Just got my letter! I was so sure I'd get an RFE, but apparently what little we had was enough.

When I go to check my status on the USCIS site, though, I just get the "Fees were waivered" glitch message.

Now I'm just hoping the actual card won't get lost in the mail... and that the CSC gets to the rest of you guys soon!

    Uhh, looks and sounds good!
I'm also Vermont, and from Denmark (LOL!!) but still nothing as far as case update.
I'm anxious! - especially since my husband and I have seperated after we sent int the application. We're trying to work some things out but ... it doesn't look too good.
I hope we don't get called into an interview. We had a child so... hopefully they'll let us be.

  2. Anyone who traveled international with the extension letter?

    Just wanna share my experience:

I decided to go to get a stamp in my new passport in February prior to traveling to Denmark. The lady in the NYC office said it wasn't neccesary with the extension letter, however I got it. She also told me to go ahead and apply for citizenship even if my ROC was still pending.

Anyways, I traveled and upon arriving back in JFK, with the stamp in my new passport and the extension letter I still was asked to step aside for further investigation. It added 20 minute to my wait, and they did approve the papers but just an annoyance after 15 hrs travelign with a baby.

  3. Hey, still no updates here. I had my biometrics and also filed to change an error in my name that they had made. Also changed my address, as we were moving. No updates on the website besides the change of my name.

Now, I'm looking to travel to my country for a couple of months with my baby as I have family who wants to see him. I'll just bring my expired Green card and my extension letter correct?
If I get an RFE or interview date, then we'll fly home.

    Anyone suggesting otherwise?

  4. Weird. I had send in my application with a fee waiver request. It was denied. I resend the application with the checks. They cashed them. Now, I'm checking online with my EAC number and it says that my fees were waived? What?! No it wasn't. And, they spelled my name wrong even though I had pointed it out when I send the application the second time. Now, I'm going to get my biometrics done today so I'll fix the name. But why would the website say my fees were waived, when it was denied. Anyone else experienced it?

  5. Welcome to the club Cjax and islandgirl80 :).

Cjax, I filed a month after I was supposed to file too.

islandgirl80: What date did you send your application?

Pikushi: It would be a good idea to call them and rectify it ASAP. Please update your NOA1 receipt date on the list.

BM2014: You should be good as long as they gave you the extension. I hope you have the overdraft protection in case the check is cashed earlier.

USPS notified me of delivery Oct 29, checks were cashed Nov 2.

I didn't receive an extension, just my whole application back as well as a letter denying my request of fee waiver.

So though my application was delivered Oct 7, the first time (3 days before my GC expired) it's late ... I don't know. I know also see that I forgot to put N/A in the questions that didn't apply to us. I think I really messed up the application this time ... :'/

  6. Did two years really fly by just like this?

I sent our application and it was received Oct 7, according to USPS. My card expired Oct 10. I also sent in a fee waiver request. I got everything back last week. The fee waiver was denied. And all my papers were stamped as received Oct 11.
We really don't have the money as we recently had a child, and I stopped working. I've sent in the application again with checks but they'll bounce if cashed before Friday where I will borrow money.

I'm nervous that they stamped the initial application as received Oct 11, when my card expired Oct 10. But let's see.

My AOS was so specific and detailed with evidence. This one basically just have our two years of joint filing of taxes, our new lease with both name on it, insurance papers, and the birth certificate of our son. No photos. Nothing else. Because we're a real couple and we just don't take trips, or take photos. Lol ... boring, old married couple :-)

  7. Sometimes when people are approved on the spot the IO gives them a stamp in their passport that is equivalent to the green card and is valid for a year I believe. They still get their greencard in the mail but i've read of cases where sometimes people want to travel right away and so they request it, and some IO's just stamp without even getting requests from the beneficiary..

I don't get this? What passport stamp are you talking about? My AOS interview got approved but I only received the green card in the mail. There was no stamp. Care to elaborate?

Yes exactly. I didnt request it, but he just went ahead and asked if I wanted to stamp the passport and I said yes. I guess because he took out my i-90 but my F-1 visa is still in there, that it made it better. Wasn't even sure but my green card is on its way in the mail.

  8. We arrived at Long Island City office around 9:50, and waited until 10:30, when our name was called - at our appointment time.

The interview took no more than 10 minutes. A whole bunch of fast questions were directed to my husband and then I but they weren't tricky, just simple questions that we shoud know as a married couple. E.g. what's our cross street? What school do I go to? Where was he born? etc.

He approved us on the spot, and gave my passport the stamp.

Phew! Congratulations, and good luck to everybody else in here. Talk to you in 2016!! ;)

  9. Today is our interview. 10:30 at Long Island City, NY.

My husband said not to worry that we don't have much additional evidence of our marriage, as that's what happens in real marriages. Some people don't take pictures, and are busy with everyday life and can't make trips. Which is the case of us. We've been busy, and this day sneaked up on us like I don't even know.

Since we're both on our lease, and car insurance we'll figure that should be ok. And, I'm from Denmark so it's a low risk country. I had been here for 3 years already, more or less, so it's only normal that I'd fall in love and not want to leave him.

Hmm... Fingers crosse we don't get a interviewer that has a bad day.

