  1. Hey everyone,

So far things are going well Pond has been working and I'm finishing up school but we have run into a few re-occuring problems. From what I gather sharing any difficulties within your marriage with a stranger isn't normal practice with Thai's so she is not very receptive to seeing a counselor. The few problems we have we're able to live just fine until something brings them up then its rumble royale time. And the biggest problem is neither of us are willing to budge an inch. She is convinced I'm wrong and I'm convinced she is wrong so I'm looking for someone to mediate or speak to her so she see's a different take on things .

I'm looking on yahoo groups but haven't found much.

    Thanks!

  2. Ok I owe everyone an apology for disappearing. I was freaked out and I'm sure I stressed a few of you out. Well everything went just fine Pond didn't receive her visa on wednesday because there was a little catch since she had her name changed when she was younger but friday she picked it up no problem.

We will be meeting at LAX on thursday at 8:40pm!! I cannot tell you how excited I am.

So to everyone who was worried about the coup affecting Visas I dont think it did much.

Thank you to everyone for your help..

    now to the AOS...

  3. Stone,

Interesting to know for sure that the consulate was open on Wednesday. I wouldn't be surprised if it was understaffed due to some (or many) of the Thai staffers who do the 'grunt work' staying home due to the unfolding events.

I got a very upset call yesterday. Pond was scheduled to pick up her visa wednesday (her birthday) after a successful interview monday. She showed up at noon and was called into a room to wait with all the others there to pick up their visa. one by one they were called until she was left and she finally asked if hers was there and showed her card.

They just unapologetically told her it wasn't ready to come back tomorrow and if not tomorrow then for sure friday. To me this sounds like a typical government office to me but she was absolutely crushed.

is there ANY reason for us to worry?

    Thanks

    Yodrak,

We really weren't sure if they would be open but I checked the website and she called. She wasn't happy about all the armed soldiers running around but if anything was going to get her out of the house this was it.

I'll keep everyone updated. She did fail to mention that there was something said about her name change. She was very sick when she was younger and they did a name change ceremony and had her name changed. We had all the paperwork for it so we didn't think it was going to be a big deal. Maybe this was holding them up.

    I'll report back tomorrow night.

  5. GOT IT!!

Pond had her interview this morning got there about 6am. Got the call 10 minutes ago about 9:45am bangkok time. Very simple interview the woman was very cordial and caring.

The questions she was asked: (in case anyone is preparing for theirs and curious)

    WHere and when we met:

how many times I had been to visit

when the last time I was there

    where she will live

pretty simple. I was worried since I wasn't able to go with her.

I cannot thank everyone here enough I would have been lost without this website.

  6. We were originally scheduled for September 13th but received a call and the Embassy is closed that day and we were rescheduled for the 18th and told we would receive a letter confirming this. We still haven't received the new letter but we have the original letter and printed out the visa interview schedule page to show them.

Do we NEED to get this letter? We've called, emailed and gone to the embassy but haven't gotten anywhere.

  7. Thank you guys we have everything and then some. I meet the requirements just fine but had my father co-sponsor we have been very attentive to detail I just dont know what we'll do if we get denied .Just having jitters sorry.

Thank you for your replys everyone here has been a HUGE help.

  8. Almost home... I think.

Ok well ,we have our interview date of September 18th and we as of today have every last peice of paperwork and then some. I have been feeling confident about everything as we have sped through the process pretty well with no problems. But today I spoke with a friend who scared me. HIs brother had some big problems getting his wife from Brazil a visa. He was telling me to be ready for the interview process because its very indepth and we should rehearse our answers and be ready for anything.

I know I've read that each embassy is different and their requirements are different but still this has me spooked.

Am I being paranoid now or should I really prepare for disapproval?

  9. ANy help is appreciated Pond and I seem to be disagreeing about what we do now.

She received packet 3 in the mail last week she then went to the embassy and they took her DS-230. Her was done yesterday and her police record will be finished August 25th..

Now what? she thinks we have to wait for more mail from the embassy. Do we just wait or do we have to turn in packet 3?

What do the instructions state? In many cases a document does not need to be translated for interview stage unless it is in a language other then english or the country's native language.

The instructions I downloaded state they only needed to be translated if they weren't in thai or english but Pond read me the instructions she received which I didn't really understand but she seems to think it needs to all be in english.

  11. -First let me preface by saying I'm sorry because I KNOW this has been covered before and as a moderator of motomummy.com I Know how bothersome redundant posts can but but I've searched all morning and cant find it.

We have receieved packet 3 from the US embassy in bangkok and we immediately returned DS-230 as they asked. We now have everything together for the check list but we're both confused on what to do next. Pond says we must wait for mail from the Embassy then we mail in DS-156, DS-156K then we must wait for an interview date. What do we do now?

ALso; do all her documents need to be translated to english? I think its only her birth certificate thats in thai.

    Thank you

  12. I'm from Utah and my assigned service center was Nebraska so I sent my I-29F there no problems it was received and I got my NOA 1 from the California service center.

Was I reassigned? or am I still being processed in Nebraska? just a little confused.

ALSO.. how fast do the processing times on their website move? They are processing applications received Februay 15 (today is June 27) does this mean it will probably be 4 months until they reach ours??

sorry newb questions trying to read so much still only halfway through sawasdee 2.

  13. Hi Stone,

That might be a reference to the Thai house registration. Can you give me a link to where that is listed on the thaivisa site?
