Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right forum but I am having issues paying the $165 for my green card application. After I filled up all the form and go to the payment option, I get the message "system or network error"
Has anyone has the same problem?
Thanks

Do they still have your passport? I have a similar case. I was put on AP after my interview. They gave me the passport back so I flew to the States for the holidays. I am back home and sent my passport to the consulate. Then my status in the CEAC changed from "Ready" to "AP".

I have been doing trips backs and forth to the States for the last 14 months with no glitch whatsoever. I have never been asked any proof that links me back to Colombia. Basic questions such as how long I will be there? who am I going to visit?. Tell her to keep it simple and just answer the questions. Be honest and she will be fine. I always carry any NVC notifications and copy of my return tickets.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.

It is not true. If you are already married, then you need to file from abroad and go through the current process for IR-1/CR-1. Adjustments of status happens if you have been in the States already, you meet someone and then get married.

Can u please provide me with the link to that forum?
Thanks
~~moved to AP and waivers from IR1/CR1 process and procedures as topic is about AP~~

White sheet. He just marked "passport" which was returned back to me and the last box that states that mi visa is in review and that I will be contacted for next steps to follow.
What I just need to know now is how long do I have to send my passport back after I have been cleared from AP.
Thanks

I had my interview today. The outcome was not the one expected. I was placed on AP with no reason given other than they will let me know after more reviewing.
Question: If after reviewing my case and the final results come back positive, how long do I have to send my passport to the consulate?
This is my situation: I have a work trip I can't change in 2 weeks for about 10 days. Once it is over, it would be Christmas which I want to spend with my husband in Seattle. I would plan to come back home 1st week in January. If my case is finally completed while I am away, do I have a grace period to send it back to consulate?
Thanks a lot of any information on this.

Don't worry, it will be in Montreal. No need to fly to UK.

As long as she is living legally in Canada, you can proceed with the case there. She doesn't have to be permanent resident. But if her Canadian case comes back negatively and she has to return to her home country before the final outcome for US immigration, then she will need to continue the process there. She will need to advise USICS or NVC of change of address.
Good luck

By personal experience, the US process will be a lot shorter, less expensive and much easier than the Canadian.

We applied for the I-130 abroad and then my partner moved to the US and I went to Colombia. My suggestion for you is to start trying to get a job in the US while the process is pending. She will able to visit you anytime. That is what I have been doing with no problems at customs. Just make sure she can prove she is has ties in Colombia (work letter, any real estate, etc) I have never been asked a single question other than why of my visit and how long I will be there.
I noticed that your city is Buenos Aires. Are you applying from Argentina? Probably by now you have realized that this process takes about 12 months or so. So very unlikely she will be able to move in February 2015.
Good luck and let me know if you have more questions.
-
You guys realize that the whole process is around 12 months or so, right? You just started and it has been only over 2 months. It's worth the wait, but you have to take it easy and wait, otherwise you won't make it. Try to visit each other. It will help you make time goes faster. That what we did.

You can read the whole process on this link http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1
It explains to you step by step what needs to be done. You are looking at an average 12 month process.
Good luck

I got CC, interview letter and interview date for Nov 24. Questions:
1- Am I supposed to get an email from the Bogota Consulate with further instructions, or just follow the information on the Travel.state.gov for the Bogota Consulate?
2- The $404 for the visa, do I pay them before the interview or on the day of.
Thanks

Actually that information is not completely accurate. She can visit you while the visa is in process regardless of the stage. I have done it myself several times with no problems at all. As a precaution, make sure she can prove at the airport she has ties back to her country. Work letter, any real state on her name, anything she can prove that she is just visiting and that she will return back to her country. As long she is truthful and honest, she shouldn't have any problems.
I have never been asked anything other that who I am going to visit and how long I will be there for. Of course, this is as long as she already has a B1/B2 visa. If she doesn't have one, then she will be denied one at the consulate.

What do you mean " I have called everyone"? Who is "everyone"? You need to be more specific and provide more detail information in order to help you.
What happens when you called NVC and gave the case number? What did they say?
-
That is way too long. It took me 4 days after CC to get an appointment. Have you called NVC?
-
I have also been in your shoes and the recommendation from Sweetopossum is spot on. Be honest, stay calm and don't say more than what you are asked. During the last year of this process I have been traveling every 4-6 weeks and stay about 3-4 weeks in Seattle with no problem. I always say I come to visit my partner and the length of time I will be there. I also carry the NVC paperwork with me in case, but I have never been asked for anything.
You will be fine. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

Called NVC this morning and after 1 hour waiting (very worthwhile) I was told I got CC. I checked https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and status had changed from PAID to N/A.
I got CC on September 29
Interview date set on October 2
Interview date November 24

Unfortunately it is taking 60 days after they receive the IV package to start reviewing the information and eventually get a cc. Then depends on the day you get cc, they will schedule your interview, which normally is another 30+ days. It is tough but hang in there.
