Hello, I received DV visa in 2015 and went to the USA in early Feb 2016 for 2 weeks. I wanted to find a job in my career field in the USA, before making a move. It took a little longer than I imagined and finally I've been invited to attend the interview late February this year, for a job which I think I'm a strong candidate for.

There's an information I could find that the absence over 1 year equals abandonment of residency. Is my permanent resident status lost?

Alex, please let us know how did it go. I'm in the same boat - visa expires 18th Feb. I am planning to go for a week to Vegas in Jan, go back, and wait till May for internal transfer from work. Cheers.

Apologies, I made a typo - it's 18 February when my visa expires - that adds up to 5 months, but I did have the 'medicals' done in August so taking into account that it is indeed 6. Thank you for the replies they've been very helpful

Hello again, I received my passport with dv2015 visa 18 September and the visa has expiration date printed as 18 January - I'm getting here the time difference between these dates of 5 months, not 6, which I was convinced is the period visas are typically valid for. Anyhow, Is it possible to apply for extension/renewal of the visa if one is not able to travel to the US before dv visa expires? Thank you very much for your help.

All done. The CO asked me for bank statements/pay slips which I didn't have, but didn't make any issue out of it. If that helps anyone - if you're single and going on your own get some proof of funds. No problems with us address at mail forwarding company - just make sure you fill usps form to designate the company as your mailing agent. The interview took about 5 minutes. Thank you for your help

I literally messed up the dates and only when I went to print the interview confirmation page today evening I noticed that i had interview scheduled for today not tomorrow. I obviously will call the embassy, but is the show over or can it be rescheduled?

Because I thought that the high school diploma is enough, I didn't bring with me the elementary diploma (stupid mistake). Fortunately I explained them that since I presented them the high school diploma, it is obvious that I had completed elementary successfully.

- In that case if one has a degree, is it still necessary to bring the elementary and high school leaving cert?

Hello, I was wondering if anywhere throughout the dv form-filling process there's a question asking about family members living in the US. I went through the ds260 form and couldn't see anything. I had a family member move permanently to the US in a few months ago and so at the time of all the form filling I wouldn't had listed anyone.

Second question I have: Is it OK to use mail forwarding services as my US address where I want the GC to be sent? I didn't know anyone in the US and the ds260 wouldn't let me proceed without filling it, so I entered my US forwarding address. Now that I have a relative in America, should I contact KCC if I wished to update the ds260 US address to relative's or can I wait till the interview? Thanks very much for your help
