Yay so glad we both got interviews!!! We just scheduled his medical and they are doing it over 2 days: one day for xrays and blood work, the second day for physical check. Then back to Jo'burg in a couple weeks for the interview. So excited!
Congrats to you!
Ah, yes, me too! We're so close to this all being over with. And I looked last night on DHL and I saw a package to SA sent out Wednesday and another one sent out Thursday so maybe those are our packages! Hope the interview goes well for y'all!

Yayy so happy for everyone! We got the interview today as well! We had already scheduled the medical just in case a few weeks ago and it's perfect timing for the interview since it'll take 10-14 days for the Dr. to send the medical files to the embassy. So medical on April 29th then interview May 12th and hopefully POE May 21st!!!!

So I played around with the tracking on the DHL website today since I called yesterday and they said there's still no interview date scheduled for me. It seems like packages are still going out albeit none to South Africa but at least they're not at a standstill.

I've been calling NVC for the past hour. I've gotten through 3 times without having to call over and over again, and put on hold, but each time, the line goes dead and my call is dropped. Is anyone else having a problem like this?
Yeah I had that problem Wednesday. It dropped about 3 or 4 times as well but I waited about 5 minutes then called again and waited until the end of the prompt each time to press the number and finally it didn't drop that time.

We're practically twins!! I sure do hope so but not really sure what to expect bc like you said, not a lot of data for SA embassy. I'm the US citizen and my husband is the SA citizen. He is coming to visit me next week.....so he can get all the original paperwork (don't trust the mail haha). Finally feeling like were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel but after being apart this long I'd rather wait the last bit out together.
Good luck to you! Will make sure I keep the thread updated with any news.
I'm the US citizen and my husband is the SA citizen as well! Ah yeah I forgot to bring the original marriage certificate with me when I visited him in February so now I have to mail it which I'm nervous about seeing as only half the stuff I've mailed has reached the final destination haha. I know what you mean. It's so close but I don't think I'll let myself get too excited until he has his visa in hand. Such a roller coaster ride with USCIS, NVC and also the SA Home Affairs haha. Good luck to you too!

Yay I'm here. CC yesterday 4/1/2015 , just awaiting interview date at Johannesburg embassy.
Congrats on your CC. We have the same CC date and the same embassy! Hopefully we'll be scheduled for the interview soon! I don't see a lot of people from SA on Visajourney so maybe we'll have an early interview date as well.

congrats.....celebrate!!!!
great to see nvc managed to push out a few today!!!!
yippeee
Thank you! We are. Luckily my husband woke up just as I got off the phone with the NVC rep so it was exciting to share the news with him immediately.
Awesome!! Congratulations! Best of luck on the interview!
Thank you!!

Alright, CC was confirmed by NVC rep. Asked about when I would get an interview date or when they'll mail out the file to the embassy and he said they can't ever predict the time for that. So just waiting patiently for the interview date to be scheduled.

Just saw 3 N/A's. On hold with NVC to get a confirmation! Scan date was 3/02.

Each day I'm getting a little more anxious wondering if I did everything right on my package. Especially seeing how more and more checklists are popping up. I keep redoing everything over and over in my head making sure I got every box and line. Nothing I can do now but just sit back and wait. What have you gotten your checklist for? And was it something you were surprised about, something stupid, etc?
And is it still another 60 days to wait after you send in the corrections?
-
So this forum is my new obsession instead of constantly checking ceac I just check here and try to calculate how many days we have left with every new case complete. Just something to keep me from going crazy I just keep saying to myself a late(but not too late!) approval is better than an early checklist. My scan date was March 2nd!
-
I just wish they would've hired more people to help with all the cases. But I guess that's too much to ask. Ok well I'll still cross my fingers for at least no checklist and then I can deal with the 60 days. Good luck to the both of y'all!

Has anyone had any luck calling NVC inquiring about your case once you sent in your IV and AOS packages and gotten a shorter processing time instead of the 60 days? I know the 60 day rule isn't the exact number and some people have gotten their approval in less than that such as 52 days. Will the NVC look at your case quicker if you keep calling or if you talk to a Level 2 Supervisor? Im not expecting an unrealistic super fast approval but even 10 days faster would help us. Thanks everyone.

I'm filling out I-864 EZ as I answered all the questions yes to qualify but when I get to question 19 where it has a check box that says I have filed a Federal tax return for the past 3 years. The problem is I've only filed for the past 2 years because those are the only years I've worked. Will I need to file the I-864 now or keep on with the I-864 EZ??

Called today and found out I got a case number and it was assigned yesterday but they wouldn't give me my IIN So I'll call back tomorrow!
-
With all the updates to the system, you would think they would change it to it being automated. I heard they keep a call log every time you call. Does it affect you negatively or positively to call a lot? Or does it even affect you getting your case number at all?
-
I've been calling NVC every other day for information and they're saying it now takes 42 days from the time they received it for them to give you a case number. Does anyone know if this is pretty accurate or just a line they have to keep on saying? I want to keep on calling every other day but don't want to if there's no point in calling if I can't get the case number any earlier.
-
Called NVC today and they said they received our case yesterday on oct. 30th. Now just waiting 2 weeks to call again for the case number even though she told me to wait a month for them to mail me a letter. Sorry NVC I'm impatient!

Hey guys! Just got my NOA2 letter today. They approved it October 16th. Here's to hoping the NVC process doesn't drive me insane and it goes quickly and smoothly!
-
Ok I'll file them as soon as I can. And it's ok if I only have 2 tax returns since I only started working 2 years ago? My parents filed me as a dependent 3 years ago on their taxes.
-
I haven't filed my taxes for this past year. Will that be a problem for the AOS? I don't owe money to the government. I'll be getting money back when I actually file them. I've just been really busy this year and haven't had time to file them yet.

Our service center is Vermont too. Hoping they speed things up the next couple of weeks!

My husband and I are wanting to travel throughout South America after we send in everything for NOA2 at the NVC. We are wanting for him to be able to fly into the States from wherever we are in South America after he gets approved but that won't be able to work if he has to have his interview in Johannesburg. He lives in South Africa. Is there any way to get an interview in another country?
Does my husband need new SS card?
in Social Security Numbers

My husband got his visa last week and has been in the states for a week now!!! So big thank you to everyone on this forum for helping with the process and answering questions! My husband has worked in the states before on a work visa and was issued a social security number and card which says valid for work only. Will he need a new SS card since he's here on a different visa now?
