  1. A couple of months ago I was pulled over for driving my car with expired inspection sticker (oversight on my part, got it done right after). Today was my traffic court date - the fine was reduced from $30 to $20, which I paid today. There are no driving points lost and it doesn't show up on my driving record, but it might show up on court records. Is this something I should be worried about for Citizenship? I plan on applying in the next few months.

  3. Hi all,

In the process of ROC. My husband and I got married in the US in 2014. It was a civil ceremony (very small with only close family) and were issued a Marriage Certificate. I entered the US on a CR1 visa based on this wedding.

A few months later (but before I was issued my CR1), we decided we wanted to have a religious wedding ceremony in front of extended family and friends, so we had a religious ceremony in Canada followed by a reception. There we were issued a religious wedding certificate (in French).

    Question:

Should I include pictures of the event, or would that appear confusing to USCIS? I was thinking of including pictures of our religious ceremony (white dress, with family and friends, etc) as well as an explanation for this in the cover letter. I was not planning on sending the religious wedding certificate as our real legally blinding wedding was the civil one.

If I don't include pictures/explanation, I would feel as if we are withholding information as it was a pretty big event with over 120 people (over 50 people flew in from the US to attend). Also, if I do include, I feel it would show we are in a genuine relationship (combined with all other primary evidence of course).

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

  4. You have a lot of evidence, that's great!

I have a joint bank account but no activity, so I did not include it and I wrote a letter as of why we did not use it.

In your case, you have really a lot of evidences... so that's great. you can include the bank statement from the last 2 month and just say you guys had a joint account since then, that's it.

Good idea, thanks for the tip. Good luck to you!

  5. Hi all,

My husband and I are preparing for ROC on my Green Card. We have started gathering evidence, but for most of the 1.5 years since I've been here, we did not share a joint bank account. We added each other to bank accounts very late in the process, so by the time we file, we may only have 2 statements with both our names on them. We also do not have shared utility bills as they are all in my husband's name.

We do have other evidence, such as:

    - Shared credit card statements since I moved to the US

    - House deed with both our names on it

    - Mortgage paperwork with both our names on it listed as "borrowers"

    - HUD-1 paperwork for our house, showing both our names

    - Joint tax returns for 2014 and 2015

    - Joint health insurance paperwork + cards

    - Web page copy of each other listed as beneficiaries on our respective employer 401k accounts

    - Will

    - Medial power of attorney

    - 2 affidavits (his dad + friend)

    - Car insurance paperwork + cards for joint policy

    - Homeowners insurance paperwork showing joint policy

    - Costco cards

    - Service contract for home improvement listing both our names

    - Crate and Barrel receipt for dining table showing both our names as customers

    - 20 photos from vacations and with family/friends

    - Copy of our Driver's License's showing same address

    - Microchipping paperwork for our cat, listing us as co-owners of the cat

    - E-tickets (airplane and train) from 5 vacations/weekend trips taken together (2 international, 3 domestic)

    - Variety of bills in either name, showing same address (we do not have bills that list us both, unfortunately)

    - Copy of phone bills showing my cell phone line on my in-laws family Verizon plan (husband is not listed on it as he has a company cell phone line)

    - Jewelry receipt from a Christmas gift my husband got me

    - Meeting minutes from the HOA board showing that I am on the board of the community we live in

    - E-mail exchanges making plans for french lessons with his family

    - Employer profiles listing each other as emergency contacts

    - Home Security System paperwork listing both of us as contacts to call in case our alarm goes off

    - My employer life insurance information listing him as beneficiary

    - 3-4 cards from friends and family addressed to both of us

What do you guys think of our evidence? Should I still include our joint bank statements from the last 2 months, or will that appear suspicious?

    Thanks for your help!

  6. Strange. Typically issued means it's been printed. I'd take this more as a good sign.

It happens sometimes. They just do some more name checks etc. You were approved and will have the visa but I do not know how long it will take to get to you.

Thank you for both your responses. The status on the website literally JUST changed, and now says this:

Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than five (5) working days, please go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information to track your courier waybill.

I can now breathe and relax!

  7. Hey everyone,

it's been 1 week since I've been approved at the Montreal consulate. When I check on CEAC website, it says they my case is still under administrative processing.

    Here's what it says exactly:

    U.S. Department of State

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
    Issued
Immigrant Visa Case Number: XXX Case Creation Date: 23-Jun-2014 Status Updated Date: 08-Dec-2014
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. As the officer told you in the interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment.
Has anyone lee been through this? What does it mean?
  8. Hi guys,

I had my interview at the Montreal consulate 2 days ago and got APPROVED! (So happy) :dancing:

I just have quick question regarding the return of my passport and visa.

I registered for LOOMIS before my appointment, got a confirmation number and even printed out the confirmation page and brought it to my interview. However, at the interview they didn't write down my confirmation number or anything like that. Also, when I sign on to the website, it says that I didn't schedule an appointment. Not sure what all this means, but I do have a confirmation number and a pickup location, so I think that I did it right?

    Thanks!

  9. Nope, unfortunately, that happened to us as well... and cost us another 56 days until NVC reviewed the "corrected" form :protest: I think some administrator said that about 50% receive a checklist for that.

Wow that is pretty terrible! I think I'm going to file a complaint, it really is a problem on their side if it happens to so many people... Maybe it can make a difference for the people after us.

  10. Hey,

on September 12th, we received an AOS checklist with the following instruction:

Part 3 Information on the Sponsor

[x] This section is incomplete, please answer all questions completely. (If a question is not applicable, please indicate N/A in the appropriate space.)

In Part 3, Question 9 (place of residence) we did not write anything at all, we left the space blank. The form clearly asks to fill this section only if the place of residence is different from the mailing address. For us, the mailing address and place of residence are the same, so we thought it was OK to leave it blank! Apparently, we had to write "N/A" (which is not specified on the form) to that question...

Anyways, we resubmitted it the same day, but I'm curious to know if this happened to anyone else? All you guys with complete cases all wrote "N/A" to that question?

It's really upsetting, 60 more days of waiting now, for an incredibly stupid reason... :ranting:
