  1. Hello!
I have doubts about something: On my AOS I had to put my "legal name" and then the name I wanted on my green card. Ok.
I got my EAD with my new name, which now has my second name as my first name, and my husband's last name. I went to get my SSN with my EAD and they said they could not issue me a SSN because my "new name" doesn't match the name on my passport. She said I needed to keep my first name.
I don't understand it. Why can't I use my second name as my first? Is not like I am inventing a name.
    Can someone help me? :)
    Thanks!

  2. Yeah. I honestly do not agree how they seem to portray that people get 90 days to decide to get married. As far as I am concerned, you should've decided this long ago seeing as you applied as someone's FIANCE(E) and you sent a letter of intent to marry. Also, they show some women working before/right after getting married without explaining if they filed for AOS, thus setting the wrong expectation that you can work whenever. And yeah, of course, the drama. The show made me roll my eyes so much that I just stopped watching all together for fear of going blind LOL

Yes, that's a big mistake. I see a lot of people tweeting "they are strangers getting married". Can we blame them for thinking like that? Is what the TV shows. 90 Day Fiance did a disservice to us. People don't understand about K-1 that much. After this show, it got much worse! We have 90 days to get everything ready, we don't have 90 days to know the other person and decide to get married. That's a big lie that they should feel ashamed of telling.

Hahaha I didn't watch the show either, just some few parts. But it was not something I was proud to watch, especially after the Skype talk I had with Jason. When we saw that, we said "OMG" because they cut the conversation to create another completely different! The editing team deserve a prize.

  3. Nope that means you will get your EAD soon. Usually takes a couple days since they send it priority mail. It's really hard to say when you will get your GC. My wife got her EAD back in November, and 8 months after filing her AOS she still does not have her GC. We got the waiver letter in January.

That is the plus about getting the EAD! At least you can start working and have a somewhat normal life...even though still waiting for the GC.

Ohhh, that's cool! So, I got my EAD in the mail today. Looks like they work fast, haha. I want to open, but my husband is not home and I want to wait for him. This is a very special moment!

So, do you think that since I got my EAD they would send me the waiver letter too? Because I don't think they would give me permission to work and not send my GC right after.I feel I will get it soon! :)

Do you think that changes something not having the GC? I think the only bad thing is that we get to carry our passport aaaaaall the time! Haha

    Thank you!

  4. Congrats on EAD & hopefully not too many more months waiting for GC.

And on a side note, it's amazing to me how little 90DF actually shows about the actual process, as opposed to drama. So many people would get a false representation of the actual Fiance Visa process if they only watched the show & never did any other research on sites like this one. I enjoyed watching you 2 though.

Thanks! I got my EAD today. They are fast! They mailed yesterday and I got it today. Jason says we have good karma, which I am starting to believe!

90DF is just sad, it is a shame for K-1 holders. They said they would tell people about how is the K-1 visa process. I didn't know of the show because we didn't have in Brazil. Jason asked me "please lets do it" and I did. I think it was a big mistake. I wish they didn't have a third season. Looks like they will.

  5. comgrats for your EAD, im applying for the AOS too and im waiting for my EAD, can you tell me please after how long you got your EAD since you submitted the paperworks for the AOS the first time, thanks

Hi, I applied the first time in October and looks like they always wanted some kind of document. Then, after we send the documents they asked for, they changed my status saying they mailed my EAD. It was a relief. At least I can start living my life and help my husband to pay the bills!

  6. We filed AOS in May 2014, and are still waiting. We got a notice of interview waiver which the letter states the wait is 6 months but it is running about 11-12 months.

Good luck to you and Jason! Enjoyed watching your story.

Wow, this process can be very complicated, right? We are tired of waiting so long. Jason and I got so happy that they mailed my EAD. I wish they could be faster!

Oh, and thanks. Looks like they will do "Where Are They Now" very soon. :)

But you know, TV... they love drama.

  7. Oh, wow, omg!

You were very patient. You got it! I am sorry you had to wait this long. But finally you are with him! I am happy for you! :D

  8. Wow... Thats unbelievable!

I think they should not have make you wait this long. Thats terrible.

In Brazil is all confused. They don't give you info you need about the exams and you have to read in sites, etc.

I am sorry for what happened to you but I am sure you will do great in the interview!

It was not meant to be my day let me tell you...

Well I got there around 9.30am (they receive until 10am, according to one person at consultorio de visa) meaning, I was supposed to be there at 6.30am but I over slept, when I was driving there I had to go back home guess what?? I forgot the passport and the letter!! so driving again in the middle of a traffic jam, i got a call from work so I had to go..

