  1. We did send a new support form. Also, current W2. Just a little concerned that they are now saying her wages are now not sufficient... Seems a little backwards to approve the visa based on the first affidavit, let me quit my job, sell my home, car, motorcycles and all my possessions, move 4000 miles and THEN say 'oh hold on a second...' I'm sure we'll sort it out anyway...

    Thanks everyone.

  2. Hey guys,

So, I received a request for more info today for the AOS which is confusing... Basically, they say that my wife doesn't make the poverty line but her W2 from last year clearly shows she does... She's even had a couple raises since then. They've asked for bank statements, letter from work and wage stubs etc which isn't a problem but we provided all this with the original affidavit with the i129f. Any advice? I'm going to try and call on Monday.

  3. So, I applied for my SS card during December but still hadn't received my card even though the officer at the social office said I had provided all necessary paperwork.

So I called today and the person on the phone said I had applied too late as my i94 expires on 16th Feb and I was supposed to apply more than 2 weeks before it expires. Obviously I did but the SS office didn't process my application on time! So they are now saying that there is nothing I can do. I'm thinking of writing to the local governor to see if they can help but I'm really not holding out much hope.

We got married on the 31st Jan and are now preparing to send off the paperwork for adjustment of status...

    Help anyone?

  4. Several people lately have said they did not look at their supporting evidence or else didn't keep it for the file. I haven't paid detailed attention to it to figure out of it's one particular officer or a new trend. However, it's always best to bring something.

So to be clear--You never handed over any supporting evidence? Not at the first window clerical worker? Not at the second window interviewing officer? It remained in your folder.

Thats correct. Not a single thing, no W2, no pay stubs, nothing. At the first window the lady asked for the affidavit of support so I handed it over. I asked if she wanted the supporting evidence too and she said no. Just tucked the affidavit into my file. Took my police check certificate and birth certificate and sent me away again.

I was expecting to get asked for evidence at the second window but after asking a few questions about how Tori and I met and about our relationship he said that we're approved and sent me on my way. He didn't even ask how much she earnt... Not that I'm complaining, just surprised is all.

Just to add, he didn't ask me if I had any savings either.... I do, but he didn't ask so it's not like he knew I'd be ok to survive on that....

  5. Sorry, I probably used the wrong term when I said tax return... I meant her W2... However, London didn't want to see it anyway. They looked at absolutely no supporting evidence to back up what she'd put on the affidavit and just took what was on the form... That's not to say it wasn't accurate, I was just surprised that they didn't want to check as I'm sure someone in the past has 'embellished the truth'..

  6. I never received my packet 3... I just submitted the necessary forms, had the medical and got approved yesterday... Don't bother waiting for it. Once you have everything you need just submit the readiness form and away you go

London received our case at the beginning of September so it's not like I was just being impatient either

    Good luck!

  7. Congrats! and thank you. This has calmed my nerves. The only thing that is worrying me is that when we apply, my fiance will only have one tax return to show. (possibly two by the time we adjust status) I just hope this will not cause a problem for us.

Like you, my fiance will be earning just over the 125% mark. (He is currently training for a job)

Well Tori only sent me the one tax return because she has only worked there for just over a year. And actually, the tax return she sent only showed her having earnt a small amount because she got the job half way through the tax year. Either way, they didn't seem bothered. Maybe it's because when the guy asked for the affidavit I asked if he wanted the supporting evidence too. He just said he wanted the form only... Also, I was stood there with a ring binder stuffed full of information so it probably looked like I had all the paper work I could possibly want... In reality I was bricking it but the officials are really friendly and seemed happy to chat and give a bit of banter too which was nice.

  8. My lady earns only just over the 125% mark and I was approved yesterday with no problems. The guy doing the interview didn't even ask to see her pay stubs or her W2, or the letter from her employer. He briefly glanced over the affidavit of support before filing it away. I've got 12k in savings that I'll be taking but again, he didn't even ask..

  9. Ahh cool, I was wondering about this. I was approved yesterday and have opted to pick it up from the depot as I work all day and also it's not far from my house. Looking forward to that email now!

  10. Ok, so I've checked the UK guide (several hundred times) and searched through old threads but there seems to be some conflicting/out of date info. So, I've got my interview date for 17th October...

    I've done/got the following:

    DS-160 submitted and confirmation printed,

    Original I-129f from my lady

Affidavit of support with last years W2, old payslips and letter from her employer confirming employment, slary etc

Paid fees and printed the receipt,

Supporting evidence of our relationship (phone calls, messages etc)

    Passport ready and willing,

    Appointment letter for the interview

    NOA2 letter

    My police certificate

    Birth certificate...

So basically, have I missed anything?

Also, I read somewhere that I'm allowed to take my phone into the embassy now? Is that the case?

    Thanks all!

  11. Form change timeline London K1

    Before Sept 1, 2013

Fill in and mail paper forms DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157

Have a medical and gather your documents

Fill in and mail paper form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview

    Between Sept 1 and Oct 7, 2013

    Complete online submission of DS-260

Have a medical and gather your documents

Fill in and mail paper form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview

    Since Oct 7, 2013

    Complete online submission of DS-160

Have a medical and gather your documents

Complete online submission of the Readiness for Interview form. (not called DS-2001 any more)

The pinned visa guide you have read is the one to follow. It needs some work because of minor changes--

+Link in first post to documents went pear shaped

+DOS no longer tells you anything

+No need to go to Gould's to check your phone. Phones allowed inside embassy.

+Map link doesn't work for me.

The general procedure and forms are still correct.

That, my friend is exactly the answer I'd hoped for... Thanks so much!

  12. London require three things before they will give you an interview date: medical results, completed DS-160 and completed online readiness form. I would wait until your medical results are at the consultate, mostly likely by the end of the week - check for updates to your CEAC status to confirm - then submit your online readiness form the following Monday.

Check the London guide (see my signature) for links to the relevant web pages/forms as well as a step-by-step guide for K-1s via London.

Now that you are at the consulate stage you might wish to post additional questions you might have in the UK regional forum, as each consulate has slightly different variations regarding the remainder of the K-1 process:

Thanks for that, I've bookmarked your guide and read it several times over the last few days... So, I understand all of the info about the online DS-160 which I've done and submitted yesterday. But I'm sure I read somewhere about a form needing completing before the interview but not to sign it until the actual interview...? Is this no longer the case?

  13. Hi all,

I've tried several different search terms and found lots of info but they always seem to be old threads which is just throwing up confusion...

So, can anyone tell me exactly which caroms are required before I submit the ready for interview thingy.

I have the affidavit of support from my lady and everything needed for to support that,

    I've submitted the online DS-160

I've booked my Medical (for tomorrow)

Please can someone tell me what else I need because having followed the link to the embassy it doesn't suggest any other forms are required but I remember reading somewhere that I need to print one for the embassy but not sign it?

Thanks in advanced everyone and I'm sorry if this is obvious. Just can't seem to make sense of it all for some reason...
