  1. Approved! =D

Interview was pretty straight forward. We didn't have to wait that long to be called in.

Aside from the standard questions that they ask, and standard oath taking, there were no questions that were asked differently. The interview took about 30 minutes, only because we had to explain our 'story' a bit more detail than normal since we're both pretty young and the IO had a decent amount of questions regarding our relationship timeline.

i-485 is now in Decision and I-130 is in Post Decision Activity

  2. I keep forgetting to update this because I haven't been receiving my text/email updates from USCIS :/

Anyway, we received the EAD card about a week or so ago =D.

Our interview is on September 4th as well, @kcros. We're going to start gathering up all the paperwork and evidence to bring to the interview. I'm not what they'll specifically ask for. I'll let you guys know how it goes afterwards

  3. To my understanding, once you get to "testing and interview" you are in the process of getting your interview scheduled. By the way I never received any email/txt about the new status but got the interview letter about 5 weeks later once my status (approx) changed.

As far as RFE for not submitting original, USCIS will never require you to send any original into them. You are required to bring originals to your interview but never via mail.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the info!

By original, i mean a copy of the original, non-translated version of the intending immigrants birth certificate. We only sent in the translated BC, and not the non-translated one, but now that I've looked into a bit more, it seems like we needed to send the original as well, as people have been getting RFEs for not doing so

  4. Looking at the May filers time line, it looks like the normal lag time between the T&I stage, and interview scheduling is anywhere from one to three weeks. I received a text that my case was moved to T&I two weeks ago, and I am still waiting for an interview date. Supposedly the lag is based on how busy your field office is. Good luck, and I hope we both get interview dates soon.

I have previously asked a question about whether or not to expect an RFE after moving to the T&I stage, and the answer was to expect an RFE at any time.

Thanks! Whew I thought they just suddenly stopped giving me notifications too

  5. Apparently there's a different between Testing & Interview stage vs. Testing & Interview scheduling stage? Has anyone experienced the change between the two? We're currently in the scheduling stage and are wondering if we still might get an RFE before our interview is scheduled. Or do they keep you in the Initial Review stage until all the RFEs have been settled?

  6. Hi guys!

I was wondering if anyone might know the answer to this:

We sent in our concurrent filing, and have already completed the Biometrics at the appointment date they assigned. Our I-485 Status has also been moved to 'Testing & Interview', but we haven't received an email or text notice that the status has been changed, nor have we received our interview date.

Is it still possible that we may receive an RFE? We only sent in the intending immigrant's translated birth certificate, and not a copy of the original, non-translated one. According to some research on visajourney, it seems like people have been getting an RFE for not submitting the original, non-translated version as well as the translated version of the Birth Certificate.

    Thank you!

  7. Biometrics done! The place was practically empty and I'm sure we could've done a successful walk-in earlier. But I just had major surgery two weeks ago and wasn't up for the long car ride only to possibly be turned away.

The officer who took his biometrics was very friendly and I could tell she thought we were a cute couple. I hope our interviewing officer is like her!

After getting that done, we returned home to a RFE. Since the instructions didn't specify to send my husband's Arabic birth certificate, we only sent the translated (certified) copy. Whoops. Easily remedied mistake, although I hope it doesn't set us back too much.

Exciting to see so many people moving on to the testing and interview stage!

they wanted both the original and the translated copy? That's weird, I always thought they just wanted the translated one

  8. I'm new here so I won't attempt to answer all the questions. But, for number 4 - the visa journey and actual form instructions differ RE: copies vs. certified copies. I personally went with the instructions from the uscis website.

For number 6, the IRS website has the ability to download tax transcripts, I'd suggest using that method.

Thank you! I did what you said regarding the transcripts and I was able to access all of them!

  9. Hello everyone! My wife (beneficiary) and I (USC) are in the process of putting together our I-130 and -485 packets. I looked through the many useful topics and posts on visajourney in regards to my questions, but was wondering if I could get some help and confirmation through here, just to be thorough! Any help and suggestions would be super helpful!

    1. For my (the USC) G-325a, the box to enter the 'File Number' or A#, what should go there? I am a US Citizen through my Mom's naturalization. She became a US Citizen through naturalization when I was a child. I'm not sure if I personally have my A# or where I could find that. Would it be OK to just put 'N/A'? If not, what would be the best way of obtaining that A#.

    2. For both packets, would it suffice to just have the copy of the petitioner's US Passport instead of Birth Certificate?

    3. for the I-864, I only started working full time last year July 2013 right after I graduated from college. So my Tax Return and W-2s that I'm attaching with the I-864 only show income for half a year's worth of my salary. Would this be OK? Or would it bring up problems? Would it help if I attach a few paystubs from this year also?

    4. I see on the I-130 checklist instruction page on VisaJourney which documents need to be official and which need to be copys. But just to double check, would a copy of our marriage certificate suffice? Or do we need to send in two individual, certified copies--one for each packet?

    5. My wife has an EAD card already through her F1 OPT program. However, the card does not specify an A#. Would she have an A# already since she went through this program? Or should we leave it as 'N/A'? Also, would be need to fill out the I-765 for her to renew her EAD card? Her program ends June 20th, and we need her to continue working at her job while we go through the AOS process.

THANK YOU in advance for those who reply. And sorry for all the various questions, we just want to be thorough and don't want to mess this up.