I didn't have to wait much in line to pay.., I asked about the vaccines fees and the lady told me that I will have to pay in the back, meaning, at the vaccination area....then she told me to go to door #1...x rays...I went right away, only waited one turn..and they gave me the first button (stupid thing if you ask me, they were security tops of vaccines vials of different colours)

Then they told me to sit down and wait for my name to be called, I waited like 30-40 minutes and my name was called and I went through door #2...with the doctors. The lady made me sign the form which was not filled out at that point, I asked about it and they looked at me like I am stupid..so fine I will play their game. They asked me to go to a room and take off my clothes...I mean, almost everything with no disposable gown or anything to cover my privates (haha)...well I was allowed to be in my underwear...only....... :ranting: .. she asked me questions: any surgeries? do you smoke? any tuberculosis in the family? I answered..she didn't ask me about cancer in the family nor other proper questions that I know doctors asks all the time like any other diseases or if I had chikungunya... and I had to tell her about it and about some tests I got done... the "lady doctor" was nice...I told her that I forgot the small vaccine card I have, she said talk to the vaccine doctor/ el doctor de las vacunas (yes she said that) ...second button....so I went out and sat down. and I thought well not bad idea to come here at 9.30am..I am almost done.....(10.30am)

Now here is the thing...the waiting area is like a patio of an old house...with chairs...they have this toldo and huge fans...but it was hot...today it has been hot and humid...it was too hot there...the fans?? hot air, i mean seriously...it was hot air...I was getting desperate...after one hour, I noticed that they were not calling for vaccines since I sat there...then someone said there is a problem with the system and we are fixing it....today I found out that it was the first day with a new billing system for the vaccines...eventually they said they were going to call by name to go back to the first cashier and pay for the vaccines...

    I waited....I waited....so slow...so hot....my name was not called....then I noticed that people who got there after I did got their names called...so I went and asked...(2pm)..

They told me I was not in their list...I said WHY!?!? (in my mind I yelled) then a supervisor asked me for the receipt which it says k1 visa, she said the vaccines are optional, you can get them later in the US and it was going to be cheaper than here. I said I'm ready to pay for the vaccines, and the cashier KNEW my k1 visa, she could have asked me if I wanted them or not. This is important because if you can prove you have vaccines up to date, they will refund the money same day...I told them I was ready to get the vaccines, and they kept insisting its optional, etc etc you can leave....I told them "so I was ready to leave if I wanted it to at 10.30 am and I have been sitting here for 4 hours in this heat for nothing?!" they apologized again...

It was too hot, I was all sweaty (not in a sexy way)...I was annoyed and a big headache...so I picked up the x ray cd and I left...In conclusion, it was not a medical exam in my opinion, a nurse took the x ray, the "lady doctor" just took my weight and height and asked general questions...I have been with too many doctors and they don't make the patient take off almost all the clothes for just weight/height, unless if it is really needed, and they didn't even have disposable gowns!..they exist to fill out a form and get paid for it too!

Yes, waste of time and my time....sorry for the long post.

  9. Omg, June 23? Thats great! And yeah, you were very lucky! I read about medical check... I think it is a waste of time and expensive too!!! I have no doctors in my city, so I will have to fly just to do an exam. Can you believe? Gosh, thats terrible.

I wish you good luck in your interview. Let me know later when you get it! :D

Its going, my interview its set to be jun 23, like 45 days after the consulate got my case and not 2-4 months like I heard it was going to be, so we have been really lucky.....my fiance is coming for the interview and afterwards we are going to spend the rest of the week at the beach (approved or not B-) ), looking forward for this. :dancing:

I was expecting to be approved in 5-6 months like the rest here but I was more than surprised how fast got approved. I saw in other websites that CSC was faster but when I checked the timelines here from beneficiaries from my country and CSC I was well, 5 months or more..honestly, those months would have give me time to get things ready, legal stuff here. ...instead i have being rushing things up and I feel I'm not done nor ready to leave just yet.

I just returned from the medical check up for the visa...meh. waste of time, expensive waste of time.... :clock:-_-

  10. Thank you so much!

    Congrats!

Thanks for your help! I am so excited about it... I can't believe! :)

    Thank you!!!!

Congrats on getting your NOA2 timely! Here's the K1 flowchart for your reference: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

NOA2 is Step #4 in the flowchart. Afterwhich, you will receive the NVC letter assigning your case number. The current timeframe for NVC to process your application is 2-5 weeks. But you can give them a call in about 10 business days after you received your NOA 2 hard copy: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc/nvc-contact-information.html

The NVC letter contains the case number information and likewise informing you that your files will be forwarded to the consulate where your fiancee will be interviewed. Hope anybody who went through Brazil consulate will chime in with regards to the documents you need to have for the embassy interview. It will be a good idea as well to check on the embassy website for the K1 interview requirements, as some of these documents are country-specific.

Awww yeah! I saw you got NOA2 14 days after NOA1! That was pretty fast too! Good luck! :D

Wow many congrats! That is super quick :) Good luck with NVC!

    Thaaaaanks!

    Congratulations!!

Thank you!!!! What about your case? You still waiting or you got your visa already? :)

    Congrats! That was quick.

  11. Sofialsabella, how are you?

First of all, I am really sorry some people have been waiting for months. And no... I am not doing what you said I was doing. I got happy with the good news and decided to share, so people can read and have the hope their case can be fast (or even faster) as mine. I am on VisaJourney since the application of my visa. I was not hoping it would take this fast, because I have read people can wait for months.

We are here for the same goals. People should be happy for me, as I get happy when they can achieve their goals. The world would be better if people had more love instead of hate. Is what I think.

I don't know about your case, I don't know if you are still waiting for your interview, but I truly hope you get your good news soon.

    Thank you!

    Cássia

I find it disheartening when people who get approved quickly come on here to gloat and rub everyone's nose in it - especially people who have been waiting months and months at whatever service center they're at.

  12. Hahaha

I don't know how to pronunciate certain words. Jason was here last year and my mom was making a soup. He was in the room and I said:

"My mom is making soap and you will eat" (I pronuncied like soap, but wanting to say soup)

"No way, are you kidding?", he said.

"Really, she is doing, you will like"

When he saw the plate he said: You meant SOUP!!! You said SOAP!

I was like "omg, what a shame"

Was the funniest moment while he was here in my opinion

  13. I'm glad your feeling better about it!

What we have done is arrange out co sponsor (We need one), make sure we have enough evidence of having met (Thats easy given the amount of time we have lived together!) and I've started selling all of our things ready for the move!

Make sure your evidence is telling a story, remember that they person is trying to prove that you are lying (I know this sounds harsh but it helped me find the BEST, STRONGEST evidence)

Things that are date stamped, etc.

I've also spent a lot of time thinking about how I will adjust when I get to the USA. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but the more research I am not getting a little overwhelmed, especially into USA wages, etc I've found that it will be a big change.

Depending on the work you do and the type of degree's (I don't have any) then research the line of work you want to get into. Like for me, i work in HR but don't have a formal qualification. In Australia I'm on a really good wage, but in the states because Im not 'qualified' Ill be on a third of the wage I'm on now so I've had to re think my career path.

Things like searching for houses to buy in different suburbs, picking out furniture, looking at the websites for shops, etc is so much fun for me (Even though its a bit of a dream and won't happen for a long time!!) It just reminds me why we are doing this, how things will be.

So basically now all you have to do is sit back and wait it out!!! We don't think we will hear from the NVC for at least 30 more days so Im just going about my normal routine. Although the NOA2 might come quick it seems like there is a lot more waiting before the interview and at the NVC. Im worried something will go wrong, so far so good though!!

Aw yeah, he told me about the co sponsor. He found one. The evidence of having met we have too. Emails, pictures, cards, some prints of Skype talks... I bet that moving is a BIG change. But I believe everything will work out for you and for me too!

I am taking journalism classes. I get my degree on July 2015, but I will have to suspend my classes to go to USA to marry. And looking houses is pretty nice! Jason already bought one, he is just waiting for me! This is so nice... You will get your house soon, I believe that.

Please, keep me informed about your status! :)

Don't worry, you will get it

  14. Yes, its very fast! you are so lucky to be with Cali! I would say maybe a month, if not sooner. Keep in mind that if it is not approved as quickly you cannot put in a service request until its been 5 months.

I really don't think that it is an issue that your partner is not with you. I think 90% of cases on here don't have their partner in the country with them.

in fact, for us (My partner has lived here in my country with me for the last 6 years) we have been told its HARDER because they need to prove that they can support you, etc.

I'm sure someone else will give you sound advice. But from what I've read here, not many partners are in the same country with their fiancee.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

(PS, Do you know how to check the status of your case online so you can keep unto date?)

OMG! This made me very happy! Happy and calm, because I was worrying too much about having Jason with me for the interview. What can I do while I wait for NOA2? Do I have to fill more papers? And yeah, I access uscis.gov! Is that right?

    Thank you sooooo much! :D

  15. What centre did they send you to? Textas or Cali? (Your receipt number will start with 3 letters, that will indicate where you are. If it starts with w, your at Cali)

Texas are taking a solid 5+ months to process to the NOA2. Cali are taking much less. We got approved last week after 12 days at Cali. Big, unfair difference at the 2 centres.

Hi! So, they sent me to Cali. Wow, approved in 12 days? I hope I have the same luck as you! One more question: I read in some brazilian blogs that is good I have my Fiancé with me to do the interview. Is that true? Can they deny my visa just because Jason is not there with me?
