  1. We are also approved and Sean has received his letter from London, and as anxious as we both are, now we have to get creative about slowing down the process a bit. My fiancé fell ill in November. He's responding well to treatment, but he can't travel yet. He's not even up for the trip to London for the medical or the interview, never mind moving to the States. His doctor wants to keep an eye on him until late Summer, early Fall. So now that everything is out of Texas and moving along swimmingly, we're looking for ways to slow the process down and buy some time.

    We've been advised by the immigration specialist at my congressman's office to write to the embassy and request an extension on the NOA2, so they know we're not abandoning the application. It's all very depressing to be honest with you all.

    Posting mostly just to share with my July/TSC compatriots, but if anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears.

    Best of luck to you all.

  2. I know that everyone here is doing everything they can to EXPEDITE their K1 applications, I'm wondering if anyone has ever needed to request a delay?

    I posted a few weeks ago that my fiancé, who is from the U.K., fell ill and may need a liver transplant. Since then we have confirmed that he has a noncommunicable autoimmune disease that is attacking his liver and a transplant is unavoidable. Because he is from the U.K. and has National Health Services we are currently of the opinion that it makes sense he remain in the U.K. for the procedure. This does mean a considerable delay in our plans and likely means forfeiting out K1 Visa application.

    We are July filers, Texas office, so we haven't received NOA2 yet. There are so many people who are also in queue with us who don't have this problem. If we could move to the back of the line, I feel we wouldn't have to start again from scratch. But I can't find any way to make that request.

    In my earlier post, there were good suggestions for stalling the London consulate that might win us a few months. What I'm hoping to find is a means to put our application on hiatus until we're ready to proceed. I have considered contacting my senator's office, does anyone think that might be helpful?

    I appreciate your insight and experience. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

  3. We are July filers, going through Texas, so we were hoping for NOA2 sometime in the next few months. My fiancé went to the hospital a few days ago and it looks like he may need a liver transplant. He's from the UK, so it's probably best that he gets cared for by NHS, rather than try to travel in his condition and get on my insurance and then wait on a list here. Also, my work and insurance in intermittent, which would not help matters.

    This means he will need to stay in the UK for much longer than the 4-8 months we were expecting. Do we have to forfeit our K1 application and start over from scratch when he's well? Can we be put on hold?

    I'm just finding out about this this morning, happy thanksgiving :(

    so I don't have any more info than what I'm sharing here. Any info you can provide will help calm my racing brain. Thanks much.

  4. I just went to check the status of our 129-f application, a useless exercise I do every Monday morning and woah! Newly designed website! So, I typed my receipt number in where it is requested and received a "Validation Error." It read;

    Validation Error(s)
    You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
    • At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.

    What??

    So I thought, maybe I need to sign in. Which I did, and got this message;

    Validation Error(s)
    You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
    • Your account has been locked for one of the following reasons:
      (1) Account inactivity.
      (2) Too many unsuccessful login attempts.

    • Select Forgot Your User Name or Password ? and follow the instructions to reset your password.

    Which makes no sense because I check my account weekly and I haven't had ANY unsuccessful login attempts (except for this one.)

    So, I started to reset my password and I answered ONE security question, what day did we meet, and got THIS;

    The answers you provided to the password security questions did not match our records. Please contact customer support by email at myUSCISsupport@uscis.dhs.gov.

    Now, I am going to email support, but I wonder is anyone else having this kind of fun and giggles?

  5. rhirhi Crossing the street in Boston (or Massachusetts in general) is just a confusing thing to do. It's not you. Those of us who grew up around here think that crosswalks are for old ladies and moms pushing strollers. A true Bostonian runs out into traffic and knows that it's the drivers' responsibility to figure it all out ;) I'm not saying that's right, or safe, or smart, I'm just saying that is how I grew up, and I didn't know there was anything different until I lived on the west coast and was met with scowling faces and jaywalking tickets.

    Welcome to the Commonwealth!