    Wish us well!!

  10. Green card received in the mail today. Shout out to everyone, it's been real while it lasted! Thanks to u all for the collective support during this long process and good luck to everyone still on the waiting. We'll all get there eventually... Hopefully we gather again come 2016 when it's time for ROC!! Peace...

Congratulations! Our interview is Oct 10th, can't wait.

Funny thing, my international advisor from CUNY called me and asked what was going on with my registration. this is my last semester, and I'm therefor registered for less than 12 credits. She's freaking out because one form immigration is coming to do an audit and she's afraid my case will be pulled. I never fell out of status, so it would be just "AWESOME" if I ran into trouble now ... tsk!

And btw, FAFSA ... You're eligible for that?!

  11. I received my EAD on Monday and went straight to the Social Security office with my passport, marriage certificate (to prove name change) and the EAD card. She took a copy of everything, and gave me a letter that the SSN will be mailed to me within 4 weeks. She said it wasn't anything that I did wrong, but that it takes a little time because I was JUST approved!

What is all of this e-verify that I'm reading about?

Our Green Card interview is Oct 10. Any suggestions to what / how we should prepare for it?

  12. Luckily, I renewed my passport half a year before filing for the K-1 visa. So I am safe a while! The consulate here in MN told me the other day that you cannot apply for a new passport anywhere in the US, except in Washington at the Embassy. Do they expect every Swede to travel down there and do it in person? The Swedish government should pay for the airfare if that is the case.

My passport expires in June 2016. I didn't have any plans to go to Denmark before then but maybe I should, since renewal of passports in the States are more expensive and then I have to ad the planefare and everything else connected with going to DC.

  13. I'm adjusting from F-1 and judging by her timeline it appears we filed AOS same day and even got NOA 1 same day lol. Interesting!!! Prolly will use her as a case study to determine what category of AOS applicants gets processed faster than the other. Right now my AOS is being handled at the Nebraska Service Center, to the best of my knowledge it hasn't been transferred to my local CIS office yet. I'm suspecting starting this week down to the 15th, I'll get updates regarding an interview notice. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm also adjusting from F-1, and at Nebraska Service center. I'm 16 days after you. We're at Scheduling for interview since the 6th but still no letter from USCIS. I'm hoping that we could be one of the cases that doesnt need an interview.

So far I'm just proud that I managed to do the application ALL ON MY OWN and no RFE's.

I'm dying to start working. Been sending out interviews all over NYC in the hospitality/tourism industry. Got a pretty good chance with Big Bus but I also like to get into a hotel. .. So if you know of any ;)

  14. Ok so my husband received an email on June 10th that his AOS packet was received and accepted. About two weeks later he got a letter for biometrics which he went on June 27th. By chance on August 1st he checked the uscis website and he noticed a change to his AOS. It had interview! We got the paper notification on Monday August 4th that he will have an interview on September 4th! He never got a txt or email saying this so we were shocked when by chance he just checked his status. His EAD not his travel documentation have yet to be updated :/ Should we be worried???!

So almost like our situation. It just changed to testing and interview on the website today. I hope for an interview date soon. You shouldn't be worrier about the Ead/ap because you don't need it once you get your greencard. Whatever comes first. Wish you the best!!

  15. I'm doing a little dance over here. Don't mind me! Finally there's an update on our cases on uscis.gov website. Since we mailed them in, and got the NOA1's, there hasn't been anything going on online 07/03. But today, the I-485 was moved to "Testing and Interview". I had the biometrics on Thursday, so I thought it would be the I-765 that would move first. But who cares -- as long as there's still no RFE's and there's activity online, I'm happy. Remember, we never got any texts/emails even though we signed up for it.

Now, fingers crossed that our interview isn't scheduled for a date when I'm traveling to Cali to see my family for the first time in 2.5 years. Anyone know what I should do in that case?

  16. Wow, you were lucky. I had unpleasant experience in Kendall, Miami. And it took about 15 minutes to get my fingerprints done since they were not match for a few times and the lady had to redo again before they were finally match. I liked though my picture after she took it, lol. Much better than at the pharmacy passport photo booth for my AoS package.

Oh no, dont let me start with the picture. She kept telling me to put my hair behind my ears, and that's the ONE way I HATE my hair. I tried to let it slowly fall, but she caught it. I look like a dork in my picture - but she said: Don't worry, noone will see. Ummm, hello, this is gonna be on my greencard. Alot of people will see! :(

  17. For the first time ever ###### has gone fast!! Sent in our paperwork for our new green cards in may. According to uscis website it would be a long wait as usual. But we got the cards last week, the whole thing took 2 months. So now I guess we could relax for 10 years before we have to deal with uscis again...or not! We will file for citizenship next year and then we will be over and done with this forever!

Anyone else going to apply for citizenship when that time comes?

See - I'm a lot further behind, but I already know that I'll apply for citizenship on the dot. Before Denmark approved dual citizenships I was hesitant. I didn't wanna give up my danish, but I didn't feel right not applying for the American as I believe I'll spent most of my life here.

Now that Denmark is finally losing up - I know by three years I'll be applying. And I'm happy, because I really like to be able to care for my mother here - and not put her in a home in Denmark when time comes.
