  1. I may or may not need a joint sponsor but we have our interview in less than 2 weeks and I want to have it all done just in case. I am self employed (incorporated) and last year made enough money but the priors years were very low. This is just "in case it is needed", I will have it and we won't get an RFE. I have tried to have as much information as possible so if asked we can provide. I tend to stress over every little detail as I am sure many of you do.

Would we just have the joint sponsor do another i-864 or do they do a different form?

    Thanks so much.

  2. We have our interview next month and my spouse had a J1 for high school. He cannot find his ds-2019 form and the agency CIEE only keeps it so many years and we are past that. A few months ago when I had even more anxiety about this I found a way to do an online chat with CIEE who said they didn't keep the ds-2019 after all of this time but they couldn't see how he would have been subject because they were not aware of any government funding for high school from south america. He came here for about 10 months for high school and his parents paid around $5000 in addition to monthly money for him during that time. He is 99% sure he didn't get any money from the US government or his local government. But, still I worry because all we have is the J1 Visa that says "Bearer is NOT subject to 212(E)", which I know is a good start but I have heard the IO can say "prove it". Since having the j1 he has had two f1s and has never fallen out of status, etc.

Anyone been in a similar situation? I know the skills list wouldn't come into play for a high school student, just idea of a problem stresses me out. We didn't get any RFE's during the filing process.

Thanks for any guidance. I just tend to worry about every little detail. He's finishing school up and is done in august and we will be living together full time as opposed to 4 days out of the week so I know that will be a question about our different addresses but I feel like we have a good explanation and have lots of documentation (finances, family, power of attorneys, etc.)

    Thank you!

  3. Okay thank you. I got a text notification this morning that our interview has been scheduled on 8/18. He moves here full time on 8/22. I"m hoping this isn't a problem. He's been in school and lives here 4 days out of the week. Was really hoping we would have had time to chance the address and have the interview here instead of in a city 4 hours away, but it is what it is.

  4. We filed on the first of June, had biometrics July 3rd and just got a notice for the interview Aug 18th.

Is it normal that it is this fast? We haven't received any RFE's yet. I of course am nervous just because it is such an important thing. I guess I"m just looking for some opinions on if it is typically this fast? Work permit hasn't moved (but i hear that is normal and many people get their GC before that.)

    Thanks all.

  5. We went through that last week. As someone who generally worries about every little thing, I was surprised at how quick it was. We had the appointment at the Ft. Worth service center. My husband was in and out in about 10 minutes. I waited in the car because I believe they really only want the person requested in there due to limited space.

Ms. Harpa Tismah is always a wealth of information. I"ve followed this site for about a year and just recently joined and want to share any experiences and help I can. Her posts and answers have provided great comfort to me during the entire process. She tells it like it is. Unlike many attorneys who give "wishy-washy" answers.

  6. Today (like I do every day) I checked online to see the status of the case #s. The one for the I-485 has moved to testing and interview. My husband is finishing up school this summer and is still living there 3 days out of the week, but will be moving here (with me) full time at the end of August.

I am concerned about the location of the interview, here would be Dallas, his school address would fall under San Antonio. Do they usually base the interview on the petitioner or applicant's address?

He did biometrics last week, so I am really surprised that it is already in testing/interview period. Maybe it stays in this status for awhile? and I"m wrongly thinking it will move a lot faster than it will? :)

    Thanks!
