  1. Hi,

Apologies in advance as this may be a stupid question to some, but I just want to confirm either way.

My father-in-law is my sponsor and I was interested to know if we could simply file the one I-864 form with him as the petitioner and sponsor as I am now a family member? Or would my wife still need to be classed as petitioner with my father-in-law as a joint sponsor, therefore needing two I-864's?

In case this makes a difference, he was also the sponsor on the I-134.

    Thank you

  2. Hi,

First off, this forum has been a great help so far and I'm pleased to say that I have recently received my K-1 visa! So, a thank you to Visa Journey and it's members for all the info we've managed to find along the way!

Now, to explain our situation: we're planning on a small courthouse marriage once I have arrived and then looking to have a more substantial wedding in the future. We also decided that we would live separately for a short period of time. This is for a couple of reasons; 1) my fiancée is currently in a lease with her house-mate until the end of the year, but also because 2) due to the circumstances most of us have faced with long-distance relationships, we actually quite like the idea of having our own places for a little.

We have no real worries about moving in together whatsoever, and we are confident that it would be great! However, we do feel like we've missed out somewhat on the slightly more "conventional" side of relationships; dating, staying over at each others here and there etc. - just those little things you'd experience only if you were dating in the same country. And what with the current lease side of things, it makes sense with our situation.

So the plan is that I move over, we marry, I'll stay at her place until I am able to start work/lease a place, then towards the end of the year, once her lease is up, she will come and live with me. My question is: how is this likely to affect us? Especially with the AOS interview (should it be required - and before we do live together)?

    Thanks in advance!
