  1. so, an adjustment of status casefile was submitted but the green card hasn't been issued yet? correct?

if that's the case, and you want to get off the hook for the I-864,

    I suggest you

    1. file a petition for divorce in your county courthouse, then send the 'file received copy' of the divorce petition

    2. in to uscis with a letter telling the USCIS that you are withdrawing your I-864, affadavit of support

---can do this in person at an infopass appointment, it's actually the fastest way to get the support yanked

it's up to you about putting him back on the plane, but i'd file the divorce petition plus get his signature on a waiver to appear document, quickly.

So you are telling me to The divorce first and get his signature ... I can put him on a plane sooner than that

  2. Ok so my new husband is here in the U.S. On

K-1 visa . We are trying to purchase a new car .the Linder FMC dosent want to exccept his SS card cos they say it for work only . So from what I understand is that will not change until he becomes a U.S. Citizen ..

I'm so frustrated !! We are trying to build a life togather ..

So can any one tell me how this works ?

  3. Need instruction .

My husband came over on K-1 visa .

We went to the Social Security office in January and received his social security card .. We married in February .. He's now receiving his work release .. My question is do we need to return to the Social Security office ? For any changes on that's .

As I do understand he has to return to the drivers license department as that was temporary !!

  4. On 02/18/2015 I sent my I-751 Form with all the requirements, few days later i received my I-797 NOA. Iv'e been waiting for the Biometrics appointment since then. I just got my I-797C NOA one hour ago in the mail. my Biometrics is scheduled for this Month, I can't wait to let you guys know when I get my Condition removed :)

This have been a great journey for me since 2012 now its 2015 I'm in the process of removing my condition. just letting the new guys out there know that it's possible.

    Congratulations !!!!!

  5. FINALLY after 3 and a half years and exactly one day shy of the 6 month mark after sending in the removal of conditions packet(NOA1 was August 25, 2014), we received a text notification to check the USCIS site. My husband's 10 year green card was approved and it's in the mail. Just one last step, applying for citizenship which he can start in July of this year. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We have had a very smooth journey in spite of the nay sayers who warned us that because of certain "red flags" we have in our marriage our journey would be long and difficult. We sailed through the entire process from start to finish. No RFE's, no significant delays, just a few weeks of AP after his interview at the consulate in Amman. To those nay sayers who told us there was no way we be approved because I happen to be 20 years older than my husband, and because he is Muslim and I am Catholic, because I am divorced with children and that we were married not long after meeting for the first time, we prevailed. I am not sure why a certain few people go out of their way to intentionally scare people who are in the midst of this long journey, people who insist that just because you may or may not fit the conventional mold of what a relationship is supposed to look like, that there is no way you will succeed in this journey without pain and heartache. This community is about supporting others, not about adding stress to an already stressful process.

I want to send a shout out to the rest community here at VJ, the majority of whom are kind, compassionate and very VERY knowledgeable. Without the guidance, support and advice from the members here we never would have been able to complete this process on our own. When the time comes for my husband to apply for citizenship I am sure we will be back for more sage advice from the many wonderful members of this community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

    Cathi and Moath

    CONGRATULATIONS !!

Me and my fiancé just married February 15.

We are truly happy and in love And there is a age difference of 17 years . We are just starting our process of AOS .

I want to say THANK YOU for sharing your story it's an inspiration to us.

  6. My fiancé got approved on the Dec 3

    In Nigeria.

Anyone from there know how long it takes for them to process the visa ?

    I checked the CEAC.State.gov

    It changed from ready-to AP

ANY ONE KNOW HOW LONG ? To process his visa

  7. I'm not exactly sure what NVC processing consists of but from what I read it may be background/name checks and/or document verification. But it seems to only be taking a few days to about a week for NVC to process the case before sending along to the embassy.

    Hi Loveslin509,

With that case number you should be able to track your case at ceac.state.gov to see when it's mailed out to the embassy. Turn around time from the time it leaves NVC to when it arrives to the embassy can vary, but I would say about 1-2 weeks. The embassy will contact you with additional instructions once they have received the case. Some embassys send out a packet while others send email notification. In the meantime you and your fiancé(e) should start preparing/gathering documents and information that will be needed for the interview. You can take a look at your embassy's page for additional information specific to their processing. Hopefully you find that helpful :)
