  1. Hope all are doing good....I don't post much on here...look every now and then. Was approved and got my card August 2009, am glad I never paid for the EAD at the time, now been here for a year and can't get work anywhere. Applied for hundreds of jobs...am now wondering if I need to go back to country I came from....haven't been out of work this long before and not used to it that's for sure !

Anyone else on here have problems finding work at all? I must add I don't live in a city so that isn't helping either (but in saying that have only been looking for work in Major city areas).

Oh well back to the job boards !

Sorry just needed to vent somewhere....sure something will turn up !

  3. Hi Im new to this site..

Just wondering if anyone has applied for a Fiance Visa to live in Australia...If so how long did the whole process take..

Im here in the USA just a lonely girl wanting to get to her Aussie..lol

    Thanks for any replies...

    Bella

Hi, my husband has an Aussie spousal visa which we applied for off shore in Japan. The process from start to finish took about 2 months - similar timeline as the DCF we did in Sydney for my US visa. I think the processing time depends on where your Aussie citizen fiance/husband sponsor lives. If they live in Australia they would apply for it on shore which can take longer than offshore applications.

Goonluka- I bought a one way ticket from Brisbane - Seattle thru Taipei. Paid about $1200 incl taxes and surcharges for travel last August. It was the cheapest ticket I could find, had a return ticket been cheaper I would have booked that instead.

Thanks for that Kaffy and others.........I am just going on current prices that are avalable and apologies if I came across saying I knew that a return was always a cheaper ticket............I have recently found information regarding that yes you can be lucky with a one-way ticket on special.

All I was trying to ascertain was if I bought a return ticket what could be the implications on not using the return leg of it. Am not concerned about being asked on entry to the USA cause I know they don't care what type of airline ticket I have.

    Thanks

  4. Hello all,

I received my Visa on 13th Jan and am looking at leaving here on May 8 (work commitments). Question I have for all the ones who have left Australia already is did you all buy a one-way ticket or a return?.

I have noticed is like $1,000 cheaper to buy a return ticket and hey what they going to do if you don't use it?

Anyways just curious if anyone bought a return ticket

    Thanks

Many folks I talked to who got approved got a one way tickey with refundable just in case...tons cheaper!

    HUGS ALL!

No I think you will find thats incorrect is much cheaper to buy a return ticket

  8. When and where does the Visa Payment money order go?

Do I send it in with packet 3 back to the consulate?

    OR

Do I take it with me for the interview?

Have been reading on here trying to find out and can't seem to find the direct answer, any advice would be greatly appreciated

  9. I have a question regarding DS-230I.......do you send just the first 2 pages of this back to consulate firstly without all other documentation?.....OR.....do you wait till you have all other forms etc done and send back in the one packet?

I was under impression I sent all back together.

we sent that page back ahead of time. I think if you are close to sending the rest of the info you could just probably send it all at once.

Thanks Annax.sorry I send you a message asking, and when I finished typing it came back to the forum and you had answered it here....Thanks for your help.

i had those done at my local doc too put on medicare...i wonder if you put in a claim with medicare would they pay up...

ohhh just a thought..get the medical examiner to send you a copy of your medical for your own records...it will come in handy for the doctor over here and if you want to do any volunteer work..but dont let them have your copy..

also get a photo copy of your police certificate ...

    kath

Not too sure how I will get copy of police certificate...here in NSW they send directly to Consulate.

  13. Well all cool went for medical today with Dr Waks at George St Medical Center....appointment was 9am, got to see him about 9.30am did the medical he filled in forms while asking me questions, presented my vaccinations I had done with doctor (went and had a Tetanus shot the week prior and got letter from doctor saying I had and that I was going to get another in 4 weeks, also had an ammunity test done for MMR so had the results of that with me as well). He asked if I have had chicken pox, stated I did when I was 10 and that was good enough for him.

Then did the normal medical procedures regarding medical test with the eyes throat reflexes etc.

He was really good explained things that I had to do and what he was going to send back to me, told me not to open the letter but just send it to consulate. Then directed me to the X-ray clinic and the Blood testing place told me what to expect there....siad go and get x-ray first then go to blood test while x-ray was being processed (was handy the x-ray clinic is on first floor, blood test on second floor of same builiding in Macquarie Street opposite Parliament House)

Got to X-ray clinic they told me to do the same as he had said about goign to have bloodtest while x-ray been processed, so all cool in that respect.

Got all done and was back at Dr Waks at approx 11.40am....he came out looked at x-ray in reception area and said no problems will ring when all is ready and I could go and pick up the letter etc from him.

All up ended up costing me this :-

    Dr Waks = $176

    X-ray = $60.50

    Blood Test = $43.20

    Total = $279.70

I paid cash for all of it, you can use Eftpos or credit card though.

    Rating = Not a problem

  14. Yes much appreciated Kath....as you can tell am going through the final (have I got it all right syndrome).

Hopefully will get Interview by end of January 09.....wife to be Sandi isnt sending the I-134 till Friday 12th December.....so with the xmas mail rush on I may not get before xmas....no probs, have until 4th March to get interview so should be fine.

Again appreciate the help, and by the way you are in Ohio? moving closeby to Maryland (hopefully) then to Pittsburgh.....Pennysylvania, after a few months.

  15. I have a question regarding DS-230.

Where it asks for places you have lived for over 6 months do you have to put like every suburb you have lived in Sydney? I mean I have more than will fit on the form....lol

Was thinkign maybe should just put Sydney instead of every suburb.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks
