if this is normal or what O.o
-
Received e-mail alert for my interview being scheduled to december 11.
-
My EAD was updated to card production today (day 89). I called them on day 76 to put the service request and didn't hear back from them until now. For all of those that are stil waiting, don't lose hope!
-
People, specially Pickle, EAD approved at day 89!!!!!! Don't lose hope!
-
Pickle, did you see that they changed the layout on the case status website? And you know what is weird about that??? When I check my receipt for the EAD, it shows that they received august 14th.... before it showed that they received on the 11th.... Makes me think that they are buying time to adjuticate the document
-
USCIS changed his website. It looks more official right now.
You know what's weird about that change on their website, now my ead receipt shows that they received at august 14th.... before it said that they received the 11th.... weird.
Johan and Tina, check it out to see if your date changed
-
Thanks for the comforting post. I appreciate it. This process has no rhyme or reason. It's so frustrating!
We are almost in the same boat, just a couple days apart.... I always see yours posts and I feel so sorry for Johan, because I know what he is feeling. I am going nuts without being able to work. Hopefully, we will hear something from them soon.
-
Yay- Status finally changed to Card Production for EAD and travel document is also approved. Not sure if it helped, but I did request for a service request last week, after 75 days. 85days later, EAD is on the way .
Congrats. DId they reply your service request, or did it just change to card production out of nowhere? I put the service request, and for me now is day 86... still no response or card production
-
I mailed out the application package on 08/04, and just received email notification that i-485 is now in card production status!
wow congrats. without interview?
-
I don't know where you guys get your information from but you shouldn't be too quick to say what's real information and what not..
If USCIS does not make a decision on your I-765 within 90 days, (30 days for Asylum applicants), you may request an Interim EAD. The interim EAD can be granted for a period up to 240 days.
My mistake, 240 not 244.
Anyway, hopefully your EAD gets to you before that.. if not, you will get your interim one from your local office or by calling customer service.
You understood wrong. I said that the wrong information was what the person from the costumer service told Pickle, that the 75 day didnt count for i-485
-
Since I have the feeling that my EAD will pass the 90 day processing time, I already scheduled an infopass appointment for the day after that (day 91).
If by a miracle I receive the EAD before that, I will just cancel the appointment

No bank should discriminate against you for being a lpr.
They will ask for your identification (green card + SSN) and that should be it.
Anyways, Wells Fargo is known for being an easy bank when it comes to foreigners. They will probably just ask for your passport (from your original country).
