  1. I understand. I can brief it but still kinda long typing with my phone. Mostly, when a case is being transfered to NVC. What are the possible things that happened? I already did my interview but was given the 221g paper and they called after a while to provide some documents with my passport which i did. So its unclear seeing the case transfered back to NVC after providing the necessary documents they asked for.

  2. The NVC supervisor called my wife few days ago that case has been finally approved and completed. And that we should be getting email soon. How long does it take for them to email us? And whats the next thing we need to prepare ahead? I just want to know the next move so that myself and my wife can get ourself prepared. Hope to have a comprehensive explanation from you all. Thanks so much.

  3. Hello everyone, nvc misplaced one of the document in the IV package sent to them and even after it has been reviewed they told us to resend it. The person i spoke with said that we should 'ATTENTION' then i didnt grab the remaining words then the call dropped, i tried calling back but proved abortive. She said with that written on the envelope, we wont have to wait another 60days but the document will be treated as soon as they receive it. Has anyone had this kind of experience with them? And what was she trying to tell us to write on the envelope? Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks.

  4. Compliments of the season. pls i wanna ask this random question. My wife supposed to come here this January but due to some of her busy schedules, she might not make it again, we have not seen each other in person since last year january. Is that a problem in any way at the interview? i mean does that contribute or affect anything at the interview?

  5. I want to ask something, i filled the DS 260 on saturday but something just popped into my mind. On the page of spouse/petitioner's name which is my wife, i put her name with her new last name which is my last name but she started the whole petition with her former last name but she has since changed her last name to mine ever since and she bears the new last name in all her profile at work, insurance, bank etc. Did i make a mistake putting her new last name instead of the former one? I went back to the DS 260 this morning just to change it back to her former last name but i couldn't edit the page anymore, guess because i have submitted and completed it. What do you think please?

  6. Hello, someone said its good to add some evidences in the IV package like marriage pictures, emails, chats etc That when the applicant go for the interview, the consular must have already gone through the case file and have decided already whether to issue the visa or not. That its always good to put evidence in the IV package to convince them more. Actually, i thought all these evidences are meant for the interview. Please enlighten me more on this. Thanks

  7. Hi everyone, we did the DS 261 form online on monday and also paid the AOS fee yesterday. Whats the nex thing we need to do? Or prepare ourselve ahead to do? I saw on the immigrant visa website page that we should mail all supporting documentations. I don't understand this and pls what are the documents?

Somebody please enlighten me more on the documents we need to submit and when we should submit them?

    Thanks

  8. I spoke with NVC this morning after getting the emails that we can proceed to make the payment for the AOS fee. When i went back to the website, the AOS is not available for payment yet but the lady i spoke with said that it should be available by today or before friday that we should keep checking. How true is this please?

Also, she told me that the DS 261 will take 60days for them to review it before the IV fee can be available for payment. How true is this please? I need someone to please shed more light cos sometimes these NVC people say different thing. I thought the DS 261 is just basically how they will be contacting me. My wife and i just getting sad everyday about this long damn process.

    Hope to have comprehensive responses.

    Thanks

  9. The visa is only for you to enter the US. When you enter you will be a permanent resident. If you and your wife have been married for less than 2 years when you enter the US, you will be given a conditional green card that you will have to convert to a permanent green card by removing the conditions for your residency. You would be able to join the military if you so choose. I'm not sure if there's an age requirement, but being an LPR you would be able to join. Please read the guides on the website as they provide very useful insight on how the immigration process works and what different terms mean.

Thanks for your response. How do i remove the conditions?

  10. 1. You will be able to work, yes. You'd need to get an SSN for that if you don't have one but generally yes, this type of visa makes you a legal permanent resident so you can work

2, The visa is valid for entering for approx. 6 months (it's issued after the interview but the 6 months are counted from the date of medical exam). When it's endorsed upon first entry it acts as a temporary green card for one year

    3. Actual green card is sent to your mailing address in the US after you enter the country, time of delivery can be up to several months, for me it took approx. 2 months

Check out the VJ Wiki article on that type of visa, it may answer some of your questions.

Thanks for your response. I don't understand what you mean by the visa is valid for approx 6 months. Do i need to be renewing the green card or something? And can i join the US military with my kind of visa as an immigrant?

  11. Yes, as mentioned above, when you enter the country with your immigrant visa, you will automatically become an LPR. The little stamp they put on your visa, will serve as a GC for all intents and purposes for 1 year. You can work, get an SSN, a DL, etc. In order to receive your GC as soon as possible after entry, it is highly recommended you pay the $165 immigrant fee before you enter the US. Your timeline is incomplete so I don't know if you are CR1, or IR1. If you are a CR1, you will have to remove the conditions on your GC, in 2 years minus 90 days after your entry.

Thanks for your response. What do you mean by CR1 or IR1. My wife is the only filing for me, i am in South Korea and she is a US citizen living in the states. I want to go to the states for us to live together as a couple. And also can i join the US military with my kind of visa as an immigrant?

  12. Hello everyone, i am so confused about something and i need some good explanations please. I am on my NVC process for my immigrant visa (i130). Will i be able to work if i get to the states with the immigrant visa? How many years visa will it be? And how long does it take for me to have the green card once i get to the states? I am a bit confused.

I need some comprehensive responses please.

    Thank you.
