  1. Hm. Working in the finance field and a warm climate, don't always go together in the US! California and maybe North Carolina would be your best bets for that combination, I think.

I am not sure somewhere that you have a friend is necessarily the best reason to move somewhere to be honest. It may help you settle in but if nothing else in the area really suits you then it doesn't really seem to work. Maybe do a bit of research into where you can find the kind of jobs you want and climate as these seem important.

Actually i don't work in finance industry itself, i work as finance professional (i.e Finance Manager, Management Accountant..etc)

Do u think it will be difficult to find job in Florida?? .... California everyone told me it's the most expensive state ....

Today some one suggested Texas as it's big and cheap .... It's really confusing....

  2. Agree,

you can refer to "Country Reciprocity" for your country:

    Marriage Certificates

Available. Foreigners of the same religious denomination (all Christians are considered of the same denomination) and same nationality may receive their certificates from the ecclesiastical authority performing the marriage, without regard to the local authorities. Egyptians and all other couples having different religious denominations must apply to the Office of the Shahr el Akari, 14 Sharia Mahdy, Exbekieh, Cairo for a marriage certificate, either by mail or personally.

    http://www.travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/EG.html

Ok if you submitted that early you should be scheduled.

No, the marriage contract is not sufficient, all that does is show that you have a legal marriage. They will want to know that the marriage is the result of a genuine relationship, not that for example someone paid you to get married so they could get a green card. So photos of you two over time, of the wedding ceremony, with each other's families, phone and email records etc, anything that shows there is a genuine relationship. If the marriage is for the sole purpose of your wife to get a green card it is considered immigration fraud and you will be denied a visa, and possibly be banned from entry into the US.

  3. Dear,

I'm awaiting ( :clock: ) my interview in Riyadh on 19th of this month, we are 3 me and my wife and one baby boy, my wife is the principle applicant, have some questions and I believe that I will find the useful info here as always:

1- If they ask about bank statement at the interview, is it requested from all, my wife also or if I take only mine enough (I can show 10K $ for each of us) in case they request it !!

2- If every thing goes fine and all the documents were enough (I hope so :huh2: ), then how much time the process usually take to get the passports back to us including the visa  !!

3- at the Travel.state.gov web site they mentioned that the visa expiry date may be less than 6 months in case the medical test expire before the 6 months, but since every body do the medical test prior to the interview (I did it before almost 1 month); does that mean every body get less than 6 months to travel ??

Thank you guys I really appreciate the efforts here by everybody specially Susie, I got all the help all the way from the beginning of my visa journey at this site (F)

Include all your assets in summery sheet like i did:

    1. Banks statements for me & my wife

    2. i had loan instalment so i had submitted them the balance for loan by requesting liability letter from the bank

    3. Any investments like retirement plan

    4. vehicle - purchase and sale amount

    5. any receivables which can be documented like your gratuity from leaving your current job.

  4. Congratulations!

Where are you planning to settle in the US?

    Congrat!

Yes, eager to know as well where are you planning to settle in State and what would be your criteria for choosing..

    Thanks to all,

Actually, i'm planning to enter US on Jan 15 through NY and comeback to UAE to clear the things to settle during June-15.

The state i haven't decided yet, but usually i prefer a state where i've a friend to help me through the settlement. I've got friends in UTAH, Florida, Washington and W. Virginia.

My wife prefer warm states as she has lived her entire life in Dubai, so we might go to Orlando or Miami in Florida.

Also one more criteria is to have an area where i can complete my MBA studies and work in finance field ....

What do you think any advise?

Congrats this is great ))) hope my interview will be smooth as yours ;)

    I hope too...

  5. Hello,

Today we had our interview, As illustrated earlier COs are so friendly and almost they seemed that they had the decision from studying your documents before they meet u.

He has asked us about our baby (how old is she ?) -as he doesn't know from the application- ?!?!?

    when we've got married?

how much do we have savings ?

About my current job and experience...

Lucky we're informed that our visa is approved and to collect the passport on Thursday.

Thanks for this forum and specially active members like "SussieQQQ".....

If u need any more clarifications please let me know...

    Good luck to all....

  6. Thanks a lot for the informations given specially my interview at AbuDhabi next month. But i wonder about the security requirements because i have 5 months baby and we need to enter nursing bag for her.. does anyone knows if they'll permit it?

  7. Yes you can enter to activate, then go back. Expect some questions as you will have been out longer than 6 months, but they are lenient on this originally as they realIse people often have things to finish up etc. Don't volunteer any information to the immigration officer. Answer his questions truthfully but as briefly as you can.

Yes, you will be liable for tax on those earnings, but hopefully the place you are in has a tax treaty with the US so you are not double taxed. (Do NOT declare yourself non resident for that period to avoid paying tax as that will be taken as you abandoning reidency and you will lose your green card.)

I'm not clear what you mean about your wife. Are you also going to get her a DV visa? Then she also needs to enter before the visa expires and be back within a year of that. (If you don't plan on getting her a DV visa for whatever reason, it will be a much longer and more expensive process to sponsor her as wife of an LPR under F2A category.) Be aware that returning to work elsewhere does not get you great kudos from CBP officials, rather it gets you lectures about residency requirements. Just be careful.

