  1. Hello all,

I've got a couple of questions/comments that I think I know the answer to, but just want some confirmation.

My wife (then fiance) arrived here in September on a K1 visa, we married in November and sent in the in the I-485 for adjustment of status along with EAD & AP applications in early January. She had her biometrics appointment in early February. So at this point we were expecting to wait about another month for the EAD & AP to be approved with the green card to follow sometime late in the summer. So we were quite surprised when the green card (conditional 2 year) arrived in the mail yesterday.

    My questions are:

1 - Is this common? After the K1 approval process in Texas dragging on for so long last year I was happily surprised to get this processed so quickly.

2 - We have not received the approval for the EAD or the AP yet. I assume that these are not necessary for her at this point as the green card serves that purpose. Is this correct?

I'm asking since my wife is very anxious to visit her ailing mother, but I don't want to jump the gun here and for her to have any problems on reentering the country after a short trip home.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. Where do you see that the USC needs any documentation from the Colombian government.

My fiance had her interview in Bogota just last month and I did not submit any immigration documentation for me. I did include a copy of my passport. But that was just as part of our proof of relationship to indicate when I had visited, and I'm not even sure that the interviewer looked at it.

The short answer is I don't think the USC needs a DAS certificate.

  3. I just got my approval.

    NOA1 on 8-15-14.

    NOA2 on 2-19-15.

    No RFE's.

I received the notification as a text at about 10:30 EST. And confirmed it by checking the USCIS site which showed the same approval.

It seems that this step is the biggest hurdle for us at TSC, so I'm hopeful that things should go smoother and quicker from here on out.

Good luck to everyone else waiting. I hope the approvals start rolling in.

  4. Hello all,

I had a little time this morning so I tried to use the data on this site to get a better idea of what the actual processing times are for those of us stuck at TSC. We all know that the June 21st date currently shown as the processing date is optimistic at best. Most of us also know that the main culprit causing these incorrect times are the many users who don't understand the difference between the Texas lock box and the actual TSC. So many filers who are actually CSC filers register as TSC filers because of the lock box and either never update their timeline, or update it as transferred. In either case their relatively quick approval times at CSC skews the TSC data.

So instead of using Igor's list I went to the K1 Visa Timelines page and sorted by what I think are the relevant details. I only looked at cases that were at TSC and were not transferred. So this should weed out most everyone confused about the Texas lock box issue. This also ignores the large group of files that actually were transferred early in the summer. But I assume if you were one of those you know it and also know your times are probably going to be faster than the rest of the TSC. Finally I broke out the data for the Philippines filers. As we know those applications are generally being processed very quickly and I didn't want that to skew the results for the rest of us. Finally I only looked at applications going back to November of last year, based on NOA1's. All of these times are based on time between NOA1 and NOA2. Ok here we go:

For NOA1's between June through September less than 6% of all applications have been approved (26 of 435). Average times vary between 30 days for September to 80 days for June.

For April and May, about 50% of the applications have been approved (57 of 109). Average times are between 90-140 days. These two months had a lot fewer applications than most other months. I'm assuming this is because a lot of these applications were the ones transferred to CSC.

For November 2013 through March 2014, more than 75% have been approved, with averages varying between 90 days (in November) to about 180 days.

The times above include applications that got RFE's. So if your application has no problems your times might be a little faster than the averages.

My take away. At this point TSC is taking about 6 months to process applications, maybe a little longer. The June 21 processing date we see should probably be more like April 15. If I were an April or May filer I would be cautiously optimistic about getting a NOA2 in the next 4-6 weeks. For the rest of us summer filers we will probably be waiting until after the New Year. And if you submitted earlier than April I would certainly be writing in to your Congressperson and Senator and anyone else you think will listen.

FYI for the Philippines filers. Nearly all of the applications from June or earlier have been approved with times of about 60 days. About 60% of July and August applications have been approved with times of 4-6 weeks.

Apparently I can't attach files to my post otherwise I'd give out the spreadsheet for others to play with. Obviously take all of this info with a grain of salt since it is only based on the relatively small sample of filers on this site. If there is anything you think I am missing or would like to see let me know and I'll see what I can do.

    -Mike
