  1. marriage certificate is the general one used for name change, other then that if they are looking for other proof from the government not sure how you would get something different.

yeah she has the marriage cert but they specifically want something that states she is changing her last name to my name. Strange, but that is the law in Uzbekistan.

I thought today that I may have her contact a lawyer there to see what might be suggested.

    Thanks

  2. Hey all,

My wife is from Uzbekistan and has traveled there to visit family as well as change her passport. Her Uzbekistan passport has her maiden name on it and now she wants to change it to her married name. However, the passport office in Uzbekistan is requesting a government form stating that her married last name will be changed to her husbands last name.

Need help here guys cause i can not think of anything that would be official in the US and cover what they are requesting. Any suggestions??

    Thanks!!

  3. If you are traveling to a Russian speaking country or your significant other is from a Russian speaking country then check out this translator.

I used it on my trip over seas and left it for my wife. She used it to help her learn English. It is a great tool. It will translate Russian into English and vice versa. It will then speak the word which definitely teaches you how to sound the word out.

I hope someone here can find use for it because it was a big help to us. I wanted to give the ebay link and say that I am selling it for well below what I paid for it. It is in like new condition.

    Thanks!

    here's the link:

  4. don;t know exactly what you mean. My soon to be wife is from Uzbekistan and I know she had to update her passport at 25 years of age. I think this is what you are talking about???

In any event, if you are in the US to be married then you have no problems. Uzbekistan does not allow for dual citizenship so the moment you left for USA... your Uzbek passport went bye bye. That is what my fiance tells me. She said she can not have dual citizenship.. she already checked.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I believe the ds156k is completed online. If they say you need it and it is on the checklist, I would not ignore it. One thing about the US government, that I have learned, the guy before you did not need "it" but you do! hehe

Just go to the USCIS website and get the form. Better safe than sorry.

  6. I started losing weight and Olya said "Oh my your face so thin! I like like before!" So in one hand I want to lose weight and in the other my fiance loves me chubby. I have about 15 more pounds to go so this will be interesting!

  7. Well I completed the DS156 Electronic for my fiancee but I may have made a boo boo.

On the question asking if you will work in the US yes or no (give name and address of employer) ... I put no.

My thought was that she has no job lined up at this time and therefore we could not give an employer name. Yet she will work once she gets all the paperwork in line.

I told her if they ask at Consulate about this to tell them just that. Once in the US I will work but I do not have a job ready at this time.

Think that will cause a problem for her??

    Thanks!

  8. I'm no PhD so take what I say only from what I know from College and what my Father and Mother endure.

    Sweets are all but eliminated!

Even some food, as you mentioned potatos, are reduced or eliminated.

You must take care and watch bruises and what you used to consider "minor" injuries.

You will test yourself everyday for your blood sugar levels.

You will fall asleep like a little baby and get tired much easier.

You will not be as strong as you once thought you were.

You will exercise regularly and lower your body fat or else.

Diabetes is a horrible, horrible thing. It can be controlled and you will be ok if you are very strict. If you are not well I can assure that you will be like my father... he started out type II and is now type I. Why?? Because he thought he could just keep doing what he did before diabetes. Everyone in our family knew that if you wanted candy just sneak out to Dad's truck but we could not force him to change.

So if you are not strict and you do not watch yourself everyday. If you think type II is the worst you can get, well...

Oh and btw... this year my Mother was diagnosed with diabetes. How did that happen with no history of is in her family?? Ahh, well she would buy cakes and pies all the time for everyone. Well she would eat some everyday a couple times and probably alittle more than the rest of us ever knew. She would buy the stuff because my Father would raise a big fuss if he did not get the stuff after dinner. She said she knew that he was eating it away from home so why not give it to him at home so she can atleast know how much he eats. Yeah I know.... and i tried to explain the backwards logic but... now she knows and she now has diabetes.

Just be careful and be as strict as you can everyday. It won't be easy but I have seen many people live good lives while fighting this disease.
