  1. What's wrong with that?!!! AND I am thinking about it with him! I love his mum. What the hell is wrong with that? GEEZE, some people are SO RUDE on here. It's his MOTHER and I consider her my MOTHER TOO. Don't even comment if you have something RUDE to say, FOR REAL. Getting so fed up

I agree with you 100%:thumbs::thumbs: I mean, this is an immigration forum, that's what we're all doing here, immigrating in one way or another, visiting families, moving, etc. That comment was extremely judgemental and ridiculous on so many levels, and as if it's anyone else's business when someone brings a family member to visit or immigrate........it's so annoying!!!

  2. I noticed that you were in line for interview a couple of days after the fingerprints, but that's not the case for the July filers. I also checked June filers and most received in line notifications a couple of days after the fingerprints. I wonder if the process has been changed and I don't think anyone from July list has received the in line notification.

A relative of mine in CA is a July filer from the Arizona lockbox and had his fingerprints on 7/17 and got his update for being inline for interview a couple of days later, so I don't think the process has changed.....

    good luck everyone :star:

  3. he's DOING DV lottery so that mean she or he don't need that now till he got here, and the DV lottery is easy without any stress or waiting time, they decide whats right for them.... thx for advice

Thank u Aswanco, you understand us :star: My income is more than sufficient, and we would love to married already, but for different reasons, we are not getting married just yet, but will be married as soon as possible Insha'Allah. You are very right about DV lottery being easier than K-1 or CR-1, no stress of CO denying you for not believing you have bona fide relationship (yes, we have one), and I've (successfully) been through CR-1 before and that stress is very different from a DV lottery.

Anyway, I know this doesn't make sense to a lot of people, but it's the best choice for us right now.

    Best to everyone :D

  4. I would HOPE they don't base their choices on who gets a Visa by not speaking English well, but I think we can see that those who don't speak English well make it here because I can't understand a lot of foreigners lololol I can't even understand my OWN English!

You're totally right, I guess I'm over-thinking stuff at this point

My father's parents immigrated here before he was born and they never learned to speak English, so I've seen it first-hand!

  5. Thank you, Aswanco :star: My fiancé is working on his English, but will definitely ask for a translator. I was also thinking about insha'Allah when he travels to his POE airport (probably San Francisco), how do the immigration officers handle non-English speaking people? Insha'Allah I will be waiting at the airport for him so they can call me when he gets there if I need to help explain anything, and I've heard some people bring a letter with them in English explaining to the officer their immigration situation and that they don't speak English well.

    Congratulations on your naturalization

  6. Hi all, just a general question for anyone with experience or knowledge.

I know it's not a visa requirement to speak English fluently (or at all), but will it be a potential problem passing the interview, other than just needing an Arabic speaking translator, as long as all other DV lottery qualifications are met?

I guess I'm over-thinking that the CO might feel that someone who can't speak English very well yet will be more likely to become a public charge. Again, I know speaking English is not one of the requirements, so it can't disqualify someone, but does a CO have any discretion in these cases? I certainly hope not!!!

Thanks and good luck to all :goofy:

  7. Oh, I was just asking, not judging :D My honey is my favorite person hehe! So, I know what you mean

Oh, no problem, I don't mind talking about my first husband, we're still friends and I wouldn't trade our experience for anything. :star:

Hope you guys get the interview very soon and everything goes smoothly!!

  8. You were married to another Egyptian man? My fiance is from Alexandria :) Everyday is painful ughhhhh

Yes, I didn't plan to fall in love with an Egyptian man again (no regrets about the first one at all!!), but you love who you love, right?! I'm of MENA background as well, but Egyptians are my favorite people :D I lived in Egypt for a few months the first time and LOVED it, hopefully I'll get to go more often after we are married.

  9. I've been through CR-1 before and I have several friends from Egypt who have been through it all too, and I soooo know what your talking about the waiting, some days it's so painful!! :clock:

I'm actually getting ready to go through it again with my fiancé, and I'm not sure if it's any easier the 2nd time!! You never get used to being apart and missing someone you love.

Just know the waiting does come to an end and you WILL forget about it as soon as he's here :D

My fiancé is from the Qalubiya area, north of Cairo, is your fiancé from around there?

  10. Sounds like there's movement of some kind, somebody there has it in their hands getting ready for the next step insha'allah :star:

Maybe try to email them for an update and hopefully get a reply this week and definitely keep checking the status everyday...

wishing you guys fast moving from here!

  11. I agree... I believe God already knows if and when someone will be selected and if it will be their path or not. I feel it's up to us to have faith and belief in getting it and giving our best effort to succeed.

    best wishes to everyone :star:

  12. The chances of an Egyptian winning are 0.45% so I wouldn't do any planning until you've actually won.

Why don't you apply as well? That'll double your odds.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread!

Actually, I'm a USC and my fiancé is Egyptian, and unfortunately, we don't have the option right now of doing a K-1 or CR-1 for various reasons, so our next soonest option is the DV  .........we are saying our prayers and thinking positive!! We wish I could move to Egypt during the wait, but, in the meantime, we are trying to find out all the info we need to be prepared for him to apply for the DV this October.

    Best wishes everyone :)

  13. Hi everyone, my fiancé will be applying for the next DV this October. (God willing he is selected), then he will be using an affidavit of support since he may not have at least $10k by the time of the interview. I would think the consulate will have to look at it when he presents it to them at the interview as proof even if they don't require it, correct? He will present it during the interview, so I hope they just don't say they don't want it just because they don't require it.

  14. Sorry, I know it's frustrating waiting for a reply, but during Ramadan things can slow down. I'm not sure about the consulates, but local offices and business only work half days during Ramadan. My fiancé works in a family law court office in Qalubiya and they work from 9.30am - 1.30pm only.

    best wishes for you both....

  15. Thank you very much but that's the whole point. I can't get anything done because he wants every free minute I have lolol His phone is so ancient and can't use all those free phone apps which is fine. He doesn't do much except go to work. I am going to check out your timeline :D

Nevermind, you don't have one lol

Yep, sorry I don't have a timeline because were not sure what route we'll be taking yet for him to get here, still deciding

  16. It is Hell for two reasons lol We miss each other and I can't get anything done because he wants to be on Skype EVERY chance I am awake or not working otherwise he gets sad and upset ahhhhhhhhhh lol I just want him HEREEEE for the love of God. I can't wait to feel what you do, to forget how bad this wait is. hehe Thank you!

Hi :) Just another suggestion for easier communication while you are not at home........my fiancé and I use the app Viber on our smartphones, in fact, almost everyone in the middle east we know uses it too! It's totally

FREE calling and instant messaging just like Skype, but on your cell phone. We use it daily while we are at work or wherever, sending IMs and calling, and then we use Skype at home. It's really a lifesaver for not having to wait until we are at home to Skype. The only inconvenience is that, at least in the villages like my fiancé's in Qalubiya, sometimes the Viber connection is delayed or intermittent for a couple of hours at a time because of the frequent power outages and internet interruptions they have to deal with.

Best wishes to both of you for a fast approval :star::thumbs:

  17. Thank you for all the helpful information..........one more question about this.........I see on the DS260 under the spouse and children sections, there are boxes to check yes/no whether or not the spouse and children will immigrate with you now, or at a later date.

If the answer is "no" to both (not immigrating now or later), they should not have to appear at the interview with the principal applicant, correct? (since they are not requesting visas)

thanks again for the help on these basic questions!!
