  1. Hi,

My situation is just a little different. I am in Algeria at the moment staying with my fiance's family and my fiance' waiting for the K1 interview. Which is Nov 20, next Thurs.

My last three tax returns state I made over $49,000 , $55,000, and last year $65,000. Also this year I sold two house that I owned out right, so I have quite a lot of money in the bank. Yet my income is very low as far as a monthly income from a pension. So if you just look at my pension income it is not enough. But if you take what I have in the bank and they take their percentage, I make about $48,000 a year. Does that make sense?

What I see as a problem is I did not read the I 134 well enough and it states as you have all said already I need a statement from an officer of the bank. I did download my bank accounts, and showed my monthly pension auto deposit, I show when I opened my accounts and the year of deposits. But it is not from an officer of the bank. I wrote to my bank and they just said it would take 15 working days. See the problem? I am in Algeria...dahhhhhh

I will call them and see if they can get creative! Does it sound like this is going to be a problem if I have the tax returns, W 2 s and bank statements that I printed out?

    Thanks for your help!

Ok it is Nov 15th 2014 here in Algeria. I am staying with my fiance' family getting ready for the interview for a K1 visa. The interview is on Thurs Nov 20th. His physical is on MOnday. I have the 3 years tax returns and w2s and downloaded my bank statements to show my balance and transactions for 1 year!

I am freaking out! I thought I had everything I needed for my fiance' to go to the interview.

    Question

I downloaded and printed out my statements for the past year of my bank accounts. But now, looking at the instructions better ( don't know how I missed this) it says "an officer of the bank" needs to make a statement about of when the accounts were opened, deposits for the year and current balance.

I wrote to my bank and they have already responded saying it would take 15 working days to get that statement to me. So any advice?

Help all you wonderful people out there!

    LoveHamzahra!!

I wrote to my bank just now but the best they can do is write up a statement and email it to me at this late date. Will that be good enough? I have no debt, I own my car, no medical bills, yet I am using what I have in the bank for the percentage of assets which is more than enough for the required support.

Help all your wonderful people out there!

  4. I understand your fiancee' has her visa now all approved with the right stamp? I am hoping that is the case and you have a date when she will be in America and you can start a life with her. What a dream come true! You have been thru the ringer that is for sure! All the sweeter when you wake up every morning knowing she is yours to hold from now on!! Thank GOD!!!

Our interview is Thurs! I am also 29 years older than my fiance' , we are both Muslims, having the interview in Algiers. I think it is safe to say, a man marry a younger woman is more tolerated that a younger man and older woman. Yet our story goes back for 7 years. I stay with him and is family in his family home when I am here and I have been coming to visit him since 2008. I was here twice in 2008, then 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. I am actually here now and have been here since Ramadan. We are praying that I will be able to go inside the Embassy and participate in the interview. If ever this was a true love story, this is it!!

We have read your comprehensive story many times. We have practiced answering as your sweet fiancee' did and we have been even more diligent because of your courage and preparation! Thank you and may God bless you for your efforts to help us all that still have to go thru the interview process!!

    You are an inspiration!!

    Love Hamzahra!!

  5. So truly happy for you both! I hope you are happy and thrive in America.

Our interview for a K1 visa is this next Thursday in Algiers. I pray they have soften hearts, have a good morning, a wonderful cup of coffee, with agreeable cases ahead of us and they loved our i 129 packet so when we get in there they will ask us 3 questions, it will take 5 minutes and they will say WELCOME TO AMERICA!! Ameen! Inchallah lol From my mouth to God's ears! So my Grandmother used to say!!

If you have extra time say a prayer for us!

Our story is 7 years long! I have been living with his family off and on from 2008. I was here twice in 2008. 1 month the first time, 3 months the second time. I participated in Ramadan with them. Then 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and twice 2014, (I am here at this very moment, Ramadan and L'Eid with them) sometimes I stay for 3 months, and other times I have been here for 6 months at a time! If ever there was a bona fide relationship, this one it IT!! Now when someone asked me if I am on vacation in Africa. I say I have a life in Algeria and the States. It is no longer a vacation. I am loved and love this family and my Algerian Sweetheart!

I am sure all of us in love with an Algerian never thought in a thousand years this would be our story! I have never met a more loving, kind, loyal, passionate person in my whole life. I am grateful to Algeria and his parents for molding this person to be the good man that he is and hope and pray he will be in my life to love as Allah wants for now and hopefully jenna!

Thursday Nov 20th is the day!

If any of you have some last minute wisdom to pass on to us! We would so appreciate it!

    Love Hamzahra!!

  6. Your post did exactly what you wanted, to give those of us in the K1 process hope! Never surrender never give up! lol Our interview date was set today for Nov 20 in Algiers, Algeria. I have been living with the family of my fiance' since July. If everything works out like it did for you, we could be home in Dec! Sigh sigh sigh It feels like we have been working on this forever! I am truly happy for you and your new wife!!! Thank you for that sweet post! We all need to hang on to the successes so we can keep on going! It is not over till it is over!!

  7. First of all Congratulations! I have tears in my eyes for the good news at the end of that interview from hell! I am here in Algeria staying with the family of my fiance'. We have our K1 interview November 20th. I am so grateful for the effort and time you put into this lengthy explanation of each question and the thoughts behind them.

Of course we were going to practice the questions they have on VJ but now we will be more diligent and also take more pictures!

Thank you so much for your big story! Bless your hearts! I hope you will be so happy when you are finally married! You have helped us so much!

    Sincerely

  8. My husband had his visa interview on June 24. The visa was approved, and it's now listed as "Issued" on the CEAC website.

The consular officer told him that he would have it in 5 days. I'm assuming that this means 5 business days, but we're confused about what that means in Algeria. Is Sunday a business day there for UPS purposes? Is Friday? Usually, in Algeria, Fridays are not business days. Sundays usually are, for most businesses. On the receipt, there is a box for saturday delivery, but it's not checked, so I'm assuming Saturdays aren't counted in the 5 days.

The waybill/receipt that the consular officer gave him has ONLY his telephone number on it. He assumed that because I am familiar with UPS, I'd know what to expect, but I've never seen anything like that. He thinks they're going to call him and make him come pick it up somewhere.

So - if anyone out there has any ideas on when I should expect him to receive / and how, I'd love some insight. I'm just wondering how long to wait before he should contact UPS there.

Also, a lot of the flights that we have been looking at have huge layovers in Qatar or Jordan. I'm assuming his transit visa won't allow him to go to a hotel and sleep, even with a 15 hour layover. So, we're probably going to opt for a more direct flight. However, it's Ramadan, and he's going to be flying west with the sun, so it's going to be a loooooong day. Anyone else ever travel on Ramadan? Any advice on getting enough hydration to make a plane trip like that?

    Thanks!

Hi I just arrived from Portland on Jet Blue then Turkish Air. I got a one way ticket for $1100.00 It flew from PDX to Boston, where I had a 5 hour layover then to Istanbul, 6 hour layover, then 3 hours I believe to Algiers. So you would just go backwards. Good Luck!
