  1. I just received a letter from the NVC saying that there are more applicants for visas than there are immigrant visa numbers resulting in a delay that could mean years.

I realize there's likely no way to expediate the process from my end, the NVC is just backlogged, but does anyone how much longer it will take? The VISA BULLETIN says they're currently working on April 2013 cases.

Am I right to assume the wait is another 14 months until they're working on June 2014 cases?

I was anticipating to have my Green Card by March 2015, and now it looks like it will be another year at least... This is a huge blow for me and my husband. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

The National Visa Center (NVC) received the immigrant visa petition filed by ___________ on behalf of ____________ from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Currently, a visa number is unavailable and this petition is not eligible for further processing at this time. The reason for this delay is that there are more applicants for visas than there are immigrant visa numbers available under the limitation prescribed by law. For some visa categories, this delay could be many years.

This petition will be eligible for a visa number and further processing once your priority date is earlier than the
cut-off date listed in the current edition of the visa bulletin. To learn what the current cut-off date is for this
petition, please visit our website: http://travel.state.gov/visas/checkdate

You will need the following information to determine if your case is eligible for a visa number:
    Country of Chargeability................CANADA
Visa Category.................................F2A - SPOUSES AND UNMARRIED CHILDREN OF PERMANENT RES.
    Priority Date...................................26 JUNE 2014

You should not make any firm plans such as disposing of property, giving up jobs, or making travel arrangements at this time. As soon as your case becomes eligible for further processing, we will contact you or your attorney (if you designated one). You do not need to contact us unless you need to report a change of mailing address, email address, or a change in your personal situation that may affect your entitlement to an immigrant visa (forexample: marriage, divorce, or birth of a child).
    Sincerely,