My wife is going to apply with me for DV visa, but what i'm thinking that i need sometime to clear the things here in UAE plus i can save more money from my current job. Also my wife she has to complete her master studies over here and her job contact will continue till end of the year.

Do u think i shall share this plan with the immigration officer ?

  8. Hello,

    What about my case:

My interview on November, If i get the visa i'm planning to travel on Jan to apply for LPR. then i'll comeback to UAE (where i live) to complete my contract on Aug -Sep.

-So do u think it works - since it's less than 1 year ??

-and can i tell the immigration officer about this plan??

    - and Shall i pay tax for these 6 months i worked overseas??

    - What about my wife, can she stays more till it settle and get a job?? (because she's working already in UAE)

  9. Not sure about translation in your country but usually any certified translator is fine.

Look at the US poverty guidelines to get an idea of how much you need to show - for a single adult, around $10000. Any assets you can show will be taken into account, so I guess if you will get a cash package on leaving that will count.

I134 is the one used for DV. Your sponsor needs to fill it in and sign it, and send it (along with the supporting documents as per the instructions for it) to you for you to present at your interview.

    Thanks a lot Susie,

  10. Hello,

My interview scheduled next NOV. Now i'm trying to collect my documents but i need some clarifications about the interview & documents:

    1. Where i shall translate my documents - any approved legal translate office will be okay?

    2. Without Affidavit of Support, How much i should provide cash in my bank account? and does a letter from my company shows my end of service benefits will be considered?

    3. If i could arrange Affidavit of Suppor, Should i go for I- 864 or I-134? And how & where to file the form.

    Thanks

  11. This page has an email address http://abudhabi.usembassy.gov/mobile//diversityvisas.html , perhaps it is best to contact them directly and ask them. I say this because : the pdf you link to above does talk about evidence of support and affidavits of support/employment letters, but it is also clear from the wording that that PDF is aimed at general immigrants and not diversity ones. So I think best to contact them and be sure what you need.

By the way: an embassy should not refuse you outright if you cannot provide an affidavit of support at the interview. What they should do is issue you a 221g (I think it is) "refusal", which isn't a real refusal in that it just means they require submission of a document - in this case it would be the I134 - before they will issue the visa.

Caveat that all the above is general and I have no specific knowledge of how it works at this embassy.

So if someone couldn't provide sponsor "petitioner" he wouldn't be accepted.???!!

  12. Guys, this is why you must be sure to read the instructions, including all the country specific information. If the list of things that Abu Dhabi requires is different from the standard list, it should be there somewhere. There are a few embassies that require an affidavit of support (I134) from a US resident. There are others who may ask for one if they are not satisfied the applicant has shown that they will not become a public charge.

    check out this arabic forums,

this guy had an interview in abudhabi embassy and they denied his visa because he didnt have Petitioner

    https://dvd4arab.maktoob.com/f1057/3705341-155.html#post1088779390

there is more cases .. in that website

The instruction of Abu Dhabi doesn't state that i've to get petitioner form I134, you've only to provide name and address for the person you're going to reside with.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/ABD%20-%20Abu%20Dhabi.pdf

Can you show me where it's required officiation petitioner ???

  13. by the way the embassy in Abu Dhabi will ask you for a petitioner in USA, like a sponsor

there is a forms you have to provide in the interview like ( I-134, I-864 and W-2 ) those all will be signed by your petitioner and stamped by US departments

so check for any a friend over there, look in the internet for someone from your hometown or something ..

by the way where are you from ?

Petitioner??? No one says that ??? from where did u get this information?

    I'm from Syria....

  14. Hi leena,

Actually both questions are confusing whether we should put our answer as of now (our current condition), or the future.....

you can see many discussion held about these issues .... some of them says that you shouldn't show any intend that you're welling to do anything prohibited by US government (i.e working without permits, intending going to US without vaccination ....)

Others says you put YES as you're going to take the vaccinations eventually or you'll getting the work license is something everybody with green visa does...

    STILL CONFUSED!!!!!

    ME TOO

    regards

    Mohamed

  15. i filled most of it .. waiting for my wife to complete her from

about your doubts, you should have a friend or relative permanent address, anf if you dont, google it, you will find some instructions on how to find a permanent address, like i heared you can rent a P O BOX.

for the Vaccinations, answer No, and mention that you will take it prior to your interview.

Wish you All the Best .. Your case number will be probably in October .. Good Luck

Thanks for the advise, others on the forum advised to put hotel address that we can change later after getting the visa.

  16. Yes I understand that. but answering a question "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?" needs to be taken literally. Does he have that, NO! Will he have the medical and get the jabs - of course!

I think you're right.... i should answer NO and mention that i'll take them before interview at the approved physican

  17. Hello everyone,

In security questions, what shall we reply for the following:

Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law? Yes/ No

I didn't do any vaccination yet, but i will when i'm going to do the medical. So my shall answer be YES as i'm going to take them at the time of medical tests ??? or NO

    Please help.
