  1. So my wife and I had our AOS interview this morning at 8am... and we were approved within 12 minutes!!

So I thought I would share our experience, I came here on the VWP and before I was about to leave she asked me to marry her and i said yes (I gave up a lot back home to do this) so we sent in all the forms in June and we had our interview today, i got my EAD card within 90 days of sending in the application. We did the forms all by ourselves, no help from an attorney. If you concentrate and take your time and read each question you can't get it wrong. All the information you need is on the USCIS website and its pretty straight forward.

So we went to our interview this morning, we arrived about 20 minutes before. I was hobbling because I was injured at soccer last night so i can hardly walk. The officers at the front desk were lovely about it and they were really patient about me getting my shoes back on!

We went upstairs and we were called in about 30 minutes after our appointment time. The immigration officer called us in and it took me a while to walk to her office but she was so lovely about it :clock:

We got in her office and she had us swear to tell the truth etc etc and we did of course! She then went through the questions on the i-485 but she would ask my wife randomly my date of birth, and my parents names etc completely out of the blue, it was funny because my wife froze when she asked my mums name even though she is so close with my family! she then asked how we met and how we got to today, she didn't want exact date just roughly. She then asked us what we had brought with us, we had a joint lease which she kept, she also kept our bank statements. She didn't look at anything and we had this huge file of stuff! As she was looking through our pictures she closed the file half way through and out of nowhere said "your green card will arrive within 2 weeks" we couldn't believe it!!!!

If your relationship is real and honest you have nothing to worry about :)

I will say one more thing, if you want advice and help don't reach out to people on here, the majority of people are so quick to judge and come back with some unhelpful reply that just stresses you out. Use the USCIS website or send me a message, we did this all by ourselves, we had no RFE or anything it was all so smooth.

    Thank you and GOOD LUCK

  2. So i posted not too long ago but I wanted to post again seeing as though its only 4 DAYS until our interview!! we have put a huge binder full of stuff together including:

    -Joint lease

    -Joint phone bill

-Our call logs from the past 5 months

    -Joint bank account information

    -Joint gym membership

-Our puppies AKC papers showing he is registered to both of us :)

    -Joint costco information

-A few letters from family members

-Hundreds of photos and birthday/christmas cards

Is there anything else we should take? We don't have joint car or health insurance or a credit card.

PS please don't reply if you don't have anything nice or helpful to say! Thank you :)

  3. It took 7 long months of patiently waiting but we finally have our interview on the 11nd of January! as far as evidence goes we have

    Joint lease on our apartment

    Joint gas and electric bills

    Joint bank account

Proof that my wages go into her account bi-weekly

    Joint cell phone bills

We also have the AKC papers for our puppy in both our names

Hundreds of pictures and cards from my family and her family

Is there anything else that would be good to take?

    Thank you

  4. I just have a quick question I'm hoping someone could help me with …

We have sent in our i-130 and i-485 and about a month ago we received an email saying that we are in Testing and Interview, but I need to travel back to the UK in January 2015 for a court case and as does my USC partner to give evidence. I was wondering wether I should just wait and see if we get the interview in the next month as its almost been 5 months since we sent in the applications, or wether I should apply for Advanced Parole.

    Thank you

    Any advice is welcome

  5. I had no intentions of immigrating to America, I loved my life in the uk - just not as much as I love my partner, so I had to say yes when I was proposed to, I have a lot I'm going to have to miss, important things.

My partner received an NOA this morning via email. I'm just waiting for mine :)

Although your question has been answered, would it be too much to ask for a bit more of a back story about why and how you think you are able to adjust your status? Did you decide to marry and stay when you came into the US?
