I didn't retake the test because I wasn't doing a renewal.  I was just doing address change and request for RealID.  For my wife, they were processing it like a renewal and was going to make her take test again, but I stopped them and said it wasn't a renewal because her license wasn't set to expire until 2021.

    Thanks,

My wife and I  just updated our California Driver License to change our address and to have the Real ID label on this driver license (This needs to be done by 2020 so you can travel within the United States).

Since you are close to Renewal, you should make an appointment with DMV to renew your license (cost 35$), this in turn should automatically set you up with the new Real ID label on your Driver license.  Make note that they may require you to retake the test.  I'm sure you've already visited this site https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/realid

If you do happen to move, you will have to make an appointment with DMV again and make a change to DL ($28) with your new address.

They do not take your old driver license, they may punch a hole in it.  They will print out a temporary paper license and your permanent license should be sent out within a few weeks.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you  for your  help, i appreciate it

do you mean the written test? ohhh i should study again i guess, did you retake  the test?

While I'm not in California, most states I believe are about the same. When you go and renew your license, they probably will take the old one and give you a temporary to carry until you receive the new one in the mail (unless they make it right there in the office for you). Also if you move afterwards, most states generallly like you to update the ID with current address but there is some time frame to do so, can vary by state.

    Thank you for  your help

I didn't receive a new card. He just asked to see my SS card because he thought it still had the DHS words on them. I told him it didn't-I had them removed once I received my green card. Although I didn't receive a new card (he just updated my status in the system), this encounter was counted towards my lifetime total, but oh well....

i see in your timeline that you received your naturalization cenrtificate 2 weeks after your oath ? how? is not the day of  oath is the same day when USCIS  they give everybody the certificate ?

    1. It's perfectly fine to be unemployed for naturalization. At your interview, just say you're unemployed or you're currently unemployed but looking for work. Either one is fine.

    2. Yes, you have to study answers to all 100 questions but interviewer will ask you 6 out of 10 questions. If you pass the first 6, interviewer will stop. You are allowed to fail up to 4 questions which means interviewer can ask up to 10. Interviewer will also ask you to read one sentence (you are allowed to fail 2 out of 3) and then you will be asked to write one sentence (again, you are allowed to fail 2 out of 3). Throughout your interview, interviewer will be testing your ability to understand and speak in English from the moment interviewer greets you. All the materials for your English writing and reading tests can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/learners/study-test/study-materials-english-test All the materials for your civics test can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/learners/study-test/study-materials-civics-test

    3. As for the question about What Does The Constitution Do?, you have to answer only one out of three. BUT I have read two different posts of people whose interviewer wanted the applicant to tell ALL answers for that question. So my two cents would be that you memorize all the answers.

I also have my interview in June like you. I have been studying from the red slides but I am having my husband ask me all the questions at random as if he was the interviewer. We practice on random days and weekends! Bonne chance! Good luck!

Thank you so much cookiecat you did great help, do you mean by: you have read a posts of people whose interviewer wanted the 3 answers do you mean Just for What does the constitution do Question  only? or the whole questions that contains more than 1 answers? i know some questions ask to name 1 , or 3 but i'm talking just about the questions that contains more than an answer and the question is open

Bon chance pour toi aussi! Good luck

  13. Hi, i will have a N400  interview soon in June , I have a few questions please:

    1. Is it OK to not be working for a long period? i was trying to get an appropriate job and i ended up wasting 1 year no job, i live with my spouse

    2. How many test i will have in my interview? i know i have to study 100 questions but what are the other tests and how can i prepare for them?

    3. For the 100 questions how i'm supposed to answer the questions like:

    What does the Constitution do?
     ▪ sets up the government
     ▪ defines the government
     ▪ protects basic rights of Americans

am required to answer  the 3 answers or 1 answer is fine?????

Thank you so much in advance for your help, i appreciate it

OP: What your husband has done is wrong if not borderline abusively insulting. How does he expect his wife, or himself for that matter to obtain healthcare? He has a responsibility to support you. Does he understand that without having health insurance he will be required to pay a penalty in taxes for the both of you? Without having insurance with his wife covered he is losing an important piece of co-mingling to use at a later date. The reasons he has provided you for not continuing the insurance are truly strange. Your options are extremely limited here: you can pay for insurance yourself out of pocket, or hopefully if you start working obtain through your work.

I don't mean to sound harsh here, but there is no unfortunately. You have rights and a choice not to be married to this man. If he won't communicate, does not care about you or your safety, and is willing to blow all his funds on frivolity instead of taking personal responsibility for his part in the marriage.... well... this does not sound like a sustainable marriage in the long term.

He dont care anymore, he is refusing to even help me to get health insurance,  he was cheating lastly I guess, and what he is doing surprising me by saving a lot of money for things that I have no idea about,  he cut off TV cable and he bought small  tv streamer , and the surprise is when he said  he don't need health insurance and if I need it I have to pay for it and he know I will just get a job. he didn't even give me a chance or few days to think  about what can I do, easily he just didn't pay for it .
