  1. We've been waiting patiently since our 4/17 NOA2 for NVC to receive our case, calling and emailing them regularly. This morning I got an email saying they had received it and was ecstatic! I just called, though, and the woman (who had apparently not had her 'be nice to callers' coffee yet this morning) told me the email only meant it was there but not that it was in her computer. She said it takes another 2-4 weeks to get entered into the system for me to get the alien number and eventually tracking information. If this the case for all visas? I thought K visas went in and out of there so fast they didn't bother putting them in the system?

I need to talk to someone before it leaves NVC because I want to see about transferring it to another consulate. If I should call back and get someone friendlier, someone tell me.

  2. I'm really surprised more VJ-er's are supporting the opposite side. I haven't read all of the pages in this thread, nor have I watched every news piece explaining the issues. I'm going through the legal process, as we all are, to marry a Canadian nonetheless, so I suppose this really doesn't affect me directly.

I just hurt for these families because I can understand the temptation to skip the process. The way things are going for me, it looks like it will be 9 months total before Adam gets his visa. We've been together two years, and only physically together a total of two months. Its hard, we all know that.

I have left work early today, and I won't be shopping. It isn't to intimidate our government by showing them what harm this could do to our economy, but a small amount of understanding for the families this will effect. I really wish all of the time, resources, and emotion being paid to addressing illegal immigrants was being given to reforming our system. Perhaps if the system wasn't as complicated and long as it is, so many people would avoid it.

Yes, I realize many people may skip the paperwork because they wouldn't be approved - due to criminal history etc. I don't know those statistics. I just wish there was more effort to help us, the people going by the book, and less attention on a long-existing problem we're never going to rightfully correct.

I respect all of you that were so deeply touched by this issue, whichever side you fall on.

  3. It took 2 weeks for it to go between NVC and the embassy. It took another week for it to reach us after the embassy got it. It about two months for us to get the interview after that was sent in. It probably would have been longer but we got our case transferred to Vancouver and got an interview date right away. You're probably looking at 3 months minimum before the interview. Good luck and be patient!

Driehuis posted this the other day that he saved time by transferring his case to Vancouver. I'd be worried about the possibility of the packets being lost, and I assume there's time added for Vancouver to review the file, but has anyone else researched doing this? Does it require extreme circumstances? How far out is Vancouver scheduling interviews for?

I can't even put it into words yet. YAY!!

  5. I know there are other threads on this, and I just don't get it. I signed up to receive automatic updates on my case at https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp. According to that site (https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=Texas), TSC is NOT processing I129-F's, and I don't see a date of 2/15/06 anywhere. CSC (https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=California) is showing they are on 11/03/05, but it hasn't been updated since 02/08/06.

I can't get the page you all were using to show 02/15/06 for TCS to open properly, and I don't know whay two sites would have differing information. The site I am using is THE SITE TO USE, isn't it?

    Clarification, PLEASE!

  6. Thank you, everyone. If I had the time this afternoon, I would have eventually come to the same conclusion about that site, but I just didn't and my fiance was making me panic. It's so nice to know that there's a group of people going through what we are that can answer questions like these, when I just can't find the answer myself. This site is invaluable.

  7. No, you don't have to have known each other for two years, you simply need to have met in person in the last two years. That is what it means.

Thanks for the quick response! I know we must have met in person, but this clearly says must be together for over two years. I'm not saying the information is right, I hope someone says otherwise, but I'm sure it's not referring to meeting.

  8. Ok, I haven't done an extensive search to verify this because I'm at work, and I hoped one of you could answer this immediately. My fiance found a site (https://www.immigration-bureau.org/fiance_visa.htm) that states "Strict qualification apply to the K-1 Fiancé Visa. Both parties must be single, over the legal age, and have an intend to get married. The couple must be together for over two years. " Is this accurate??? I'm not even sure the site is government, since it ends in .org. I only have a few minutes here. No one has asked us yet, but we've been a couple for a year and a half, or so.
